Fri Apr 1916:46Jarred Kelenic Sitting Against Left-Hander
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic is on the bench on Friday with the team facing a left-hander. With Kelenic starting on the bench, Adam Duvall will make the start in left field for Atlanta and hit sixth in the batting order versus Texas Rangers left-hander Andrew Heaney. It's not out of the ordinary for Kelenic to get benched against a left-handed pitcher and he could use the break right now after going 2-for-13 with six strikeouts in his last four games played. The 24-year-old former Seattle Mariner has otherwise enjoyed his time so far in Atlanta, going 14-for-39 (.359) but with no home runs and only three RBI to show for it in his first 14 games. Duvall is hitless in his two career at-bats against Heaney.

Wed Apr 1014:34Jarred Kelenic Hits The Bench Wednesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic will start Wednesday's game against southpaw Jose Quintana and the visiting New York Mets on the bench. The move to the bench against a left-hander comes as no surprise as the Braves added the righty-swinging Adam Duvall just before Opening Day to platoon with Kelenic in left field after he was originally scheduled to handle primary left-field duties with the Braves this season. Acquired in a trade with the Mariners this winter, the 24-year-old is off to a hot start, hitting .462 (9-for-26) but he is also without a home run or a stolen base and has struck out in 31% of his plate appearance, a trend that's continued from last season. Additionally, he sports a massive .706 BABIP that will crater sharply moving forward.

Fri Apr 516:22Jarred Kelenic Sitting Against Lefty
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic will head to the bench on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks with the team facing a left-handed pitcher. With Kelenic starting on the pine, Adam Duvall will make the start in left field for the Braves and will hit sixth against Diamondbacks left-hander Tommy Henry. It's not going to be uncommon for Kelenic to sit against left-handed hurlers, at least early on in 2024. The 35-year-old Duvall has three hits and three RBI in his first 10 at-bats of the 2024 season in three games and will be a sneaky DFS play against a soft-tossing left-hander on Friday. Duvall is a career .233 hitter with 45 home runs and 127 RBI in 897 plate appearances against southpaw. He's never faced Henry in his career.

Wed Mar 2709:27Jarred Kelenic Finishes Spring With First Homer
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 1-for-1 with his first homer of the spring on Tuesday to finish up his rough Grapefruit League. Acquired from the Seattle Mariners this offseason, the former top prospect was expected to be an everyday outfielder with his new club, but has struggled mightily this spring. Aside from his homer on Tuesday, Kelenic was a rough 8-for-56 with four RBI this spring. His struggles even led to the Braves bringing back outfielder Adam Duvall, who will likely take playing time away from the 24-year-old. Kelenic has always had huge potential, but he other than the first half of 2023, he has not shown much. His potential makes him a strong watch-list candidate in the deepest of leagues, but he does not warrant being drafted in most formats.

Wed Mar 2700:46Jarred Kelenic Crushes Solo Home Run Tuesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic ended his spring training on a positive note in Tuesday's 9-6 Grapefruit League loss to the Twins. Kelenic only had one at-bat, hitting a 452-foot solo home run off Louie Varland in the third inning. It was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary spring for the 24-year-old, as he batted just .143 in 56 spring at-bats and did not have a HR until Tuesday. However, the former first-round pick has been working with hitting coach Kevin Seitzer in an attempt to unlock his potential. Kelenic did show some positive signs in 2023, but it remains to be seen if he can provide fantasy impact with his new team.

Thu Mar 1414:09Jarred Kelenic To Platoon In Left Field In 2024
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic has been told he will be in a platoon in left field alongside the newly-signed Adam Duvall this upcoming season. Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos said earlier in the offseason he was leaning toward playing Kelenic every day in left after acquiring him in a trade from the Seattle Mariners. Perhaps a tough spring from Kelenic has led to the Duvall signing, as Kelenic is just 3-for-34 (.088) with no homers, one stolen base, and a .272 OPS across 12 games and 38 trips to the plate in Grapefruit League action. The 24-year-old former top prospect hit .253 with 11 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a .746 OPS across 105 games with the Mariners in 2023, including a .259 average and a .774 OPS off of left-handed pitching. His fantasy value certainly takes a hit with the reduced playing time, but he still boasts a solid combination of power and speed that could take another step forward in the 2024 campaign.

Mon Mar 408:36Jarred Kelenic Struggling With New Team
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 0-for-1 with a pair of walks in Sundays Grapefruit League contest versus the rival Philadelphia Phillies. The former top prospect was acquired from the Seattle Mariners earlier in the offseason and is coming off of his best year as a pro with a .253 batting average to go along with 11 homers, 49 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 105 games. The Braves are expected to use Kelenic as an everyday outfielder and their should be less pressure on the 24-year-old with many star teammates in a powerful Braves lineup. Kelenic is worth continuing to roster in dynasty leagues and makes for an intriguing upside play in redraft formats.

Thu Feb 1516:39Braves Leaning Toward Playing Jarred Kelenic Every Day
Atlanta Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said the team is leaning toward playing outfielder Jarred Kelenic every day rather than having him start in a platoon in 2024 in his first year with the club. The Braves think he'll benefit more from everyday at-bats, even if he struggles early like Michael Harris II did. Atlanta doesn't really have an obvious platoon partner for the 24-year-old to begin with anyway. The former first-rounder in 2018 was a big disappointment in his first two big-league seasons with the Seattle Mariners before hitting .253 (94-for-372) with 11 home runs, 49 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 105 games in 2023 before fracturing his left foot when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout out of frustration. He has struck out a third of the time in the big leagues, but if he can bring the gains he made last year into 2024 with his new team, he'll have plenty of fantasy appeal.

Mon Dec 4 202311:35Braves Acquire Jarred Kelenic, Marco Gonzales, Evan White
The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Jarred Kelenic, left-hander Marco Gonzales and first baseman Evan White from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday night in exchange for pitchers Jackson Kowar and Cole Phillips. Kelenic, a former top prospect, struggled in his three seasons with Seattle. However, he was having his best year in 2023 before fracturing his toe when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout in frustration. The 24-year-old will have some sleeper appeal with the move to Atlanta, and he should start regularly in left field against right-handed pitching. Gonzales, 31, struggled to an ERA over 5.00 in 2023 and made only 10 starts due to surgery on his left forearm. White, 27, who hasn't played in the big leagues the last two years, was mainly a salary dump for the M's. He has season-ending hip surgery in May.

Mon Sep 25 202315:30Jarred Kelenic Busy On Sunday
Despite recording just one hit in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the division-rival Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic was busy in the box score. He finished the day going 1-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, a stolen base and a walk. Kelenic missed a good portion of the second half of the season after fracturing his foot after he kicked a water cooler in the dugout in frustration. Since returning from the injured list on Sept. 11, he's gone 8-for-28 (.286) with a double, four RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in nine games (eight starts) for the M's. Seattle is in a furious battle for the final wild-card spot in the American League in the final week of the regular season and are currently half a game back of the division-rival Houston Astros.

Mon Sep 18 202318:54Jarred Kelenic Taking A Seat Monday Versus Lefty
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is not in the starting lineup Monday night against the Oakland A's and left-hander JP Sears. The youngster went 0-for-2 before being replaced by a pinch-hitter in Sunday's series finale and will predictably sit against same-handed pitching on Monday in Oakland. Kelenic recently returned from a broken foot sustained when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout and has three hits, all singles, and a walk across 16 plate appearances since getting back into the fold. For the season, the 24-year-old has hit .249 with 11 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and a .745 OPS across 378 plate appearances. His power and speed should make him an attractive fantasy target next spring.

Fri Sep 15 202318:17Jarred Kelenic Back On Friday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 24-year-old sat out of Wednesday's contest after fouling a ball off his foot. Luckily, Kelenic avoided serious injury and is ready to play again after an off day on Thursday. He'll cover left field and bat sixth versus right-hander Bobby Miller on Friday. Fantasy managers who have Kelenic rostered should make sure to get him back in there for this game.

Wed Sep 13 202316:05Jarred Kelenic Out With Sore Foot
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels with a sore right foot. It's not the same foot that Kelenic fractured in July while kicking a water cooler, and it's sore after he fouled a ball off of it on Monday. X-rays came back negative. Kelenic is available if the team needs him on Wednesday, but they wanted to give him the day off with another scheduled off day coming on Thursday before the start of a series on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter should be back in action this weekend against LA. With Kelenic out on Wednesday, rookie Dominic Canzone is in left field and batting seventh against Angels right-hander Andrew Wantz.

Mon Sep 11 202313:59Jarred Kelenic Returns From Injured List
The Seattle Mariners reinstated outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and optioned rookie outfielder Cade Marlowe to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Kelenic will make his return to Seattle after fracturing his left foot while kicking a water cooler in frustration in the middle of July. The 24-year-old post-hype prospect was seeing the ball well during his minor-league rehab assignment with Tacoma, going 11-for-36 with a home run and a stolen base in 10 games. Kelenic should be an everyday starter for the M's in a corner-outfield spot for the rest of the year, making him worth a pickup in mixed leagues if he's still available on the waiver wire. He's returning to a .252/.320/.439 slash line with 11 homers, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in his 326 at-bats this year.

Thu Sep 7 202312:27Jarred Kelenic's Activation Is Imminent
Seattle Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said that outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) is close to being activated from the injured list. "I don't suspect it is going to be too much longer. Could be any day now. It's also we're 3,000 miles away and I'm not sure it is the appropriate thing to do, send him cross country. Minimally, I think you will see him next week," Dipoto said. "He appears to be raking." The 24-year-old will most likely be back with the Mariners when they return to Seattle on Monday. In six minor-league rehab games for Triple-A Tacoma, he's gone 9-for-21 with a home run and a stolen base while playing full games in the outfield the last two nights. Kelenic should return to an everyday role in Seattle's outfield to close out the year.

Thu Sep 7 202302:07Jarred Kelenic Looks Ready To Return
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) went 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and two strikeouts in a minor-league rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday night while also playing a full game in right field for the second straight day. The 24-year-old has gone 4-for-9 in the last two games with Tacoma with three doubles, a home run, a walk and four runs scored. He's now played in six rehab games and appears to be ready to return to the big leagues for the first time since breaking his foot on July 19. It would be a surprise if Kelenic isn't back with Seattle by this weekend against the Tampa Bay Rays, and he should return to everyday duties in the outfield to close out the year. The post-hype prospect will be returning to a .252/.320/.439 slash line with 11 homers, 45 RBI, 12 steals and 43 runs in 326 at-bats.

Wed Sep 6 202308:42Jarred Kelenic Could Return This Week
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) has been on a rehab assignment since last week, playing right field a couple of times for Triple-A Tacoma. So far, there's been no setback, and there's a chance the former top prospect could return to the big leagues later this week. Kelenic has been on the shelf since mid-July after he fractured his foot. Before going down, the 24-year-old slashed .252/.320/.439 with 11 homers, 43 runs, 45 RBI, and 12 steals over 90 games, the best production of his career. Even if he's not back this week, fantasy managers can expect Kelenic to return soon, and he'll slot right back into the Mariners starting lineup.

Fri Sep 1 202312:44Jarred Kelenic Reaches Twice In Rehab Game
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and two strikeouts in his first minor-league rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday. The 24-year-old is making his way back from a fractured foot that he suffered when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout in frustration on July 19. The Mariners aren't going to rush him back, but barring any setbacks, Kelenic should return to a regular role in Seattle's outfield sooner than later. He disappointed in his first two MLB seasons, but Kelenic was turning things around this year before going on the injured list. In 90 games (362 plate appearances) in 2023, he's hit .252 (82-for-326) with 11 home runs, 24 doubles, two triples, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored.

Thu Aug 31 202312:11Jarred Kelenic Starting Rehab Assignment
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) was sent to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday to start a minor-league rehab assignment. Kelenic is trying to return after fracturing his left foot while kicking a water cooler in the dugout in frustration around six weeks ago. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter could be back with the M's by next week as long as he doesn't suffer a setback with his foot while playing in minor-league games. The post-hype prospect was having his best major-league season before breaking his foot, slashing .252/.320/.439 with 11 home runs, 24 doubles, two triples, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in 90 games played. Fantasy managers will want to scoop him up off the waiver wire if he was dropped following his injury.

Fri Aug 25 202319:41Jarred Kelenic To Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (foot) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma next week. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment, Kelenic should be able to return to the Mariners early in September. The 24-year-old ditched his walking boot last week and has been building up his baseball activities ever since. He initially fractured his left foot while kicking a water cooler in the dugout in mid-July. Before the injury, Kelenic was having the best season of his big-league career with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 43 runs scored while hitting .252 (82-for-326) in 90 games played. He should return to a regular role in Seattle's outfield for the stretch run when he's healthy, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues might want to scoop him up soon if he's available on the waiver wire.
