Johnson spent all of last year in the Midwest League and hit .284/.413/.388 for West Michigan. The Tigers chose to jump him past the Florida State League and put him in Double-A this year, and he's responded with a .360/.407/.640 start in six games. Johnson is never going to move Austin Jackson out of center in Detroit and he's not going to have the bat for left field, but he might surface with the team as a reserve at some point. Unfortunately for him, the Tigers are loaded with fourth outfielder-types at the moment. |
