Fri Apr 518:47Justin Foscue Remains On The Bench
Texas Rangers third baseman Justin Foscue remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Houston Astros. The team recalled Foscue after Josh Jung (wrist) landed on the injured list on Tuesday. Since then, Foscue has been on the bench for the first three games. It seems odd that the Rangers would call up the 25-year-old prospect and then not use him. Instead, Josh Smith will cover third base and bat eighth versus right-hander Hunter Brown. Foscue is an interesting talent, but isn't worth snagging in fantasy formats while sitting on the bench.

Tue Apr 212:02Rangers Calling Up Justin Foscue
The Texas Rangers are calling up top prospect Justin Foscue from the minors on Tuesday, according to sources. The 25-year-old was a first-round pick (14th overall) in 2020 out of Mississippi State and can play first, second and third base. He'll fill the roster spot of third baseman Josh Jung, who suffered a broken right wrist when he was hit by a pitch on Monday. With first baseman Nathaniel Lowe (oblique) also on the injured list, Foscue should see a good amount of playing time between the two corner-infield spots, making him an immediate waiver-wire pickup in at least AL-only fantasy leagues. He hit .266/.394/.468 with 18 homers and 14 steals in 122 games with Triple-A Round Rock in 2023 and is listed as Texas' No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

Tue Mar 1922:02Justin Foscue Having Nice Spring
Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's Cactus League contest versus the Oakland Athletics. Foscue, 25, is now hitting .275 with one homer, four doubles and five RBI in 40 at-bats. Foscue was brought up as a second baseman, but has played both corner infield positions this spring and that can help increase his chances of breaking camp with the World Series champs. In Triple-A Round Rock this past season, Foscue hit .266 with 18 home runs, 31 doubles, four triples, 84 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 94 runs scored in 122 games. The former first-round pick does not possess much power which limits his game, but has a knack for making contact and getting on base. Without much power or opportunity at the moment, Foscue can remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Fri Feb 1616:59Justin Foscue Working Out At First Base In Camp
Texas Rangers infielder Justin Foscue is focusing on first base in spring training this year. Foscue is blocked at second base by Marcus Semien, so the 24-year-old is working at first base in spring training in order to give him more versatility and a better path to playing time in 2024. He'll be with the big-league club for the first time this year after hitting .266/.394/.468 with an .862 OPS, a career-high 18 home runs, 31 doubles, four triples, 84 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 94 runs scored in 122 games in 2023 for Triple-A Round Rock. Foscue has shown good contact skills and plate discipline in the minors, but he probably lacks enough power to be a legitimate fantasy option at a corner infield spot. His best path to playing time in 2024 might be at third base if Josh Jung (calf) cannot stay healthy.
