Thu Mar 1414:33Logan Gilbert Enduring Rough Spring
Seattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert has been getting roughed up so far in Cactus League action. The 26-year-old began his spring with a pair of shutout innings against the Royals on Feb. 28 but has since yielded an eye-popping 10 earned runs on nine hits, including two homers, with three walks against seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings and two starts since. The back-to-back blowups have jumped Gilbert's spring ERA to 14.21 along with a 2.05 WHIP across 6 1/3 innings of work. The tough spring results to date don't require the panic button due to Gilbert's track record but the situation is worth monitoring at this time of the year. He posted a 3.73 ERA and ranked fifth with a 4.7% BB% among qualified pitchers a season ago.

Thu Jan 1114:08Logan Gilbert, Mariners Settle At $4.05 Million
The Seattle Mariners and right-hander Logan Gilbert have settled on a one-year, $4.05 million contract, avoiding arbitration in the process. Thursday marks the deadline for clubs to either settle with their arbitration-eligible players or for the two sides to enter dollar figures before going to arbitration. Gilbert is coming off another solid season for the Mariners, working to a 3.73 ERA across 32 starts and a career-high 190 2/3 innings of work. The 26-year-old thrives with his control as his 4.7% BB% was the fifth-best mark in baseball among 44 qualified pitchers. As a result, he posted a hearty 19.9% K-BB% despite a solid, yet unspectacular 24.6% K%. He remains a rock-solid fantasy asset ahead of the 2024 season.

Thu Dec 14 202321:49Red Sox Rebuffed On Logan Gilbert, George Kirby
It's no secret that the Boston Red Sox are looking for starting pitching help this offseason, whether through free agency or a trade, although they're far more interested in acquiring a pitcher with multiple years of control. They approached the Seattle Mariners about young right-handers Logan Gilbert and George Kirby but were rebuffed. It's going to take a lot to get the M's to move two young starters that they are trying to build around, and it's not like Boston has a very strong farm system to pull from to begin with. It's more likely that the Red Sox will go strong after a free-agent starter like Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery or Lucas Giolito. They're also in the mix with Japanese star starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but Boston is considered more of a long shot to land him to headline their starting rotation.

Wed Aug 2 202320:32Logan Gilbert Earns A Quality Start In No-Decision
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert took a no-decision on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts over six innings in a 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox. Gilbert wasn't at his best in this one as he worked around a lot of traffic, but he did just enough to hold Boston's lineup down and keep the M's in the contest. He walked Connor Wong in the top of the third inning before serving up a two-run blast to Jarren Duran to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Masataka Yoshida then slapped a soft-contact infield single to J.P. Crawford that scored Wong again in the fifth frame, but that would be all Boston got off Gilbert. He's now picked up a quality start in five of his last eight turns and owns a 9-5 record, 3.86 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 126:24 K/BB over 130 2/3 innings (22 starts) on the year. He's tentatively lined up to face the Padres at home on Tuesday for his next start.

Tue Aug 1 202315:34Mariners Not Discussing Logan Gilbert
The Seattle Mariners are not discussing starter Logan Gilbert in trade talks, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi. Although Seattle was reportedly willing to trade some of its young arms, it looks like Gilbert will stay with the team. He has been quite effective through 21 starts this season, going 9-5 with a 3.55 FIP, 8.74 K/9, 1.52 BB/9, and 42.3 GB%. He should continue to be rostered in all fantasy baseball leagues.

Mon Jul 10 202313:01Logan Gilbert Picks Up Seventh Win To Close Out First Half
Seattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert picked up his seventh win of the season in the team's 3-1 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday to close out the first half of the season. Gilbert allowed just one earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out six in seven strong frames. It wasn't as impressive as his last outing, which was a complete game against the San Francisco Giants, but it was good enough to give the M's a victory heading into the All-Star break. The 26-year-old has now given up two or fewer earned runs in five of his last seven starts and appears ready to continue his strong performances to close out the month of July after this week's break. Gilbert is 7-5 overall with a 3.66 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 106 K's in 108 1/3 innings over his 18 starts.

Sat Jun 24 202301:44Logan Gilbert Goes Seven Strong Innings In Win
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert earned the win on Friday when he allowed just one run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk over seven innings in a 13-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Gilbert was locked in on this one, scattering just two baserunners over his first six innings. Anthony Santander tagged him for a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning but the Mariners provided more than enough run support to cover up the mistake. The 26-year-old righty has had an up-and-down campaign but this start showed his more than capable of shutting down a great offense. He'll carry a 5-4 record, 4.07 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 89:17 K/BB ratio over 86 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a home start against the Nationals next week.

Sun Jun 11 202309:28Logan Gilbert Starting Sunday, Bryce Miller Moved To Monday
Seattle Mariners starting pitchers Logan Gilbert and Bryce Miller are alternating spots for their next starts. Gilbert will take the ball for Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels while Miller toes the rubber for Monday's series opener versus the Miami Marlins. It affords the rookie, Miller, with another day of rest after he relinquished a staggering 15 runs over his last two outings. The 24-year-old had only let in four runs across his first 33 1/3 innings this season. Gilbert, on the other hand, takes the mound in Anaheim opposing a team he owns a 3.51 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 33 1/3 career innings against. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Wed Jun 7 202302:28Logan Gilbert Shuts Down San Diego For Fourth Victory
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert earned the win on Tuesday when he allowed one run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts over seven innings in a 4-1 win over the San Diego Padres. This was an excellent bounce-back start from the 26-year-old who was blasted for seven runs in his last start against the Yankees at home. While the Padres lineup may not be playing up to its potential, it's still an intimidating one. Gilbert did not back down on Tuesday, throwing 61 of his 97 pitches for strikes, including 14 swinging strikes. Fernando Tatis Jr. was the only blemish on his line tonight as he drove in Rougned Odor with an RBI groundout in the third inning. The solid effort by Gilbert lowers his season ERA to go along with a 0.96 WHIP and 79:13 K/BB ratio over 12 starts (71 innings). He'll look to add another win to his 4-3 record when he faces the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim on Sunday.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert logged just his second win of the year in a 7-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. He struck out nine hitters, giving up only two runs, four hits, and one walk along the way. The 26-year-old continues a rock-solid season with a 3.91 ERA and an even better 1.02 WHIP despite surrendering multiple runs in each of his last six starts. Even though he hasn't been overly dominant, Gilbert is yet to succumb to any type of blow-up game in 2023. He's preserved his ERA from rising above 4.23 at any point. The former first-rounder tentatively has a date with the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.

He's seen a solid increase in velocity for his second-most thrown pitch, his slider. Last year, the pitch had an average velocity of 83.4 mph. This year, it's up to 86.1 mph. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which will be on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert will make his second appearance of the young season Thursday, facing off against Jimmy Lambert and a tough Chicago White Sox lineup. With several key White Sox on the bench, it may be a favorable matchup for the young righty, who impressed in his season debut. Gilbert threw five innings against the Minnesota Twins, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. With the strikeout upside to support a big breakout, Gilbert has shown why fantasy managers have been buying stock early in this 2022 campaign.

Fri Mar 25 202211:14Logan Gilbert Looks Great In First Spring Start
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert struck out six hitters in three innings against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday in his first Cactus League start. He gave up a solo home run in his first inning. The right-hander was touching 91 mph with his slider, and he looks ready to push for All-Star status in 2022. Only one of his six strikeouts on the day came on his fastball. If Gilbert can display a solid three-pitch mix this year, he could be very effective for the Mariners and fantasy managers. Although the 24-year-old had a 4.68 ERA last year, he coupled it with a solid 1.17 WHIP and 128 K's in 119 1/3 innings over 24 starts in Seattle.

He allowed four runs on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts, and he took a no-decision in the contest. This outing was somewhat of a disappointment for fantasy managers after Gilbert had put together back-to-back quality starts, but Gilbert still has a 2.93 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 27 2/3 September innings. He's worth a start in the final week of the season.
