The move clears a spot for on the active roster for Francisley Bueno. Colon allowed six runs on 12 hits in three appearances (eight innings) for the Royals. He seems likely to pass through waivers unclaimed and accept an organizational depth role in the minors.

The deal also comes with an invitation to spring training, but Colon is doubtful to earn a spot in the Royals' Opening Day bullpen. He spent the entire 2011 season at the Triple-A level, posting a 4.85 ERA in 29 2/3 innings. The righty will function as organizational relief depth for the Royals.

Colon spent the 2010 season with the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization. He owns a 5.12 career ERA and 1.49 career WHIP over 179 1/3 total major league innings. The 31-year-old will begin 2011 at Triple-A.

The Royals sold Roman Colon's contract to the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization, according to Royalsprospects.com's Greg Schaum.
The Royals designated him for assignment last month and outrighted him to Triple-A Omaha on April 21. Colon, 30, allowed four runs in two innings (18.00 ERA) for the Royals this season prior to his demotion. He posted a 4.83 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 29/22 K/BB ratio in 50 1/3 innings last season.
