Sun Feb 2512:16Jazz Chisholm Jr. Making Spring Debut Sunday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (toe) is making his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday against the Washington Nationals and is batting cleanup and starting in center field. Chisholm battled turf toe last year and had to have surgery to fix it in October, but he's back in action in spring training and should be fully ready to go for the start of the 2024 regular season at the end of March. The 26-year-old is one of the bigger risk/reward fantasy commodities in baseball. In 97 games for the Fish last year, he hit .250/.304/.457 with 19 home runs and 22 stolen bases. If Chisholm can stay healthy -- he's played in over 100 games just once in his four major-league seasons -- he has the power/speed ability to be a league-winner for fantasy managers. RotoBaller has Chisholm ranked as the No. 17 fantasy outfielder entering his fifth MLB campaign.

Thu Feb 121:48Marlins Win Arbitration Case With Jazz Chisholm Jr.
The Miami Marlins won their salary arbitration case with outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. on Thursday, and he will now be paid $2.625 million in 2024 instead of the $2.9 million that he was seeking. Chisholm was in his first year of arbitration eligibility with the Fish. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter was an All-Star in 2022 despite playing in 60 games, and he played in only 97 games due to more injury issues in 2023. He had surgery in October for turf toe on his right foot, but he's expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season. There's a lot to like about Chisholm's skills as a power-speed option that can also play the infield, but injuries have depressed his fantasy value the last two seasons. Sticking in center field could also make it hard for Chisholm to stay healthy in the future. He takes an aggressive approach at the plate, which isn't great for his batting average, and he'll also be less attractive to fantasy managers this spring now that he's lost second base eligibility.

Tue Oct 10 202300:25Jazz Chisholm Jr. To Have Toe Surgery Tuesday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (toe) will undergo surgery to repair turf toe in his right foot on Tuesday, per MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. The procedure will prevent him from wearing a shoe and running for 12 weeks. The 25-year-old injured his toe on the cement block of the left-center-field wall at loanDepot Park in the middle of May. Chisholm Jr. had a successful offensive season when he was healthy, slashing .250/.304/.457 with 19 home runs, 51 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 383 plate appearances. However, this will be his second consecutive season missing significant time due to injury, so health will be a considerable concern heading into the 2024 season.

Fri Sep 15 202316:00Jazz Chisholm Jr. Back In Action Friday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (knee) is back in center field and hitting cleanup on Friday as the team takes on the visiting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Bryce Elder. Chisholm injured his right knee running the bases on Wednesday and was held out as a precaution on Thursday, but he's back in there to begin the weekend and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. The 25-year-old oft-injured star will look to finish out the 2023 season on a high note after hitting .273 (12-for-44) so far in 12 starts in September with two home runs, a double, six RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored for the Fish. Chisholm's power/speed abilities have produced 16 long balls and 19 stolen bases in his 303 at-bats this year.

Thu Sep 14 202312:13Jazz Chisholm Jr. Not In Thursday's Lineup
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (knee) is out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Dane Myers will draw the start in center field and bat in the eight-hole against Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser. Chisholm injured his right knee while grounding into a double play in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Milwaukee and should be considered day-to-day for now. Fantasy managers need to remove him from their starting lineups and check back on Friday to see if he's available for the start of a series against the division-rival Atlanta Braves. Chisholm has intriguing power and speed, but injuries have limited him in his four big-league seasons to this point and he has only played in over 100 games in a season once.

Thu Sep 14 202300:22Jazz Chisholm Jr. Dealing With Knee Discomfort
Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (knee) left Wednesday's game early against the Milwaukee Brewers with right-knee discomfort, according to the team. Garrett Hampson moved from shortstop to center field to replace Chisholm in the eventual 2-0 win. Before leaving prematurely, Chisholm was hitless in his two at-bats to drop his season average to .251 and his OPS to .745. The 25-year-old hurt himself while grounding into a double play in the fourth inning. Fantasy managers probably won't know more about the severity of the injury until Thursday, but given Chisholm's extensive injury history early in his career, it wouldn't be surprising to see him land on the injured list. And at this point in the season, that could mean Chisholm has played in his final game of 2023.

Wed Sep 13 202321:07Jazz Chisholm Jr. Removed From Game With Apparent Injury
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (leg) left Wednesday's game in the fourth inning with what seems to be a leg injury. Chisholm was attempting to beat out a double play. Chisholm was 0-for-2 before being removed and has been struggling over his last seven games. For the season he has a .251 average with 16 home runs and 19 stolen bases. Look for information to be relayed when the Marlins know more.

Fri Sep 1 202301:03Jazz Chisholm Jr. Mashes Three-Run Homer Thursday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer on Thursday, leading the Fish to a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Chisholm now has two homers in his last three games as he looks to break out of a cold streak that has lasted all of August. With just four homers, two swipes, and a .689 OPS in August coming into Thursday's game, Chisholm hasn't given fantasy managers much since his return from the injured list. Hopefully, he is starting to figure things out and can provide some value down the stretch.

Mon Aug 14 202315:31Jazz Chisholm Jr. Getting A Day Off Monday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the team's starting lineup on Monday with the team facing left-hander Framber Valdez and the visiting Houston Astros. With Chisholm getting a day off, Bryan De La Cruz will make the start in center field while batting leadoff against Valdez. The oft-injured Chisholm should be rostered in all fantasy leagues for his power/speed combination, but he's been a frustrating fantasy asset because of all the missed time he's had due to injuries early in his career. The 25-year-old is currently batting .246/.303/.448 with 11 home runs, 25 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 27 runs scored in 203 at-bats. Since returning from the injured list on July 31, Chisholm has gone 9-for-36 (.250) with two homers, two doubles, four RBI, a steal and seven runs scored in 11 games (nine starts).

Tue Aug 8 202315:00Jazz Chisholm Jr. Back In The Starting Lineup Tuesday
Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Luke Weaver. The 25-year-old didn't start Monday night's series opener with hamstring soreness but made his presence felt with a pinch-hit solo home run despite his club taking a 5-2 loss. An MRI on his balky hamstring revealed no structural damage, which is great news considering Chisholm has struggled with various injuries all season long. The former second baseman has come around after a sluggish start, now hitting .257 with 11 home runs and 15 stolen bases across just 51 games on the season as he remains a key dynasty league asset moving forward.

Mon Aug 7 202317:25No Structural Damage For Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Miami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. (hamstring) had an MRI exam on Monday morning that showed no structural damage to his right hamstring. He was able to do some running and will do baseball activities as tolerated, but he's not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Jon Berti will play second base and bat leadoff against Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson. The 25-year-old suffered a right-hamstring cramp on Saturday and has now missed the last two games, but hopefully he'll be able to avoid yet another injured-list stint. Fantasy managers should view him as day-to-day for now. Chisholm has plenty of power/speed upside, but he's been a frustrating fantasy asset because of all the missed time due to injuries early in his career.

Sat Aug 5 202321:31Jazz Chisholm Jr. Exits Early With Hamstring Cramp
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (hamstring) exited Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers with a right hamstring cramp. The 25-year-old went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a BB before leaving. A left oblique strain and a turf toe have limited Chisholm to 50 games in 2023. He is slashing .253/..312/.462 with 10 home runs, 24 RBI, 23 runs, and 15 stolen bases over 182 at-bats. Chisholm is considered day-to-day, with Sunday's series finale against the Rangers his next chance to return to the lineup. Jon Berti and Jesus Sanchez should see an uptick in at-bats if Chisholm were to miss any additional time.

Sat Aug 5 202318:22Jazz Chisholm Jr. Exits Early On Saturday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (hamstring) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. The 25-year-old slapped a single off right-hander Jon Gray in the third inning. He was later thrown out trying to steal second where he suffered the hamstring injury. Chisholm remained on the ground and was in obvious pain. The expectation is that the Marlins will have Chisholm undergo further testing. It wouldn't be shocking to see the oft-injured outfielder land on the injured list. Fantasy managers will have to wait and see what happens after the testing is done.

Mon Jul 31 202315:04Jazz Chisholm Jr. Activated And Starting Monday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday and is starting against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Taijuan Walker. Chisholm is starting in center field and is serving as Miami's cleanup hitter in his return. Fantasy managers will want to get the 25-year-old power/speed threat back in their starting lineups for the first time since he suffered an oblique strain early in July. Before his injury, Chisholm was riding a modest eight-game hitting streak. He's had trouble staying on the field early in his MLB career, but there remains plenty of upside and he should be rostered in all fantasy leagues.

Mon Jul 31 202312:00Marlins Expected To Activate Jazz Chisholm Jr. On Monday
The Miami Marlins are expecting to activate outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) on Monday to return for the start of a four-game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Fantasy managers will finally get Chisholm back for the first time since he suffered a left-oblique strain on July 3. The oft-injured 25-year-old will immediately return to being the team's starting center fielder after they sent Dane Myers to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. The Marlins could ease him back into a regular workload, but Chisholm should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Chisholm has hit just .246/.302/.443, but he does have nine home runs and 14 stolen bases in just 167 at-bats in 2023. His power/speed combination makes him a must-start when he's active.

Sat Jul 29 202313:34Jazz Chisholm Jr. Is Set To Begin A Rehab Assignment On Sunday
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter On Sunday. The dynamic 25-year-old has been on the shelf since early July with a left oblique strain and will likely require a handful of games before he's ready to rejoin the Marlins. Barring any setbacks, he should be good to go towards the middle of next week. Injuries have limited Chisholm Jr. to just 44 games so far this season.

Fri Jul 28 202319:55Jazz Chisholm Jr. Does Baseball Activities
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) completed a full on-field workout and did running and outfield drills on Friday, July 28. Chisholm exited the team's series finale against the Atlanta Braves on July 2 with a left-oblique strain after he struck out in the sixth inning and has been on the shelf ever since. The 25-year-old oft-injured outfielder is making progress and could embark on a minor-league rehab assignment in short order, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back until early August. Chisholm's power/speed combination makes him worth rostering in all fantasy formats despite his inability to stay healthy. He'll eventually return to a .246/.302/.443 slash line with nine home runs, 21 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 20 runs scored in only 167 at-bats.

Sat Jul 22 202310:12Jazz Chisholm Jr. Still Not Ready To Take Swings
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) is performing plyometric exercises - also known as jump training - as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. The 25-year-old has this hurdle to climb before advancing to a hitting progression, per skipper Skip Schumaker. Chisholm has been sidelined with the ailment since July 3, shortly after returning from nearly a month away with right turf toe. The injuries are starting to pile up for the dynamic Chisholm, who also missed the majority of 2022 with a right lower-back strain. Without a timetable for a return, fantasy managers will need to hang tight while the former All-Star is out.

Tue Jul 4 202317:24Jazz Chisholm Jr. Dealing With Mild Oblique Strain
Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s (oblique) MRI exam showed only a mild strain in his left oblique. It's good news after the Marlins put Chisholm on the 10-day injured list on Monday, but the 25-year-old outfielder continues to be set back by injuries early in his career. He had been back for only a week after returning from a stint on the injured list due to turf toe before injuring his oblique and being sidelined again. Chisholm has played in only 45 games in 2023 as a result. When healthy, he can be a dynamic player for fantasy managers, and he's currently hitting .246 (41-for-167) with nine home runs, four doubles, a triple, 21 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 20 runs scored in 183 plate appearances. Chisholm should remain stashed in all fantasy leagues.

Mon Jul 3 202315:03Jazz Chisholm Jr. Lands On Injured List
The Miami Marlins placed outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a left-oblique strain that he suffered in the loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. In a corresponding move, the team selected the contract of rookie utility player Dane Myers, whom they acquired in the minor-league phase of the Rule 5 draft in December. Pitcher Eli Villalobos was also designated for assignment. Chisholm previously spent a month and a half on the IL with turf toe, but he lasted just a week with Miami before going back on the shelf. The good news is the 25-year-old went 8-for-23 (.348) with two doubles, two homers, five RBI and four runs in six games last week, but now he'll be out indefinitely heading into the second half of the season.
