Tue Feb 2712:14Alec Bohm Expected To Play On Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that third baseman Alec Bohm (neck) is expected to make his Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves. Bohm has had a neck issue in camp the last few days, but he's good to go now and will start playing in spring games this week. The Phillies were being cautious with the 27-year-old when they held him out of games this past weekend. He will be ready for Opening Day at the end of March, barring any sort of setback once he begins playing in games. Bohm hit .274/.327/.437 with a career-high 20 home runs, 97 RBI and four stolen bases in 145 games in 2023 in his fourth year in the big leagues. He was a solid run producer for the Phils and fantasy managers, but it's fair to wonder how much more Bohm can actually improve, especially if he hits near the bottom of the batting order.

Fri Feb 2314:39Alec Bohm, Rafael Marchan Sidelined For Start Of Cactus League Play
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (neck) and catcher Rafael Marchan (back) are both being held out of action due to their respective injuries, manager Rob Thomson told Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Bohm is dealing with neck spasms and won't play this weekend. It doesn't sound like this injury is too serious, and the talented infielder should be back in the mix soon. There's less clarity on Marchan, who is merely "being held out of action for now," according to Gelb. Marchan hasn't played in the majors since 2021, but he slashed .297/.391/.440 with an 11.6 BB% and 9.7 K% through 51 games at Triple-A last year.

Fri Feb 1617:11Alec Bohm Wins Arbitration Over Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm won his salary arbitration hearing over the team on Thursday and will make $4 million in 2024 instead of the $3.4 million that the Phillies proposed. This was Bohm's first year of arbitration eligibility after he slashed .274/.327/.437 with a career-high 20 home runs, 31 doubles, a career-high 97 RBI, four stolen bases and 74 runs scored in 611 trips to the plate over 145 games played last year in his fourth year in the big leagues with the Phils. The 27-year-old is ranked just inside the top 15 fantasy third baseman by RotoBaller heading into the 2024 season. He showed slightly better plate skills in 2023 but didn't hit the ball as hard. His 2023 production could be his ceiling, especially while hitting near the bottom of Philly's stacked lineup.

Mon Oct 16 202319:45Alec Bohm Hitting In Cleanup Spot
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm will bat in the cleanup spot in the lineup ahead of Monday's Game 1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Phillies' manager Rob Thompson has declined to make any changes to his lineup prior to this contest. Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos have been on fire with this current lineup, so Thompson doesn't want to fix something that isn't broken. Although, Bohm has struggled going 4-for-21 during the postseason so far. He'll bat behind Harper in the four-hole and cover third base versus right-hander Zac Gallen during Game 1 of the NLCS.

Wed Oct 4 202314:48Alec Bohm Looking To Continue Success Versus Braxton Garrett Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies corner infielder Alec Bohm will look to continue his success against Miami Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett when the two meet for Wednesday's Game 2 in Philadelphia. It's not a huge sample, but Bohm is 5-for-9 (.556) with a homer and a walk against Garrett while striking out in just one of his 10 plate appearances against him. Bohm enjoys much of his success against lefties in general, hitting .303 with a hefty .929 OPS against southpaws this season. He hit 12 of his 20 home runs off of lefties this season despite seeing 277 more plate appearances against right-handed pitching. The 27-year-old's bat could go a long way in sending the Marlins packing in this NL Wild Card series.

Sun Sep 3 202312:00Alec Bohm Playing First Base Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies corner infielder Alec Bohm is starting at first base and hitting fifth against the Milwaukee Brewers and left-hander Wade Miley on Sunday. Bohm will shift across the infield after starting at third base each of the last three games. He's been much better against left-handers this year, going 42-for-133 (.316) with nine of his 15 home runs in 143 plate appearances, so fantasy managers will want him in their starting lineups despite the fact he's gone just 1-for-11 with a double in his last three games. The 27-year-old is hitting .279/.336/.434 with 15 home runs, 82 RBI, four stolen bases and 66 runs scored in 459 games in 2023 in his fourth MLB season for the Phils. In just four career at-bats against Miley, he has two hits and two RBI.

Tue Aug 22 202300:32Alec Bohm Homers Monday, Stays Hot
Philadelphia Phillies first/third baseman Alec Bohm had another nice night at the plate in Monday's 10-4 win over the Giants. Bohm went 3-for-4 with a single, a double, and a solo home run. The 27-year-old has put together a nice season overall, slashing .285/.338/.429 with 13 HR, 77 RBI, and four stolen bases. While the power hasn't been fully realized, Bohm has started to show why he was a former higher-end prospect. He should be able to provide consistent fantasy production for the rest of the season.

Fri Jun 30 202314:44Alec Bohm Returns To The Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Washington Nationals. The right-handed slugger is back in the lineup after receiving a rest day on Thursday. The 26-year-old has seen more playing time than originally expected this season due to the glaring hole at first base. Bohm has been decent, hitting 271 with a homer and 10 RBI in 14 games since returning from the injured list. Fantasy managers can get him back in their lineups for this one.

Thu Jun 29 202318:08Alec Bohm Missing From Thursday’s Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Alec Bohm is absent from Thursday's lineup against right-hander Kyle Hendricks and the Chicago Cubs. The lefty-hitting Kody Clemens will cover the cold corner and hit ninth in this one. Bohm gets a breather while batting .261 with a .650 OPS over 184 at-bats versus righties in contrast to hitting .282 with an .856 OPS across 71 ABs vs. left-handers this season. The 26-year-old is in line to encounter two righties during a weekend set with the Washington Nationals, but fantasy managers should expect Bohm to be busy considering the thin Phillies first-base depth chart.

Thu Jun 15 202315:03Alec Bohm Back In The Lineup Thursday Afternoon
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm will return to the starting lineup Thursday afternoon against Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson. Bohm sat out Wednesday night's extra-innings win but will return to third base and hit sixth on Thursday afternoon. The 26-year-old enjoyed a strong month of April but has tailed off since. Bohm has hit just .257 with three home runs, one stolen base, and a .676 OPS since May 1. His 82 wRC+ in that time represents production 18% below the league average while he has just three doubles over his last 110 trips to the plate. However, with a .334 xwOBA that sits above his .315 wOBA, fantasy managers can expect an uptick in production moving forward.

Sun Jun 11 202312:07Phillies Reinstate Alec Bohm From Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated infielder Alec Bohm (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned infielder Drew Ellis to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. After recovering from his left-hamstring strain, Bohm is back at third base and is hitting fifth in the batting order on Sunday against Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Caleb Ferguson. The 26-year-old missed just over 10 days with a hamstring strain, but he's back in there and should continue to see playing time at both third and first base for the Phillies. Before his injury, Bohm was hitting .265 (52-for-196) with nine doubles, six home runs, 37 RBI, two steals and 23 runs scored in 215 plate appearances and 53 games. Get him back into your lineups on Sunday.

Fri Jun 9 202322:31Alec Bohm Won't Return On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies infielder Alec Bohm (hamstring) won't return on Saturday as initially expected. According to skipper Rob Thomson, the 26-year-old experienced soreness in his left hamstring, although the team doesn't consider this a setback. Bohm has played relatively well in 2023, amassing 23 runs, 52 hits, and six home runs in 196 at-bats. The latest update is certainly discouraging for fantasy managers. However, it seems there's still a chance Bohm will be back soon, hopefully sometime within the next few days.

Thu Jun 8 202316:23Alec Bohm On Track To Be Activated Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) is on track to return from the 10-day injured list this Saturday after he had a strenuous workout on the field on Thursday. Bohm is dealing with a mild left-hamstring strain and should be back for the Phillies and fantasy managers this weekend during a series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. With Rhys Hoskins (knee) out for the year and Darick Hall (thumb) recovering from a torn thumb ligament, Bohm has been splitting time between third and first base in 2023. He'll be returning to an everyday role in Philly and a .265/.321/.403 slash line with a .724 OPS, nine doubles, six home runs, 37 RBI and 23 runs scored in 53 games. Bohm should be rostered in all but the shallowest of mixed leagues.

Tue Jun 6 202309:56Alec Bohm Could Return On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) told reporters on Monday that he believes he could return to the club on Saturday, according to MLB.com. The former top prospect was placed on the injured list on May 31 as he was dealing with a strained left hamstring. Before going down, Bohm was slashing .265/.321/.403 with six bombs, 23 runs, 37 RBI, and a pair of steals over 53 contests. Fantasy managers can expect Edmundo Sosa to keep getting the majority of reps at third base in his absence. The 27-year-old is hitting .254 with four home runs and one stolen base over 45 games and should be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.

Thu Jun 1 202312:00Alec Bohm Lands On Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies placed third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained left hamstring and recalled infielder Drew Ellis from the minors in a corresponding move. Bohm aggravated his hamstring injury on Tuesday, although the Phillies are calling it a "very mild" strain, so the 26-year-old could return from the IL when he's eligible. In 53 games so far this year, Bohm is hitting .265 (52-for-196) with nine doubles, six home runs, 37 RBI, two stolen bases and 23 runs scored. Keep him stashed in all fantasy formats while he heals up. In the meantime, Edmundo Sosa figures to see most of the playing time at the hot corner, with Josh Harrison occasionally filling in.

Wed May 31 202316:50Alec Bohm Undergoes MRI, Could Land On Injured List
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) underwent an MRI exam on Wednesday on his bothersome left hamstring, and the team is awaiting the results. Bohm is not in Wednesday's lineup against the division-rival New York Mets and is unsure if he'll need time on the injured list. The 26-year-old didn't play on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves, but he returned for the series opener against the Mets on Tuesday before going 0-for-3. He may have suffered a setback on Tuesday, and fantasy managers need to prepare for a potential extended absence. Bohm has gone 7-for-25 (.280) with a double, home run and five RBI in his last seven games and is hitting .265 on the season with six long balls and 37 RBI. Edmundo Sosa would be Philly's regular third baseman if Bohm lands on the IL.

Tue May 30 202317:54Alec Bohm Returning On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. He sat out of Sunday's contest versus the Atlanta Braves due to hamstring tightness. Luckily, it appears that was only a minor issue as Bohm will be back in the lineup on Tuesday. He'll bat sixth and play third base versus righty Kodai Senga in this game. Fantasy managers should make sure to adjust their lineups with Bohm back.

Sun May 28 202316:37Alec Bohm Is Absent From The Lineup On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is sitting out for Sunday's series finale against the Atlanta Braves. This is just a day off Bohm who is slashing .269/.325/.409 to go along with six home runs, 37 RBI, and two stolen bases over 193 at-bats on the year. Edmundo Sosa is starting at third base in his place and batting ninth against Spencer Strider and the Braves.

Fri Apr 7 202316:17Alec Bohm, Kody Clemens To Share 1B Playing Time
Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that infielder Kody Clemens will be the team's first baseman against right-handed pitchers with Darick Hall (thumb) unlikely to return until later this season due to a torn ligament in his thumb that requires surgery. Third baseman Alec Bohm could slide over to first base against left-handed pitchers, but Thomson said Bohm is "our third baseman." Edmundo Sosa and Josh Harrison could man the hot corner on days that Bohm shifts to first base. Clemens got the start at first on Friday against right-hander Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds and hit eighth in the batting order. The 26-year-old hit just .145 with five homers and 17 RBI in 56 games in his first MLB season last year with the Detroit Tigers. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much, but the uptick in playing time makes him worth a flier in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues.

Thu Feb 16 202315:06Alec Bohm Gains 5-10 Pounds Of Muscle
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm said that he gained five to 10 pounds of muscle during the offseason. Bohm had his best season in his third MLB campaign in 2022 on the way to helping the Phillies to a World Series appearance. He slashed .280/.315/.398 with a .713 OPS and career-highs in home runs (13), RBI (72) and runs scored (79) in 631 plate appearances over 152 games played. Cutting his strikeout rate from 26.6 percent to 17.4 percent was a big key to his improvement. However, the 26-year-old will need to get better at drawing walks and avoid chasing pitches outside the zone in order to continue his ascent offensively. There also isn't a ton of power projection moving forward, which limits his fantasy ceiling in the long term.
