Johnson had five receptions on seven targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 42-17 loss to Arizona.
Matching up primarily against CB Patrick Peterson, Johnson was held in check for the second straight year (he caught just 5-of-12 targets for 59 yards versus the Cardinals in 2104). Of bigger concern for Johnson is his lack of downfield usage and production, as he's made just three catches of 20+ yards, and one of those receptions came from backup QB Dan Orlovsky (Matthew Stafford was benched Sunday for ineffectiveness). Furthermore, Megatron entered Sunday's game with a mediocre 5.7 YPT, which would easily be the worst mark of his prolific career. He'll look to make some big plays at home in Week 6 against Chicago, but he needs some help from Stafford.

Johnson caught seven passes (on 11 targets) for 56 yards and lost a fumble in Monday night's defeat to the Seahawks.
Johnson led the Lions in receiving once again Monday night, but a late fumble just before crossing the goal line proved costly to his potential production. Through four games, Johnson has scored only one touchdown and has connected with quarterback Matthew Stafford on just 27 of his whopping 45 targets. While that heavy involvement certainly bodes well for his long-term production, Johnson could stand to improve his efficiency in the Lions' passing game, even if a Week 5 matchup against the Cardinals' secondary may make that difficult.

Johnson caught eight passes for 77 yards on 13 targets in Sunday's 24-12 loss to the Broncos.
The Detroit offense has been abysmal through three weeks, and no player has cracked the 100-yard barrier in a single game. Johnson does have 30 targets over his last two games, but he's been nearly as inefficient as the rest of his team, and his Week 4 matchup (at Seattle) is brutal.

Johnson was on the field for all 78 of Detroit's offensive snaps in Week 2, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Week 2 was the first game during head coach Jim Caldwell's tenure that Johnson played every snap. Not surprisingly, Johnson saw his most targets (17) since the beginning of last season and just his second 10-catch game since Caldwell took over. Though Detroit has taken to resting its skill players during games, and Golden Tate and Eric Ebron have emerged as quality options, Sunday's snap count illustrates that Johnson is still the weapon of choice in Detroit.

Johnson reeled in 10 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
What a difference a week makes. After being targeted just four times in Week 1, Johnson saw 17 passes come his way on Sunday. The next step up will be to generate more production off of that level of exposure. Johnson is averaging just over 10 yards per reception thus far this season, more than four yards below his career low. He'll be counted on to stretch the defense and open things up underneath and in the running game for Detroit.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford said of Johnson: "You have a great player like that, you want to get him the ball as much as you can,"Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Johnson disappointed in Week 1 with just two receptions for 39 yards. His four targets trailed both Golden Tate and Eric Ebron who had eight and five passes come their way, respectively. It's dangerous to put too much weight into one game, but it warrants monitoring how the Lions' targets are divided up in the coming games. Throws speak louder than words.

Johnson caught two passes on four targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 33-28 loss to San Diego.
Despite lining up across from a pair of 5-foot-9 corners, Johnson saw fewer balls come his way than Golden Tate and Eric Ebron. Johnson's combination of size and sure hands should make him Matthew Stafford's top target through the season, but with the emergence of strong secondary options, the days of a toss-it-up-to-Megatron offense may be winding down in Detroit.

Johnson is not slated to play in Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars.
There's no injury in play here, rather the Lions are simply playing it safe with their star wideout, in order to avoid necessary injury risk. With Johnson sitting on Friday, Corey Fuller is slated to start in his place.

While some of the Lions' starters may play into the second half of Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars, it seems unlikely that Johnson will see the field in the contest.
The important thing to note at this stage of the preseason is that Johnson is healthy and the Lions would like things to stay that way. Thus, with nothing for Johnson to prove, and QB Matthew Stafford relaying that the Lions' star wideout has looked sharp this summer, there's a decent chance that Johnson may not see game action until Week 1, in order to avoid unnecessary injury risk.

Johnson is not expected to play in Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Kyle Meinke of MLive Media Group reports.
Johnson skipped Detroit's first two preseason contests and it won't be all that surprising if he doesn't ever play a down for the remainder of the preseason as he prepares for the 2014-15 campaign. His continued absence allows Corey Fuller to get reps with the first-team offense.

Johnson won't take the field for Thursday's preseason contest at Washington, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Sitting for the second time in as many exhibitions, Johnson will yield his starting spot to fellow wideout Corey Fuller. Johnson's absences shouldn't set off an alarm, though, as aims to avoid missing games for the third consecutive season.
Thu Aug 13 201522:46Johnson suited up
Johnson suited up, but did not play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Jets, Mlive.com reports.
The report notes that Johnson is healthy at this stage and the Lions wisely want to keep him that way following a 2014 campaign in which Megatron missed three games due to injury.

Johnson, who missed three games last season, indicated that he's in good health in advance of training camp, the Detroit News reports. "I feel good, man, I'm in a good place right now," Johnson noted. "I had a whole offseason to heal up."
Johnson endured a high ankle sprain last season, but he appears well past that issue now and is looking forward to a statistical rebound in his second season working in coordinator Joe Lombardi's offense. In 13 games last year, Johnson recorded 71 catches for 1,077 yard and eight TDs, subpar numbers for him, but assuming continued good health, it's more than reasonable to predict an uptick in production for the talented wideout, who turns 30 in September.
Wed Jan 7 201514:28Johnson (ankle) will skip NFL's upcoming Pro Bowl
Johnson (ankle) will skip the NFL's upcoming Pro Bowl, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Per the report, Johnson will give the game a miss in order to rest his balky right ankle. Though Johnson has been selected to five straight Pro Bowls, he hasn't played in one since 2011. This time around, he will be replaced on the NFC roster by Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants. Johnson -- who missed three games this season -- and was limited in three others, finished up the 2014 campaign with 71 catches for 1,077 yards and eight TDs. With the Lions having been eliminated from the playoffs this past weekend, the star wideout will now have ample time to recover from his aches and pains in advance of the 2015 season.

Johnson caught 5-of-8 targets for 85 yards in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Cowboys.
Johnson was somewhat overshadowed by Golden Tate, who caught 6-of-9 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. Both wideouts were heavily targeted this season, and while Johnson was typically a bit more productive when healthy, the gap wasn't especially large, and Tate came up huge when Johnson couldn't play. Johnson has missed just nine games through eight seasons, but five of those came in the last two years, and he always seems to have one nagging injury or another. He'll turn 30 next September, and he's still one of the most physically gifted receivers in the NFL. Johnson finished 2014 with a 71-1,077-8 receiving line in 13 games, despite being severely limited by an ankle injury in two of those appearances.
Fri Jan 2 201516:14Johnson (ankle
Johnson (ankle, probable) practiced fully again Friday, the Lions' official site reports.
Johnson was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, but after two straight full practices, his status for Sunday's 4:40 ET kickoff against the Cowboys appears secure.
Thu Jan 1 201516:04Johnson (ankle) returned to full practice Thursday
Johnson (ankle) returned to a full practice Thursday, the Lions' official site reports.
Johnson's full participation Thursday confirms that the Lions' star wideout -- who was listed as limited Wednesday -- will be good to go for Sunday's playoff contest against the Cowboys.
Wed Dec 31 201416:23Johnson (ankle) limited participant in practice Wednesday
Johnson (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, the Lions' official site reports.
We'll monitor Johnson's status in the coming days, but with no reported setbacks with his ankle issue in Week 17, we'd expect the wideout to be fine for Sunday's playoff opener against the Cowboys.

Johnson (ankle) caught 4-of-11 targets for 39 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-20 loss at Green Bay.
Johnson's inefficiency didn't appear to be related to his ankle injury, but rather a case of Matthew Stafford missing a lot of open throws. Even still, Johnson helped out fantasy owners with a couple of touchdowns, his seventh and eighth scores of the regular season. For those that play in postseason leagues, note that Johnson will face the Cowboys in Dallas this weekend.
Sun Dec 28 201415:08Johnson (ankle) active for Sunday's game against Packers
Johnson (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
The Packers' pass defense has been strong recently, but that is no reason to sit Johnson, who has really hit his stride over the last month now that he's closer to full health. Plus, Packers cornerback Davon House (shoulder) - who has performed well against Johnson in the past - is out.
