Wed Mar 1323:45Steven Wilson Heading To White Sox
San Diego Padres right-handed reliever Steven Wilson is expected to go to the Chicago White Sox in the trade that sent starter Dylan Cease to the Padres on Wednesday, according to sources. In addition to Wilson, the Padres also sent pitching prospects Drew Thorpe and Jairo Iriarte and outfielder Samuel Zavala. Wilson, 29, has posted a decent 3.48 ERA (4.33 FIP), a 1.11 WHIP, one save, 47 walks and 110 strikeouts in 106 innings pitched in San Diego the last two years. Given the sad state of the White Sox's bullpen as they rebuild, Wilson should immediately enter the closing mix in the Windy City alongside names like John Brebbia, Deivi Garcia and Jordan Leasure. It will give him a little more fantasy appeal for those desperate for saves in deeper leagues.

Fri Jul 14 202316:19Steven Wilson Returns From Injured List
The San Diego Padres activated relief pitcher Steven Wilson (pectoral) from the 15-day injured list to begin the second half of the season on Friday. Wilson will return to the big leagues for the first time since late June after he landed on the injured list with a right-pectoral strain. It's great news for a Padres bullpen that has had its share of issues in close games in 2023. The 28-year-old right-hander probably isn't going to see many save chances, if any, but he's been an integral part of the Friars back end of the bullpen the last two years and is returning to a solid 2.43 ERA (3.98 FIP), 1.00 WHIP, 16 walks and 40 strikeouts in 37 relief innings this year. Wilson will be valuable in fantasy leagues that count holds as he returns to a high-leverage setup role in front of closer Josh Hader.

Wed Jul 5 202308:28Steven Wilson Could Return Following The All-Star Break
The San Diego Padres placed reliever Steven Wilson (pectoral) on the 15-day injured list after he sustained a right pectoral strain during his last outing on June 24. However, the team believes he'll be ready to return when first eligible, which will be after the All-Star break. Wilson has been phenomenal out of the Padres pen this season, posting a 2.43 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 27.4% strikeout rate with 16 holds over 37 innings. The 28-year-old doesn't hold much value in standard formats but should be rostered in most hold leagues.

Thu Sep 29 202216:38Steven Wilson To Serve As Opener Thursday
San Diego Padres rookie right-hander Steven Wilson will serve as the opener on Thursday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Nelson will be making his first career major-league start in this one, but he's unlikely to be a realistic fantasy streamer in what should be a short outing. He's made 47 relief appearances in 2022, posting a 2.88 ERA (4.14 FIP), a 1.04 WHIP, one save and a 50:18 K:BB in 50 innings pitched for the Friars. The 28-year-old has maxed out at three innings in relief this year, so don't expect him to go deep in this one against a tough opponent.
