Jeff Larish provided all of the Pirates offense in Friday's loss to the Red Sox, delivering a two-run single in his only at-bat.

The 30-year-old Larish hasn't seen time in the big leagues since the 2010 season with the Tigers, but is hoping to make the Pirates Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder. While the odds are certainly against him, he at least got started out on the right foot.

He had inconsistent power in the minor leagues, and struggles against lefties, but at least he can take a walk. Most likely, he goes down once another corner outfielder / first baseman gets healthy, since Carter can back up first, too.
