Wed Apr 2417:12Rockies Recall Hunter Goodman, Option Michael Toglia
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they recalled utility man Hunter Goodman from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Goodman, the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gets called up to the majors after hitting .298 with seven home runs and 10 doubles in the first 20 games at Triple-A this year. The 24-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2021 out of Memphis made his big-league debut in 2023 and went 14-for-70 (.200) with a homer, 17 RBI, five walks and 24 strikeouts in his first 23 games played in the Show. For now, he's merely a waiver-wire option for fantasy managers in deep leagues for his power upside at Coors Field. He figures to see some playing time in right field and first base, but he's not start in Wednesday against the visiting San Diego Padres.

Tue Mar 2619:10Michael Toglia, Alan Trejo Make Opening Day Roster
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black announced on Tuesday that first baseman/outfielder Michael Toglia and non-roster infielder Alan Trejo have made the Opening Day roster. In addition, right-hander Victor Vodnik made the bullpen, while outfielder Sean Bouchard has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Toglia is a switch-hitting 24-year-old who was taken 23rd overall in 2019 out of UCLA. He showed plenty of power in the minors but hit just .163 (23-for-141) with four homers and nine RBI in 45 games for the Rockies in 2023. Toglia will have a low fantasy ceiling as a platoon option against righties in the outfield while also being a backup at first. Trejo, 27, mostly offers the Rockies defensive versatility on the infield as a bench player. He has just nine homers in 76 career games and hit .224/.284/.507 in a career-high 45 contests in Colorado in 2023.

Thu Mar 1416:09Michael Toglia Being More Aggressive At The Plate
Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Toglia (neck), who returned to the Cactus League lineup on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians after being scratched on Wednesday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks due to neck stiffness, is looking to be more aggressive while hitting for more power in 2024. Toglia, who stands at 6-foot-5, hit .163 in 45 games last year and has hit just .187 with six home runs in 76 games in two seasons in the majors. The 25-year-old former first-rounder in 2019 is fighting for a roster spot out of camp this year, but he also has minor-league options remaining. More aggressiveness early in counts has benefitted Toglia this spring, but he's still striking out at a high rate. So far in Cactus League action, he's hitting .333/.429/.700 in 14 contests. Toglia won't be on the mixed-league radar if he's in the majors with inconsistent playing time.

Tue Mar 1200:47Michael Toglia Continues To Mash This Spring
Colorado Rockies first baseman/outfielder Michael Toglia continued his strong offensive spring Monday, hitting his third home run in a 7-2 Cactus League win over the White Sox. The former first-round pick has not yet been able to stick in the big leagues and is currently fighting for a roster spot. However, he is making a compelling case, batting .345 with nine RBI in 29 plate appearances. Toglia does have the pedigree and would have the benefit of playing his home games in Coors Field, but he will need to prove that he can consistently produce if he does make the team before fantasy managers can trust him.

Thu Jul 13 202316:36Michael Toglia Expected To Be Called Up
The Colorado Rockies are expected to call up first baseman/outfielder Michael Toglia from the minors for the start of the second half of the season on Friday. The team optioned infielder Elehuris Montero to the minors just before the All-Star break in order to get him some more playing time. Toglia has shown an improved bat lately at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he is hitting .254 (73-for-288) overall with 16 home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 63 RBI, three stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 73 games. The 24-year-old switch-hitter has hit just .209 (28-for-134) with two home runs and 12 RBI so far in 41 major-league games with the Rockies, but he could be worth a look in much deeper fantasy leagues if he sees decent playing time.

Mon May 15 202301:10C.J. Cron Headed To IL, Michael Toglia Likely Being Recalled
Colorado Rockies first baseman C.J. Cron (back) will likely head to the IL on Monday with back spasms. Cron left early Sunday against the Phillies, and although the injury seemed minor, the Rockies appear to be playing it safe with the 33-year-old by sending him to the IL. Being called up in his place is prospect Michael Toglia, who got his first sniff of the majors last year but didn't perform well. Toglia has been good at Triple-A this season, slashing .257/.364/.493 with eight homers. He doesn't need to be added other than in deep leagues, but he does have the potential to get on the fantasy radar quickly.

Tue Aug 30 202216:12Michael Toglia Called Up By Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are calling up first base prospect Michael Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The 23-year-old switch-hitter was the team's top draft pick from 2019, and he was hitting a combined .249/.341/.511 with an .852 OPS, 30 home runs, 83 RBI, 74 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 114 games with Double-A Hartford and Albuquerque before his call-up. In 17 games for Albuquerque, he hit .333 (22-for-66) with seven long balls, 17 RBI and 11 runs scored. Toglia, the team's No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline, should play regularly between first base and designated hitter in Colorado, making him an attractive waiver-wire pickup, at least in deeper fantasy leagues.

Tue Jul 26 202208:36Michael Toglia Continues To Swat Homers
Colorado Rockies first base prospect Michael Toglia has put on an impressive display of power as of late. The talented switch-hitter can launch the ball over the fence in all parts of the field. Discipline-wise, Toglia has solid vision at the plate but has still shown a tendency to swing and miss due to his power-heavy approach. Defensively, the first baseman looks very strong at his position with smooth glovework and an overall natural feel. He could shift to a role in left field if needed, but the expectation is that first base will be Toglia's long-term home. The 23-year-old has looked great since returning from the All-Star Break, going 4-for-10 with two home runs and three RBI. He scored four times in the process and has emerged as a player whose future fantasy value will be boosted by his power output. Look for Toglia to grace Coors Field sometime next season.
