Fri Mar 816:29Noelvi Marte Issued 80-Game Suspension
Cincinnati Reds infielder Noelvi Marte has been hit with an 80-game suspension for a performance-enhancing drug violation. The club's No. 1 prospect was projected to be the primary third baseman in the 2024 season but he will have to wait until mid-season to assume that role. Marte appeared in 35 games for the Reds in the 2023 season, impressing with a .316 average alongside three home runs, six stolen bases, and an .822 OPS across 123 trips to the plate. The 22-year-old also hit .279 with 11 home runs, 18 steals, and an .812 OPS across 92 games between the Double-A and Triple-A levels a season ago. Offseason signee Jeimer Candelario is likely to handle the bulk of reps at the hot corner for the Reds in the season's first half, boosting his fantasy stock in the process.

Fri Mar 116:58Noelvi Marte To Make Spring Debut Saturday
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell said that rookie infielder Noelvi Marte (hamstring) will make his Cactus League debut on Saturday. Marte suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain while playing in the Dominican winter league and had more issues with his leg in the leadup to spring training, so the Reds have been slow-playing the impressive young infielder in camp. The 22-year-old has made enough progress to play in Cactus League games, though, and he should be just fine for Opening Day at the end of March. He'll have to share playing time at the hot corner with Jeimer Candelario, but Marte has lots of upside for fantasy managers in all leagues thanks to an exciting mix of power and speed. It also helps that he's in a rising lineup in a great hitter's park. Marte hit .316 (36-for-114) with three homers, 15 RBI and six steals in his first 35 big-league games in 2023.

Thu Feb 2216:54Noelvi Marte Scheduled To Play On March 2
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell said that rookie infielder Noelvi Marte (hamstring) is scheduled to make his spring training debut on March 2 against the Colorado Rockies. Marte suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in November while playing winter ball, and the Reds are slow-playing the impressive youngster this spring. Barring a setback, the 22-year-old should be ready for Opening Day. Marte certainly has a lot of upside at the major-league level after recording an .822 OPS in his first 123 plate appearances in the majors late last year, but he's most likely going to have to share playing time at the hot corner in Cincinnati with Jeimer Candelario, who the Reds signed to a three-year, $45 million deal in free agency. Marte has a high floor and a high ceiling in the long term because of his power/speed combination.

Wed Feb 2113:10Noelvi Marte To Miss First Five Cactus League Games
Cincinnati Reds rookie infielder Noelvi Marte (hamstring) said the Grade 2 hamstring strain he suffered while playing winter ball feels "good," but the Reds are slow-playing him in camp and he's expected to miss the first five Cactus League games as a result. The Reds are saying there's no reason Marte won't be ready for a full workload by the March 28 season opener. "He's in great shape," manager David Bell said. "He's way ahead of where he could have been." The 22-year-old made his big-league debut on Aug. 19 last year and hit .316 with three home runs and an .822 OPS in 114 at-bats. Marte has an exciting blend of power and speed and is a candidate to hit 25 home runs in his first full season in the big leagues, although he could split playing time at third base with Jeimer Candelario in 2024.

Tue Feb 1317:23Noelvi Marte Not Quite 100 Percent
Cincinnati Reds infielder Noelvi Marte (hamstring), who will mostly focus on third base in spring training, is coming back from a hamstring injury that he suffered in late November and isn't quite at full speed. His injury typically carries a six- to 10-week recovery period. "He has been out there running," general manager Brad Meador said. "He's hitting. He's doing everything, but just building back up." The 22-year-old can also play shortstop, but that's Elly De La Cruz's primary position, so Marte is going to have to share playing time at the hot corner with Jeimer Candelario in 2024. Defense isn't Marte's strong suit, but he hit an impressive .316/.366/.456 with three homers and 15 RBI in his first 35 big-league games a season ago. Playing time could be an issue, but he has a very exciting power/speed combination.

Wed Jan 2416:21Noelvi Marte On Track To Be Ready For Camp
Cincinnati Reds general manager Nick Krall said the hamstring injury that infield prospect Noelvi Marte suffered late in November while playing in the Dominican Republic winter league came with a six- to 10-week recovery process, meaning he's on a good track to be ready for the start of spring training. Barring a setback in his recovery process, the 22-year-old figures to be the team's starting third baseman on Opening Day. Marte saw his first 114 major-league at-bats in 2023 and went 36-for-114 (.316) with three home runs, 15 RBI, six stolen bases and 15 runs scored in 35 games played. There's a lot to like about Marte for fantasy managers in an improved Reds lineup. There's a nice combination of power, contact ability and speed on the basepaths with Marte as he preps for his first full season in the big leagues. He has a high ceiling and the potential to hit around 25 home runs in 2024.

Sat Sep 9 202323:50Noelvi Marte Avoids Concussion, Considered Day-To-Day
Cincinnati Reds infielder Noelvi Marte (face) has avoided a concussion and is considered day-to-day. He was hit in the face with a ball during pregame and ended up being a late scratch for Saturday's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. That was scary," said Reds manager David Bell, who said Marte did not need stitches and was "going to be fine." "He got tested as a precaution. There's a chance he's back pretty soon," Bell added. The 21-year-old is considered day-to-day, but it doesn't appear Marte will be out of the lineup long. Alejo Lopez replaced Marte in Sunday's lineup. Lopez went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Marte's next chance to return to the lineup will be Sunday for the series finale against St. Louis.

Sat Aug 19 202310:54Reds Promoting Noelvi Marte Saturday
The Cincinnati Reds are calling up infielder prospect Noelvi Marte to the major leagues. The 21-year-old ranks as the club's No. 1 overall prospect and MLB's No. 24 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The Reds add yet another rookie to their already-stacked cast of promising youth currently on the big-league roster. Marte, a key piece of last summer's Luis Castillo trade, figures to see most of his opportunity at shortstop with Matt McLain primarily playing second base while Jonathan India (heel) is sidelined, but he can also play third base. Marte is slashing .279/.358/.454 with 11 home runs, 20 doubles, four triples, 45 RBI, and 18 stolen bases in 348 minor-league at-bats this year. He should be added across most formats with plenty of raw power and speed potential to go with it.

Wed Aug 2 202310:12Noelvi Marte Holding His Own In Triple-A
Cincinnati Reds shortstop prospect Noelvi Marte was promoted to Triple-A Louisville on July 10 and has shown he has belonged since that time. In 24 games, the 21-year-old has hit a clean .319 with two homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. Apart from three games in Rookie Ball, Marte spent most of his season in Double-A and overall has hit .291 with 10 homers, 42 RBI and 16 stolen bases between all three of his stops. The prize of the Luis Castillo trade last season, Marte has shown a good eye at the plate throughout his career and has begun tapping into his power potential. As exciting as it would be to see Marte in the big leagues this season, the Reds are already shuffling plenty of their young talent at the big-league level and the smart move is to give Marte everyday at-bats. Redraft managers could avoid Marte for now, but he should be rostered in dynasty formats as one of the top shortstop prospects in all of baseball.

Mon Jun 26 202309:33Noelvi Marte Promoted To Triple-A
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Noelvi Marte has earned himself a promotion to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds already have shortstops Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz making an impact at the big league level. Marte could be the next in line to make it to the Reds roster. The 21-year-old is slashing .281/.356/.464 with eight homers, 25 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 50 games in Double-A. It shouldn't be too long before Marte is ready to play at the big league level. That being said, the Reds future looks extremely bright with all these young sluggers.

Mon May 22 202312:53Noelvi Marte Crushing The Ball At Double-A
Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Noelvi Marte, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is hitting an impressive .358 (24-for-67) with five doubles, seven home runs, 17 RBI, three stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 74 plate appearances over 17 games in the month of May at Double-A Chattanooga. It took the 21-year-old infielder a bit to get dialed in at the plate in his first season at Double-A earlier this year, but he looks to be locked in at the moment. Marte can play both shortstop and third base, but he figures to stick at the hot corner at the next level. He remains on track to be an everyday player in the big leagues eventually, and he carries plenty of dynasty/keeper league appeal with 25-plus homer power.

Wed Mar 29 202319:27Noelvi Marte Optioned To Double-A Chattanooga
Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Noelvi Marte will begin the campaign in Double-A Chattanooga. MLB Pipeline's No. 29-ranked prospect finds himself at a positional crossroads. Marte has primarily played shortstop, but moving to third base is the most likely path going forward. Regardless of which position sticks, Marte's bat will have him ascending to the majors before long. Last season, he showcased his 60-grade power by posting 19 home runs and a .456 slugging percentage over 115 games.

Fri Jul 29 202222:52Reds Pick Up Noelvi Marte, Other Prospects Friday
The Cincinnati Reds dealt starting pitcher Luis Castillo to the Seattle Mariners on Friday night in exchange for shortstops Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo, right-hander Levi Stoudt and second baseman Dylan Moore. Marte (No. 1), Arroyo (No. 3) and Stoudt (No. 5) were all top-five prospects of the Mariners, according to MLB Pipeline, so Cincinnati really scored in a prospect-rich deal for Castillo. Marte is hitting .270/.360/.460 with an .820 OPS, 15 homers, 55 RBI and 12 steals in 84 games for High-A Everett after a slow start this year. There aren't many infielders with raw power like his, and he's shown a solid approach at the plate as well. His future home could be at third base, though. Arroyo, 18, is a switch-hitting shortstop who has done nothing but it at Low-A this year. Stoudt has struggled at Double-A, but he could eventually be a back-of-the-rotation starter for the Reds.

Sat Apr 16 202210:43Noelvi Marte Off To Hot Start In 2022
Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Noelvi Marte is off to a hot start in 2022, slashing .304/.429/.565 over 23 at-bats. He has two home runs, five RBI, one stolen base and five runs scored on the young season. Marte is the 11th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline and the top-ranked Mariners prospect now that outfielder Julio Rodriguez has been promoted to the Mariners. Marte has elite speed and power potential and should be a key component of the Mariners for years to come. The youth movement in the Pacific Northwest is going to keep the Mariners competitive for years, and Marte will be a huge part of it. He should obviously already be rostered in all dynasty formats. Marte projects to be called up in 2023, so redraft managers may want to keep an eye on him if he gets the call late this year.

Wed Feb 9 202216:26Noelvi Marte Could Be Seattle's Next Elite Prospect
Seattle Mariners shortstop Noelvi Marte is following in the footsteps of Seattle outfielders Jarred Kelenic and Julio Rodriguez as an elite hitting prospect. Marte almost had a 20-20 season as a 19-year-old in 2021 while making his full-season debut, and he's projected to be a top-10 prospect on MLB Pipeline heading into the 2023 season after he finished 2021 ranked No. 11. Between Single-A and High-A in 107 games last year, Marte hit .273/.366/.460 with 17 home runs, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 91 runs scored in 511 plate appearances. Marte could wind up at the hot corner eventually, but his bat will play anywhere, and he has the ability to hit for average and power at the major league level.

Wed Aug 4 202102:19Noelvi Marte Hits Three Homers In Minors
Seattle Mariners infielder Noelvi Marte had the best game of his career for the Low-A Modesto Nuts Tuesday, going 4-for-5 with three homers, a walk, five runs scored, and nine RBI. The 19-year old prospect now has 15 home runs and 15 steals in 307 at-bats this season. Marte has years to go before he reaches the majors, but he's making a strong case to be on the radar for fantasy managers in dynasty and keeper leagues.
