Sat May 17 201411:21Astros sign Kyle Farnsworth to bolster 'pen
Astros signed RHP Kyle Farnsworth.
It didn't take long for the free agent hurler to find new work after being released by the Mets on Wednesday. With as bad as the Astros bullpen has been, Farnsworth should quickly work his way into a setup role.

Thu May 15 201416:57Kyle Farnsworth elects free agency
Kyle Farnsworth has elected free agency.
This, of course, is no surprise. Farnsworth was caught off guard and angry after he learned that the Mets outrighted him to Triple-A following Wednesday's game. The veteran right-hander owns a 3.18 ERA over 19 appearances this year and will attempt to catch on elsewhere.

Thu May 15 201409:01Farnsworth outright off Mets' 40-man roster
Mets sent RHP Kyle Farnsworth outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Farnsworth told reporters Wednesday that he is "very bitter" about the move, and the veteran right-hander is fully expected to refuse the outright assignment and become a free agent. He had been serving as the Mets' closer as recently as Monday and owns a cool 3.18 ERA in 19 total appearances this year. The Mets cut him to avoid a cash payout related to a 45-day consent waiver.

Wed May 14 201422:57Report: Mets release RHP Kyle Farnsworth
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the Mets released Kyle Farnsworth.
It's a curious move, given that Farnsworth saved a game as recently as Monday for the Mets. The right-hander had a 3.18 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 17 innings of work, but his effectiveness had tailed off in recent weeks after a hot start. Given that he's had some success this season, the 38-year-old likely won't be out of a job for too long.

Mon May 12 201423:22Kyle Farnsworth picks up third save
Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless ninth for a save in a two-run game against the Yankees on Monday.
Farnsworth walked Derek Jeter to start things and then caught a break on Mark Teixeira's shot to right with one out. Between Teixeira being gimpy and Curtis Granderson getting a perfect bounce off the wall, Teixeira had to be held out at first. Brian McCann came up next and hit a hard shot, but Lucas Duda gloved it and turned it into a double play that wouldn't have materialized had the runner been on second. So, Farnsworth escaped, but he did nothing to inspire much confidence.

Sun May 4 201413:39Collins: Kyle Farnsworth is still Mets closer
Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Kyle Farnsworth is still the team's closer.
Farnsworth blew his first save of the season Saturday and has allowed four runs over his last three appearances. However, the veteran reliever has pitched decently overall (3.55 ERA) and the Mets don't really have any other great options. Obviously, his leash is pretty short.

Sun May 4 201400:10Farnsworth blows save, Mets fall to Rockies
Kyle Farnsworth blew his first save of the season in the Mets' loss to the Rockies on Saturday.
Farnsworth was called on in the bottom of the ninth inning to protect New York's one-run lead and failed at the task. He gave up a leadoff single to Troy Tulowitzki and a walkoff two-run blast to Charlie Culberson. The Mets' woes at closer have no end in sight.

Wed Apr 23 201423:57Kyle Farnsworth barely escapes with save
Kyle Farnsworth gave up a run in the ninth on Wednesday, but he still picked up his second save against the Cardinals.
Matt Carpenter tried to score the game-tying run on Daniel Descalso's double, but was thrown out at the plate, giving Farnsworth new life. Farnsworth then got Matt Holliday to fly out to end it. While it goes down as a save, it wouldn't make us feel a whole lot better about owning Farnsworth. Expect him to remain pretty shaky.

Tue Apr 22 201411:56Mets say Kyle Farnsworth is healthy
Kyle Farnsworth was spotted hunched over in the tunnel to the clubhouse and shaking his forearm after converting a save Monday night against the Cardinals, but the Mets say that he is "fine."
Farnsworth acknowledged after the game that he was shaky his forearm, but he merely chalked it up to him being "old." It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it wouldn't be surprising if he gets a night off Tuesday.

Sun Apr 20 201410:14Kyle Farnsworth takes over as Mets' closer
Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Kyle Farnsworth has supplanted Jose Valverde as the team's new closer.
Farnsworth has pitched well for the Mets in the early going, allowing just one run over his first 7 1/3 relief innings. However, his velocity has been declining for a few years now and he hasn't had an effective full season since 2011. It's a move that's unlikely to work out, but the Mets don't have any great options.

Tue Apr 1 201413:33Farnworth to join Mets on Wednesday
Kyle Farnsworth will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
He'll replace the injured Bobby Parnell (elbow) on the roster. Farnsworth wasn't all that impressive during spring training, but the Mets are hopeful that the veteran right-hander will add some stability to a bullpen that already looks like a weak spot. He'll have to be added to the 40-man roster.

Kyle Farnsworth has decided to opt out of his contract with the Mets after being told he won't make the Opening Day roster, according to his agent Barry Meister.

Wed Mar 19 201422:49Farnsworth unlikely to break camp with Mets
Kyle Farnsworth isn't likely to make the Mets out of spring training, according to New York Daily News writer Andy Martino.
Martino has heard from Mets insiders who cite Farnsworth's velocity, which has sat around 87-89 mph, and a "flat" fastball as reasons the right-hander "is probably not long for the Mets." Farnsworth is in camp as a non-roster invite after signing a minor league contract in February.
