Miami Marlins shortstop Jose Devers (shoulder) is starting his minor league rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Thursday. Once Devers is fully cleared, he's expected to be assigned to Triple-A Jacksonville. The 22-year-old is working his way back from season-ending right shoulder surgery last August. He could eventually be called up to the big-league roster later this year, but he'd probably only serve as a backup infielder for the Fish. Devers played in his first 21 major league games last year and finished with a .244/.304/.317 slash line with a .621 OPS, no home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored in 46 total plate appearances.

He had been sidelined for two months with what was originally reported as shoulder discomfort. Devers made his major league debut this season, and over 21 games with Miami he slashed .244/.304/.317 with five RBI and seven runs scored. He's shown some decent speed potential in the minors, and is worth stashing in dynasty formats.
