The Cleveland Guardians claimed right-hander Jason Bilous off waivers from the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. Bilous has a new home for the 2023 season after the White Sox designated him for assignment last week. The 25-year-old has not yet pitched in the major leagues and has pitched in the minor leagues for four seasons after Chicago took him in the 13th round in 2018 out of Coastal Carolina University. In 31 outings (21 starts) for Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte in 2022, Bilous struggled to the tune of a 6.30 ERA and 1.74 WHIP while walking 79 and striking out 131 in 105 2/3 total innings pitched. He will serve as pitching depth for the White Sox's organization this year.
