Wed Jun 23 201016:37Report: Red Sox showing interest in Everett
Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports that the Red Sox have shown interest in recently-released shortstop Adam Everett.
Everett was dumped by the Tigers last week after opening the season with a poor .185/.221/.247 batting line in his first 81 at-bats. He's not exactly an intimidating hitter, but the Red Sox are working with Bill Hall as their backup shortstop and second baseman, and would like to improve defensively.

Sun Jun 6 201021:58Tigers part ways with SS Everett
Tigers designated SS Adam Everett for assignment.
Everett is still very good defensively, but his offense was a millstone that couldn't come near making the tradeoff a wash. He posted a .468 OPS through 89 plate appearances as the blackest of black holes. Everett might have to log some time in the minors before getting another opportunity on a major league roster.
Sun Jun 6 201017:32Everett to be DFA'd on Tuesday, Worth coming
Adam Everett will be designated for assignment on Tuesday, with Danny Worth being recalled to take over as Detroit's shortstop, according to manager Jim Leyland.
"We just didn't see anything happening (offensively) with Adam," said Leyland. Everett has never been mistaken for Hanley Ramirez, so this couldn't have come as much of a surprise to the organization. His .468 OPS through 89 plate appearances was particularly appalling, however, so he makes room for Worth. The 24-year-old batted .333/.333/.333 over 25 plate appearances earlier this year, playing exclusively at second base. The former second round pick will only be an option in deeper AL-only leagues.
