A career minor-league player, the 26-year-old Nunez spent 2014 in the Braves' farm system at Double-A Mississippi, where he slashed .301/.353/.373 over 96 games. The Dominican native will compete for a reserve infield spot in the Pirates' organization, but is unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster. | ||||||

The 25-year-old couldn't hack his way out of a rose garden this year, batting .194 with four RBIs in 61 games at Triple-A Toledo. Nunez's calling card, of course, is his glove, which some consider to be the best in Detroit's organization. Nunez spent the 2012 season on the disabled list with the Pirates, who plucked him in the Rule 5 draft. He was returned to Detroit last winter, but is now free to sign with any team. Don't be surprised if he surfaces on a big league bench next season as glove-first, -second and -third utility player. | ||||||
