Though obviously not the dominant player he once was, Johnson is still getting plenty of snaps in the Indy offense, and he isn't completely washed up. Of course, one big game doesn't erase what happened the previous four weeks, and Johnson still only has 13 catches on 27 targets through five games. Donte Moncrief was quiet in Thursday's win, catching just one pass for three yards on three targets.

Johnson did not have a reception and was targeted two times while playing 40 snaps in Sunday's win over Jacksonville, the WTHR TV in Indianapolis reports.

Johnson didn't have a reception for a second consecutive game and has seven receptions in four games. While he's getting snaps on offense, he appears to be the fourth or fifth option in the passing offense, making it hard to justify his roster spot in most formats.

It's just two games and the entire Indy offense has struggled, so he should improve. However, there are reasons to be worried given Johnson's age (34) and the decline in his per-play effectiveness the previous two seasons.

Johnson caught just 4-of-10 targets for 24 yards in his Colts debut Sunday against the Bills.

Quarterback Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis offense were out of sync all game going up against Rex Ryan's defense, and Johnson was one of a few Colts who had a subpar game as a result. Fellow receiver T.Y. Hilton left the game with a potentially serious knee injury after receiving 14 targets, and Johnson will be called upon to fill the void Hilton's absence creates should he miss time moving forward. Both Johnson and Luck played very close to their respective floors in this one, so owners should expect a bounce-back effort from the veteran receiver as his quarterback works back toward his ceiling.

Johnson caught his only target for a 32-yard touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over St. Louis.

Johnson hasn't done much in the preseason as the Colts don't need the veteran to prove he can play. Still, the long touchdown was a tantalizing possibility of what he can do with Andrew Luck as his quarterback. If he can stay healthy at age 34, Johnson should get significant opportunities in a better passing offense than he had with the Texans.

Johnson caught his only target for a nine-yard gain in Sunday's preseason opener against the Eagles.

Johnson converted a 3rd-and-9 around midfield to help set up a field goal. He's locked in as a starter in Indy's high-powered offense, and while the upgrade in quarterback play should be massive, he'll have far more competition for targets than he did in Houston.

The Colts have a crowded competition at wide receiver, but this report indicates Johnson will be viewed as a starter and used in multiple spots in wide receiver formations. If he can stay healthy at age 34, Johnson should get significant opportunities in a better passing offense than he had with the Texans.

Johnson has signed a three-year deal with the Colts, reportedly worth $21 million, NFL.com reports.

Johnson, who caught 85 passes for 936 yards and three TDs in 15 games for the Texans last season, will provide the Colts' already thriving passing offense with an experienced and productive option to work along with fellow wideouts T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief. At 6-3 and 230 pounds, the 33-year-old Johnson provides QB Andrew Luck with a big and reliable target, and his addition obviously cushions the team's loss of Reggie Wayne, a long-time fixture in the Indy passing attack.

The former Miami Hurricanes would fill a couple of needs in Indianapolis, with the Colts lacking both an obvious long-term solution at running back and a veteran possession receiver. Texans fans would be highly disappointed to see Johnson sign with a division rival, but it's no secret that the 33-year-old wideout wants to play for a Super Bowl contender. Johnson will turn 34 in July, and while he no longer offers an elite physical skill set, there should still be some gas left in the tank. Indianapolis would be one of the better landing spots for his fantasy prospects, as the Colts already boast a prolific passing game but don't have a deep group of wide receivers. The Texans, meanwhile, are ready to move forward with DeAndre Hopkins as their clear No. 1 target in the passing game.

Johnson's agent Kennard McGuire relayed Wednesday that he has asked the Texans to release the veteran wideout, ESPN.com reports.

The report notes that the Texans had given Johnson -- whose role with the team was slated to diminish -- permission to seek a trade, but such a scenario doesn't seem likely, given the wideout's hefty contract. In any case, at this stage, it appears as though the 33-year-old Johnson -- who caught 85 passes for 936 yards and three TDs in 15 games last season -- will be catching passes for a new team in 2015.

With DeAndre Hopkins emerging as a legitimate and major weapon in the team's passing game, the days of Johnson routinely catching 100 passes, seems to have come to an end.

Quarterback Case Keenum, the Texans' fourth starting QB this season, really struggled with his accuracy, which led to Johnson leading the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards despite the relatively low totals. The good news is that he didn't suffer any setback from the concussion that forced him to miss Week 15 against the Colts, so he should be good to go in Week 17 against the Jaguars.

Per the report, Johnson did not participate in Friday's practice due to a non-injury-related issue, but the veteran wideout is believed to be on track on track to suit up Sunday, an outcome fantasy owners will want to verify in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff.

Johnson indicated Thursday that he has passed the NFL's concussion protocol, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Barring any setbacks, the wideout is thus on track to play against the Ravens on Sunday, an anticipated outcome that would be supported by an official probable designation on the Texans' Week 16 injury report, which will be released on Friday.

Johnson's status is worth monitoring closely in the coming days, but his presence on the field Wednesday bodes well for his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Ravens, in the absence of any setbacks.
