Mon Apr 114:40Jack Suwinski Sitting On Monday
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is on the bench to start Monday's contest against the Washington Nationals. It's been a tough start to the season for the lefty-swinging outfielder, but not from a performance standpoint but rather a playing time standpoint as the Pirates have faced a wealth of left-handed starters to begin the season and will do so again on Monday in the form of MacKenzie Gore. The 25-year-old started just two of the four games against the Marlins over the weekend, although he has still racked up 15 plate appearances thanks to pinch-hitting opportunities. He is 2-for-14 (.143) with a walk to begin the season but still offers a nice combination of power and speed coming off a 26-homer, 13-steal season in the 2023 campaign.

Sat Mar 3014:47Jack Suwinski Starting Versus Lefty Saturday
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is getting the start in left field on Saturday opposite Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers. It's a rare start for the lefty-swinging Suwinski against a southpaw but the Marlins have started a lefty in each of the three games to begin this series as Pirates skipper Derek Shelton looks to get Suwinski a start. He enjoyed a fine 2023 season that saw him hit .224 with 26 homers, 74 RBI, and 13 stolen bases but he also hit just .200 with only two homers and a .608 OPS against left-handed pitching. However, he also ranked righties for an .856 OPS and big-time .271 isolated power. Add in the speed and Suwinski remains a quality fantasy asset, even on the strong side of a platoon.

Sat Mar 1623:36Jack Suwinski Homers, Continues To Rake This Spring
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 spring win over the Atlanta Braves. Suwinski took Charlie Morton deep in the first inning to put the Pirates on the scoreboard. It was his fourth home run of the spring. The 25-year-old is slashing .324/.361/.765 with four home runs, nine RBI, five runs scored, and a stolen base over 12 games during spring training. He is expected to be the team's everyday right fielder after the Pirates signed Michael A. Taylor on Friday to handle center field duties. Suwinski slashed .224/.339/.454 with 26 home runs, 74 RBI, 63 runs, and 13 stolen bases over 534 plate appearances in 2023. Suwinski has power/speed potential, making him a high-upside pick if fantasy managers can withstand his low batting average at his current NFBC ADP of 230.

Thu Mar 711:47Jack Suwinski Hitless Wednesday
A day after hitting his first home run of the spring, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout in Wednesday's 6-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Orioles. The lefty hitter is now 3-for-15 (.200) in spring action with a home run and a double. More concerningly, he's also struck out six times, so managers hoping he would bring his K% down in 2024 may be disappointed. If he hits 26 home runs again and maintains his 2023 walk rate of 14.0%, they also may not care. RotoBaller ranks the 25-year-old at 220 overall, ahead of his NFBC ADP of 236.

Fri Sep 29 202312:24Jack Suwinski Picks Up Two Hits In Win Over Phillies
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 2-for-4 with an RBI while hitting in the cleanup spot in the 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. The second-year outfielder hit a wall in the second half of the season for the Pirates, but he's picked things up in September and is hoping to finish on a high note this weekend. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has batted .295 (23-for-78) with four home runs, three doubles, a triple, 16 RBI, four stolen bases and 12 runs scored in 24 games (22 starts) in the final month of the season. Overall, he's hitting .223/.341/.457 with 26 home runs, 72 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 435 at-bats in his second major-league campaign.

Tue Aug 15 202317:11Jack Suwinski Takes A Seat Against Lefty
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski will retreat to the bench on Tuesday with the team facing left-hander David Peterson and the New York Mets. Joshua Palacios will get the start in center field and will bat seventh in the order. The left-handed-hitting Suwinski has just five hits (one home run) in 77 at-bats against left-handers this season. He's provided plenty of pop for fantasy managers with 21 home runs in just his second major-league season after hitting 19 in his rookie campaign, but he's batting only .209 (67-for-321) with 53 RBI, eight stolen bases and 46 runs scored. The 25-year-old has been awful since the All-Star break, going 10-for-78 (.128) with two homers, five doubles, five RBI, 34 strikeouts, a steal and six runs scored in 25 games (21 starts).

Mon Jul 24 202319:23Jack Suwinski Returns To Starting Lineup Monday
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is back in the starting lineup Monday night against San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish. The lefty-swinging Suwinski didn't start Sunday's series finale against the Angels and southpaw Tyler Anderson but will predictably get right back into the lineup against a righty on Monday. It's been a big season for the 24-year-old in just his second big-league campaign as he has slugged 20 homers along with seven stolen bases and an .841 OPS across 87 appearances. The good news for fantasy managers is that his production is legit, as evidenced by a .375 xwOBA that actually sits above his current .360 wOBA.

Sat Jul 1 202322:43Jack Suwinski Homers, Drives In Four
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 11-8 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. He kickstarted things with a two-run single in the sixth inning to put the Pirates on the scoreboard. Suwinski later took Clayton Andrews deep in the eighth inning to cut the Brewers lead 11-5. It was his 17th long ball of the season. The 24-year-old has now homered twice over his last five games. He is slashing .228/.351/.498 with 17 home runs, 42 RBI, 36 runs, and seven stolen bases over 72 games in 2023. Suwinski will look to build on Saturday's performance in the Sunday series finale against the Brewers.

Sun May 28 202315:07Jack Suwinski Absent From Sunday's Lineup
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is not in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with Marco Gonzales and the Seattle Mariners. The 24-year-old is in the midst of a breakout campaign, slashing .234/.348/.482 with nine home runs, 16 runs, 26 runs, and five steals over 43 games. Chris Owings is taking his spot in the lineup, playing short and batting eighth. The former Arizona Diamondback has never been much of a hitter and is batting .167 with a .333 OPS over eight games this year. Owings is irrelevant in any fantasy league, and fantasy managers need to look elsewhere for a waiver wire addition.

Wed Sep 28 202211:34Jack Suwinski Sitting Wednesday
Pittsburgh Pirates rookie outfielder Jack Suwinski is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds. Suwinski has managed to clear the fences 18 times in his first 99 major-league games this year, but he's slashing just .195/.282/.406 with 35 RBI, 41 runs scored and four stolen bases in his 347 plate appearances for the Bucs. He's hitting .190 (15-for-79) with four homers, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and 31 strikeouts in 25 games in September. Miguel Andujar is getting the start in left field and is hitting third against Reds right-hander Luis Cessa. Andujar has gone 2-for-7 with four RBI and a run scored in his first two games for the Bucs, and it looks like the team is going to give him regular playing time to close out the 2022 season.
