Boesch (ankle) was reinstated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday.
After a quick, three-day rehab assignment at Triple-A, Boesch will return to Cincinnati, where he figures to see a decent amount of playing time as a corner outfielder over the final few weeks of the season. The 30-year-old has gone just 9-for-66 with 23 strikeouts in 36 major league games in 2015.

Boesch (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
Three days with the affiliate is all Boesch is expected to need to get back up to speed before rejoining the big league club. It's possible Boesch could take on a fair share of the playing time in left field upon his return, but he's gone just 9-for-66 with two extra-base hits, 23 strikeouts and three walks with the Reds so far this season (.341 OPS).
Sun Aug 30 201518:37Boesch (ankle) placed on disabled list Sunday
Boesch (ankle) was placed on the disabled list Sunday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Boesch's DL stint will be retroactive to Aug. 23, which could limit the overall time he spends on the disabled list. He hasn't been overly impressive in his time with the Reds, batting just .136/.174/.167 over 36 games with the club. However, given the other options available, he could be in line for more playing time in September when healthy.

Fri Aug 28 201516:59Boesch (ankle) remains out of lineup Friday against Brewers
Boesch (ankle) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Brewers.
It's not entirely clear whether Boesch's absence is indeed related to the ankle soreness he battled earlier in the week, as he's not a regular in the lineup, but he should be considered day-to-day until he does return to the field. Boesch has not made an appearance in any of the Reds' last five games.
Wed Aug 26 201515:13Boesch (ankle) remains out of lineup Wednesday
Boesch (ankle) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Boesch was battling a nagging ankle issue over the weekend, and Wednesday will mark his fourth straight absence from the lineup. However, it's unclear whether the ankle is still an issue given Boesch's status as a part-time player. Until the team says otherwise, continue to consider the outfielder day-to-day.
Tue Aug 25 201514:41Boesch (ankle) not in Tuesday's lineup
Boesch (ankle) is not in Tuesday's lineup, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Boesch has been battling what's believed to be a minor ankle issue for the past few days, and he'll sit out for the third straight game. Given the fact that he's not an everyday player, however, it's possible Boesch is simply being given the day off, as the Reds are yet to issue an update on his status. Regardless, Ivan De Jesus will start in left field Tuesday.
Mon Aug 24 201513:42Boesch (ankle) out of lineup Monday against Tigers
Boesch (ankle) is out of the lineup Monday against the Tigers.
Boesch's ankle issue forced him out of Sunday's lineup after initially being in it. The injury will hold him out Monday as well, but the team hasn't indicated the injury is considered severe. Skip Schumaker will receive the start in left field in his place Monday, batting leadoff for the Reds.

Boesch was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Diamondbacks due to a sore right ankle.
Boesch fouled a ball off the ankle in Saturday's game, so manager Bryan Price opted to give the outfielder a day to recover from the injury. Jason Bourgeois will shift over to left field to cover for Boesch's absence, while Ryan LaMarre will enter the lineup in center field.
Sun Aug 23 201512:52Boesch late scratch from Sunday's lineup against Diamondbacks
Boesch was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup against the Diamondbacks.
Initially slated to bat sixth and play left field, Boesch was replaced by Ryan LaMarre shortly before opening pitch for reasons that remain unclear. It's possible manager Bryan Price may have just had a change of heart regarding his lineup, but there's also a chance that Boesch may be nursing some sort of injury.

Boesch will make his third straight start in the corner outfield Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He'll bat sixth in the order.
With Marlon Byrd now donning a Giants uniform after he was traded Thursday, Boesch looks first in line to replace him as an everyday option, at least against right-handed pitching. Boesch notched a double and two RBI in Saturday's contest, but is still slashing a pathetic .136/.174/.167 on the season.
Wed Aug 19 201516:00Boesch recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday
Boesch was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Billy Hamilton hit the DL with a shoulder injury, opening the door for Boesch to return following a two-month stint in the minors. Jason Bourgeois is starting in center field and leading off Wednesday, and it seems likely Boesch will serve primarily in a reserve role despite hitting .331/.394/.438 with Louisville after his demotion. He went just 7-for-56 with 21 strikeouts with the big club earlier this season.
Tue Jun 16 201517:30Boesch optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday
Boesch was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
A strong spring landed Boesch in a bench role with the Reds to start the season, but he's been downright awful in limited action to this point, going 7-for-56 (.125 average) with one extra-base hit and 21 strikeouts. Ivan De Jesus and Skip Schumaker figure to see most of the time in left field until Marlon Byrd (wrist) returns.
