Tue Apr 1613:28Trevor Larnach Called Up, Matt Wallner Sent Down
The Minnesota Twins announced on Tuesday that they recalled outfielder Trevor Larnach (toe) from Triple-A St. Paul and optioned outfielder Matt Wallner to St. Paul in a corresponding move. Larnach was recently activated from the Triple-A injured list due to turf toe, but he'll now head to Minnesota to make his 2024 debut. Wallner will head to the farm to work on some things after starting off 2-for-25 with the Twins. The 27-year-old Larnach started last year in the big leagues but was sent to St. Paul after a slow start at the plate. The left-handed slugger has some intriguing power upside from the left side in a likely platoon role in Minnesota, but he's probably not going to help your team batting average and has been injury-prone in his career to this point.

Thu Apr 1116:29Trevor Larnach Starting Rehab Assignment On Thursday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach (toe) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Thursday night with Single-A Fort Myers. Larnach is working his way back after being placed on the Triple-A injured list on March 29 due to turf toe. If the 27-year-old outfielder doesn't suffer any setbacks with his toe while with Fort Myers, he'll be returned to Triple-A St. Paul in short order. The former 20th overall pick in 2018 out of Oregon State has yet to stick at the major-league level, hitting .222/.315/.385 with 20 home runs and 86 RBI in 188 games played in parts of the last three seasons. Nothing about his defense in the outfield stands out, and although he has drawn plenty of walks, he's failed to make enough consistent contact at the plate to play regularly for the Twins. A platoon role will be likely if he's back with the Twins in 2024.

Mon Jul 31 202312:25Trevor Larnach Drawing Trade Interest
The Minnesota Twins left-handed-hitting outfielders continue to draw trade interest with the Aug. 1 trade deadline nearly here, namely Max Kepler, Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner. Larnach is drawing interest from multiple teams, including the San Diego Padres and New York Mets. Given the team's preference to trade off the MLB roster or Triple-A St. Paul, dealing from this strength seems likely by Tuesday. Larnach, a 26-year-old former first-rounder, makes perfect sense to be shipped away, as he hasn't really had much of an impact yet consistently in the major leagues for the Twins. In 162 at-bats in 2023, he's hitting just .216/.314/.401 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 23 runs scored in 50 games. Larnach is slashing .223/.315/.380 with a .695 OPS in his three big-league seasons.

Tue May 16 202321:52Trevor Larnach Absent From Tuesday's Lineup
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach is missing from the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The third-year player has been productive over 34 games this year, slashing .233/.341/.414 with five homers, 17 runs, and 26 RBI. However, Larnach is likely part of a platoon, so with the lefty Kershaw on the mound, he'll have a seat. Taking his spot in the lineup is Michael A. Taylor, playing center field and batting seventh. The glove-first player isn't known for his bat and has been terrible versus lefties this season, sporting a .174 batting average. Fantasy managers should probably stay away from the 32-year-old unless they need stolen bases, which Taylor has six of already.

Sat May 13 202313:19Trevor Larnach Recalled From Triple-A
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul after Max Kepler (hamstring) was placed on the injured list. Larnach has been white hot in the minors, going 7-for-14 with two home runs and six RBI over the last four games. He'll get another shot to make an impact at the major league level after posting a lackluster .221 batting average and .686 OPS over his first 104 at-bats. He should be left on the waiver wire for now, outside of the deepest leagues, due to playing time uncertainty.

Fri May 5 202318:11Alex Kirilloff Recalled From Minors, Trevor Larnach Optioned
Minnesota Twins outfielder Alex Kirilloff has been recalled from Triple-A while fellow outfielder Trevor Larnach has been optioned in a corresponding move. It appears it was time for Kirilloff to get another look in the big leagues after taking Triple-A pitching to begin the season. The 25-year-old hit .316 with three homers, two stolen bases, and a 1.040 OPS across 10 games and 46 trips to the plate at Triple-A St. Paul prior to his promotion. He hit just .250 with three homers and a .651 OPS across 45 appearances with the Twins last season. Larnach got a steady dose of playing time in left field for the Twins of late but failed to make the most of it. The lefty-swinging outfielder hit just .221 with three homers and a .687 OPS, striking out in 34.7% of his plate appearances despite an excellent 14.5% BB%.

Wed Apr 5 202308:48Trevor Larnach Starting The Year Off Strong
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach went 1-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. It was another solid showing for the 26-year-old, who's slashing .421/.522/.684 with a home run, four runs, and five RBI over five games. Larnach is a recent former prospect but has yet to put it all together in the big leagues and has dealt with multiple injuries. Across 51 games last season, he hit .231 with a .712 OPS. If Larnach can put together a full season, he has the talent to provide fantasy managers with power and counting stats, as he's been a constant presence in the middle of the Twins lineup.

Sat Feb 25 202311:35Trevor Larnach Could Begin The Year In Minors
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach must demonstrate a lot in spring training in order to win a roster spot in 2023. The addition of infielder Donovan Solano means more time in the outfield for Joey Gallo and few designated hitter at-bats to go around. With the Twins roster being jam-packed, even a great spring from Larnach might not be enough if Alex Kirilloff (wrist) is healthy. If Larnach makes the Opening Day roster, he'll likely be a part-time DH and corner outfielder. It would be a surprise if both Kirilloff and Larnach are on the Opening Day roster together. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has looked healthy this spring after having season-ending core-muscle surgery in June of last year. The former first-rounder still has plenty of pop, so he's worth a look in deep mixed leagues if he makes the roster in a part-time role.

Mon Jun 27 202217:49Trevor Larnach To Have Core Muscle Surgery
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach (core) will have bilateral surgery to fix his core muscle injury, according to president of baseball operations Derek Falvey. The Twins are hoping that Larnach can return in roughly six weeks. The 25-year-old landed on the injured list on Saturday after already missing time in 2022 with a groin injury. He's only played in 51 games this year and is hitting .231/.306/.406 with five home runs, 18 RBI and 22 runs scored in 180 plate appearances. Larnach just hasn't been able to find his groove due to injuries, and he struggled in his rookie year in 2021 when he hit just .223 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 79 games. Nick Gordon should continue to benefit from regular playing time in the outfield with Larnach out for the foreseeable future.

Sat Jun 25 202213:40Trevor Larnach Lands On Injured List With Core Muscle Strain
The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder Trevor Larnach (core) on the 10-day injured list with a core muscle strain on Saturday. Fellow outfielder Mark Contreras was recalled from Triple-A to fill his roster spot. This is Larnach's second trip to the injured list this season. He missed about two weeks in May with a groin injury. The 25-year-old has appeared in 51 games this year and he's slashed .231/.306/.406 with five home runs, 18 RBI and 22 runs.

Sun May 22 202211:27Trevor Larnach Activated From Injured List
The Minnesota Twins activated outfielder Trevor Larnach (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and placed right-hander Cody Stashak (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement in a corresponding move. Larnach has missed the team's last 13 games with a right adductor strain after landing on the IL on May 8. He went 1-for-8 with a homer, three RBI and a run scored in two minor league rehab games with Double-A Wichita. The 25-year-old has hit .313 (21-for-67) with nine doubles, seven RBI, 12 runs scored, a .365 on-base percentage and an .813 OPS in 22 games so far this year. Larnach is starting in left field and hitting fifth on Sunday against Kansas City Royals right-hander Brady Singer.

Sat May 7 202212:32Trevor Larnach Absent From Saturday's Lineup
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach will begin Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics on the bench, according to MLB.com. It's looking like a breakout season for Larnach thus far, as he's slashing .313/.365/.448 with 12 runs and seven RBI, though no home runs, over 22 games. Taking his spot in the lineup is utility player Nick Gordon. The 26-year-old isn't known for his bat, hitting .244 this season with no home runs and a .613 OPS. The only thing Gordon offers is a bit of speed, as he stole 10 bases a season ago over 73 games. However, there are better options on the waiver wire in all formats, so passing over Gordon would be the right decision.

Wed Mar 30 202220:45Twins Option Jose Miranda, Trevor Larnach
The Minnesota Twins optioned outfielder Trevor Larnach and third baseman Jose Miranda to Triple-A on Wednesday. Larnach made his big league debut with the team last year. He played in 79 games and slashed .223/.322/.350 with seven home runs, 28 RBI and 29 runs. Miranda, meanwhile, is one of the team's top prospects. The 23-year-old had a fantastic year in the minors last year. He split his time between Double-A and Triple-A, slashing .344/.401/.572 with 30 home runs, 94 RBI and 97 runs. Both Larnach and Miranda could be up in the majors some time soon, but Miranda is the one to really keep an eye on for fantasy purposes.

Fri Aug 6 202109:27Trevor Larnach Draws Two Walks, Plates A Run Thursday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach has been putting together better at-bats the last few games. Larnach reached base safely three times in Thursday's win over the Astros, plating a run with an RBI double. The hit registered an exit velocity of 102 MPH. Larnach struggled mightily in July, but things seem to be turning around for him, as he's 4-for-13 with three extra-base hits and four RBI in his last five games- while showing improved discipline at the dish. Larnach will get a tough matchup Friday against Astros' veteran Zack Greinke. However, the young outfielder makes for a solid, low-cost DFS option, given that he has hit righties better this season.

Wed Aug 4 202116:46Trevor Larnach Drives In A Pair
Minnesota Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Wednesday's loss to the Reds. Larnach helped cut the deficit to two runs with a timely double in the eighth inning, his third RBI in the last three games. The 24-year-old endured a brutal July where he hit just .191 with two homers, striking out 43 times in 94 at-bats, though perhaps he is starting to break out of the slump. Larnach still owns a superb barrel rate and hits the ball hard, but his poor plate discipline and contact rate of just 63.7 percent are severely limiting his fantasy value right now. There will be better days for the lefty slugger in the future, though he's best avoided in season-long leagues at the moment.
