If the Ravens retain him, it will likely be with the hope that he can bounce back to elite-level status as a return man.

With just seven catches for 103 yards in 14 games to date, Jones -- who sat out Wednesday's practice -- hasn't been much of a factor in the Ravens' offense, though he continues to factor in as a returner.

Jones had four kickoff returns for 188 yards and a touchdown and three punt returns for 32 yards in Sunday's 43-23 loss to the Steelers.

Though not a factor in the offense, Jones finally got things going on special teams, which might inspire the Ravens to eventually give him a few offensive snaps. At the moment, he's essentially just a return specialist, having logged zero offensive snaps in Sunday's loss.

Ravens special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg hinted that Jones will continue to return punts, ESPN.com reports. "The reason we have [Jones] back there is we really feel confident he's going to make a play for us if we block it well," Rosburg said. "And our players feel the same way. So, based on that, we look forward to blocking for him again."

Jones has muffed two punts and dropped at least four of his 12 targets, but while his role on offense has essentially disappeared, he still worked as the Ravens' kick and punt returner throughout Sunday's win over the Falcons. With just one target over his last five games, Jones can safely be ignored in leagues that don't count return yardage, and he may be one muff/fumble away from losing relevance in even those formats.
