Sun Apr 2113:46DL Hall Going On Injured List With Knee Sprain
Milwaukee Brewers left-hander DL Hall (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left knee sprain on Sunday afternoon. Hall reportedly suffered the injury while fielding a bunt against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. The 25-year-old came into the season with some hype after pitching well as a reliever in 2023. Unfortunately, the results have not been good for the former top prospect as he owns a 7.71 ERA, 2.27 WHIP and 13/10 K/BB through four starts this season. It is currently unclear how the Brewers plan to fill Hall's spot rotation, but Bryse Wilson and Robert Gasser are both in consideration.

Thu Feb 121:42Brewers Land DL Hall, Joey Ortiz From Orioles
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired left-hander DL Hall, shortstop Joey Ortiz and the 34th overall pick in this year's MLB draft from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday in a blockbuster trade that sent right-hander Corbin Burnes to the O's, according to a source. Hall, 25, was once a top pitching prospect for Baltimore, but he's made 29 appearances and one start in the big leagues and was used as a reliever in 2023 due to an injury. Hall ended up with a 3.26 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 19 1/3 innings last season. With a change of scenery, Hall should have a better shot at cracking Milwaukee's Opening Day rotation, especially with Burnes now gone. Ortiz is in a similar situation after being blocked at the big-league level for a middle-infield spot in Baltimore. The 25-year-old will have more opportunity with the Brew Crew after hitting .321 (112-for-349) with nine home runs, 58 RBI and 11 steals in 88 games for Triple-A Norfolk in 2023.

Fri Jan 2621:02Orioles View DL Hall As A Starter Long-Term
Baltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that the team views left-hander DL Hall as a starting pitcher in the long-term. Elias said that Hall could remain in the bullpen in 2024, depending on how spring training goes, before he's eventually stretched out over the next year. There's also a possibility that Hall is stretched out immediately. The 25-year-old southpaw spent most of the 2023 season as a reliever and threw 19 1/3 innings of relief at the big-league level for the Orioles, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 18 hits (two home runs) while walking five and striking out 23 over 18 appearances. Hall has not exceeded 100 innings pitched in any of his six professional seasons, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him in 2024.

Wed Jul 12 202321:18DL Hall Still Regaining Strength In Florida
Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect DL Hall (back) was sent back to Sarasota, Fla., last weekend with the goal of gaining strength and velocity after a back injury that he suffered during spring training. The young left-hander is known for a high-octane fastball, but his average velocity at Triple-A Norfolk this year has been only 93.5 mph. With the O's earlier in 2023, he averaged 96.2 mph with his heater. The 24-year-old southpaw will still take part in live-game situations and throwing sessions at the team's spring training complex, but most of his time will be spent in the weight room. The team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has improved his secondary pitches as a result of his drop in fastball velocity, but the latest development will push his return to Baltimore back.

Sat Apr 29 202310:05DL Hall Called Up For Doubleheader
The Baltimore Orioles added pitching prospect DL Hall from Triple-A Norfolk to serve as the team's 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. The team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will be brought up to the big leagues for the first time this year to serve in a long-relief role for extra pitching depth during the doubleheader. Expect the Orioles to send him back to the minors following the twin bill. The 24-year-old left-hander made 11 appearances in his first taste of the majors in 2022, and he's currently posting a 4.41 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, nine walks and 20 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings over four starts for Norfolk. Hall has the stuff to generate high strikeout rates in the big leagues, but he needs to work on his control before the O's seriously consider him for their rotation later this year.

Sun Mar 26 202316:15Baltimore Orioles Option DL Hall To Open Season
The Baltimore Orioles have optioned pitching prospect DL Hall to Triple-A Norfolk. Hall dealt with back issues for most of the spring and manager Brandon Hyde is hoping to have Hall stretched out with the potential to return as a starter at some point. The left-hander got his first taste of the big leagues in 2022 and struggled with a 5.93 ERA in 11 appearances (one start). Hall has a strong fastball, but his biggest blemish hasn't been his talent, but his command. If he can sort that out, Hall could be an intriguing option in all formats.

Sun Mar 12 202312:29DL Hall Throws Live Session On Sunday
Baltimore Orioles left-hander DL Hall's (back) live batting practice session on Sunday went "extremely well," and he has another one scheduled for Tuesday at spring training. If his session on Tuesday also goes well, the Orioles are hoping to get Hall into a Grapefruit League game. The 24-year-old southpaw is building himself up as a starter, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready for Opening Day in a starting role. Baltimore has yet to decide whether they want to use Hall in a relief or starting role for the majority of the 2023 season. Hall has great stuff on the mound, but he's been unable to control it consistently. He allowed nine earned runs on 17 hits while walking six and striking out 19 in 13 2/3 innings in his first taste of the majors in 2022.

Wed Mar 8 202315:31Felix Bautista, DL Hall To Throw Live BP Next Week
Baltimore Orioles pitchers Felix Bautista (knee, shoulder) and DL Hall (back) are both scheduled to throw live batting practice sessions in camp next week. Hall also threw a side session on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Bautista, who should operate as Baltimore's closer when healthy, is being slowly built up in spring training after complaining of knee and shoulder soreness. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Bautista should be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season. Hall, 24, won't be ready for Opening Day due to a lower back injury, but he shouldn't be on the shelf for long to open the year. The Orioles clearly view Hall as a future starter in their rotation, but don't be surprised if he begins the year down on the farm when he's ready to go.

Thu Mar 2 202322:05DL Hall Won't Be Ready For Opening Day
Baltimore Orioles top pitching prospect DL Hall (back) is unlikely to start out the season in the rotation. Hall has been coping with lower back discomfort and has yet to make his spring training debut. According to the report, Hall has been limited to throwing fastballs in his bullpen sessions but will be cleared to throw all pitches on Monday. The Orioles will slowly ramp things up in hopes to prepare him for the 2023 season. They are unsure what role he will serve, but the plan is at some point to phase Hall into the rotation. In 2022, the 24-year-old displayed a 5.93 ERA across 11 appearances in the majors. In the minor leagues, Hall composed a 4.48 ERA with 137 strikeouts across three separate levels. The O's are prepared to embrace Hall as the future of their rotation, assuming that he stays healthy.

Fri Feb 3 202313:40Orioles Want DL Hall To Start
Baltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said on Friday that the team wants left-hander DL Hall to start in 2023. However, Elias wasn't ready to say whether Hall would go to Triple-A to begin the year if he doesn't break camp in the major-league starting rotation. The 24-year-old southpaw made 11 appearances (just one start) in his major-league debut with the O's in 2022, and he went 1-1 with a 5.93 ERA (1.65 FIP), 1.68 WHIP, one save and 19 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings pitched. Hall will certainly have to improve his command this spring and throughout the year if he wants to win and maintain a rotation spot in Baltimore.

Wed Aug 31 202200:23DL Hall Joining Taxi Squad Wednesday
Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect DL Hall will be flying to Cleveland on Wednesday to join the team's taxi squad, per MASNsports.com's Roch Kubatko. Shortstop Gunnar Henderson will also be joining him. Hall made his big-league debut in the middle of August, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts through 3 2/3 innings before getting sent back to Triple-A Norfolk. The O's previously mentioned that Hall would return to the team in September in a relief role, so his redraft fantasy value remains low at this time, but he is worth keeping an eye on in dynasty leagues.

Sat Aug 13 202221:36DL Hall Optioned, Will Shift To Relief
Baltimore Orioles pitcher DL Hall was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday after his start against the Tampa Bay Rays. He made his MLB debut on Saturday, allowing five earned runs on five hits and three walks across 3 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old was charged with the loss on Saturday. The Orioles are optioning Hall so that he can switch to relief in the minors to return to the majors in September. He impressively struck out 114 batters over 70 innings in Triple-A this season. With the switch to relief, Hall is mainly a stash in dynasty leagues for now.

Sat Aug 13 202208:58DL Hall To Start Against Rays On Saturday
Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect DL Hall will make his major league debut and start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Hall is the Orioles' 4th ranked prospect (and the 62nd-ranked prospect in all of MLB) as per MLB Pipeline. An elbow stress reaction in 2021 limited Hall to just 31 IP at Double-A Bowie where he posted a 3.13 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. Hall has struggled in 2022 making this promotion somewhat surprising. In 2022, Hall has posted a 4.52 ERA, and 1.42 WHIP, to go with 45 walks and 10 homers in 77 2/3 innings pitched in 20 games (18 at Triple-A). Hall has, however, impressively struck out 126 batters. While Hall boasts tremendous strikeout potential (410 career strikeouts in the minors over 294 2/3 IP), he has control/walk issues that could limit his MLB success. Managers in redraft formats in need of help with starting pitching may want to take a flyer on Hall as a streaming option through the remainder of 2022. Just be warned there is a chance he will be used sparingly after Saturday or be headed back to Norfolk by Monday morning. His career-high in innings pitched in any given campaign is 94 1/3 (back in 2018) and he has already thrown 77 2/3 IP this year. Don't break the bank to roster him.

Fri Aug 12 202218:19DL Hall Called Up By Orioles, Could Start Saturday
Baltimore Orioles top pitching prospect DL Hall has been called up to the big leagues and appears likely to make a start tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Rays. The top 100 prospect has shown elite swing-and-miss stuff in the minors this season, racking up 114 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched in Triple-A. That said, he has struggled mightily with control, walking 44 batters over those 70 innings and posting a WHIP of 1.49. He was scheduled to start tomorrow for Triple-A Norfolk, so it seems likely that the Orioles will keep him on that schedule. Hall provides as much upside as any pitching prospect this season, but he also comes with a lot of risk. If you can afford the risk, he is worthy of an add in deeper leagues and could be a useful streamer in all leagues.

Tue Jul 19 202208:28DL Hall Continues To Strike Batters Out
Baltimore Orioles left-handed pitching prospect DL Hall has spent almost all of 2022 in Triple-A and could be closing in on a call to the majors soon. After missing a good chunk of 2021 due to injury, the former first-round pick has bounced back this season, continuing to max out his fastball at 101 mph while trusting his impressive blend of complementary pitches. His next-best offering is a changeup, though his slider and curveball can also set the tone in counts with their decent breaking action. Additionally, he induces a whole lot of swing-and-miss stuff, though his walk rate is much higher than the Orioles would like. Hall had a great week in Triple-A, tossing a total of 10.2 innings over two starts with Norfolk. Although he got unlucky, going 0-1, the 24-year-old allowed just one run, four hits, and five walks. He struck out a whopping 18 batters in the process, putting him at an average of 15.9 K/9 during the aforementioned two-game span. Hall has looked spectacular in the month of July and continues to make his case for a promotion to the bigs.

Wed Jun 1 202210:44D.L. Hall Continues To Pile Up K's In Triple-A
Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect D.L. Hall went three innings and allowed three hits, two runs, two walks and struck out six over three innings in a loss on Tuesday for Triple-A Norfolk. The lefty suffered an elbow injury last year and opened 2022 with one start in High-A and another in Double-A, before being promoted to Triple-A and making his last five starts there. The Orioles have been cautious with the 23-year-old and he has yet to go past four innings in any start this year. For the season the former first-round draft pick is 0-2 with a 4.07 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings to go along with a 1.23 WHIP. Hall has shown an ability to rack up strikeouts and just needs to continue to build more strength in his elbow. Already on the 40-man roster, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hall get the call at some point in 2022. He should be monitored in redraft leagues, but dynasty managers shouldn't wait too much longer to snag the big lefty with high strikeout upside.

Thu May 5 202209:51D.L. Hall Promoted To Double-A
The Baltimore Orioles promoted pitching prospect D.L. Hall from High-A to Double-A on Thursday. The left-hander is being eased into the 2022 season by the organization. He missed the majority of the second half of the 2021 season due to a stress reaction in his left elbow. He made just one appearance at High-A, pitching four innings and allowing two hits, no walks and no runs while striking out six. Hall struck out 56 batters over 31.2 innings at Double-A last year (15.9 K/9) while pitching to a 3.13 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. The 23-year-old is rated as the team's fifth overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. There's a chance we could see him make his MLB debut this year.

Mon Mar 28 202222:00Orioles Option DL Hall, Kyle Bradish
The Baltimore Orioles made multiple roster moves on Monday to cut down the team's big league roster. Outfielder Yusniel Diaz and pitchers Kyle Bradish and Alexander Wells were sent to Triple-A. Meanwhile, pitcher DL Hall, the team's No. 5 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline, was sent to Double-A. Hall, Bradish and Diaz all had impressive performances this spring. Bradish pitched four scoreless innings, Diaz went 6-for-16 with three doubles and a homer and Hall pitched just one inning but recorded two strikeouts and didn't allow a run. All three players have a good chance of making their big league debuts at some point this year.
