But Peguero, 23, has the most power among the group and is also the second-fastest player on the team behind Bae. However, he only got on base in 2023 at a .280 clip and stole only eight bases in 59 games. Inconsistent contact let to a meager .374 slugging percentage as well. Still, there's still growth potential for Peguero, who was called up to the majors in mid-July last year. In NL-only leagues, Peguero is the best gamble at second base in Pittsburgh, but he's going to need to make more contact and keep the ball off the ground more to tap into more power.

The 22-year-old Peguero is Pittsburgh's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he gets the call to the Show after hitting a combined .260/.333/.462 with 13 home runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 39 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 76 games at Indy and Double-A Altoona. Most of his action came for Altoona. Peguero made his big-league debut in 2022 but played in only one game. At least in the short term, he could see regular playing time at shortstop for the Bucs, making him worth a waiver-wire pickup in deeper leagues. Speed will be his biggest asset, but he could struggle at the plate if he chases outside the zone.

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled shortstop Liover Peguero and placed Tucupita Marcano on the COVID injured list on Friday. Peguero is a well-regarded prospect for the Pirates, coming in as their No. 5 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline. The 21-year-old will report to the Pirates straight from Double-A Altoona, where he is hitting .292 with five homers, 28 runs, 33 RBI, and 14 steals across 226 at-bats. Dynasty gamers will want to take note of Peguero's status in their leagues, although it might be a lot to expect much production from him with the Pirates at this stage considering he's never played above Double-A.
