Royals transferred RHP Henry Barrera to the 60-day disabled list. |
The 25-year-old right-hander had Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow in 2009 but came back to post a 2.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9.6 K/9 rate over 22 appearances between High- and Double-A last season. He suffered a bone bruise on his right elbow and a strained flexor tendon earlier this spring and was shut down. The roster move cleared a spot on the 40-man roster that the club used to claim Robert Fish. |

The 24-year-old California native was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 MLB June Amateur Draft. He has allowed four earned runs in eight innings this season at the Single-A level, but has also fanned better than a batter per inning. If Barrera can stay healthy, the majors might be in his future. |
