Sat Mar 910:30Luis Arraez Collects Three Hits Friday
After a slow start to the spring season, Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez got going on Friday in a 3-1 Grapefruit League loss to the New York Mets. The 2x batting champ went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. It was a welcome sight after the 26-year-old went 1-for-16 (.063) to begin the spring, but just like that, he's 4-for-19 (.211). The 2x All-Star's value is in his ability to collect loads of hits, as he doesn't hit for much power and doesn't pile up the counting stats despite how often he gets on base. Look for him to pile up the hits again in 2024 as he's one of the best, if not the best, in all of baseball at making contact. He's a much better points league option than roto, however.

Wed Feb 2100:46No Extension Talks Yet For Marlins, Luis Arraez
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez said Tuesday that while he "100 percent yes" would be interested in a contract extension, the team has not started any related conversations. The 26-year-old and the Marlins just completed his arbitration case, in which he will earn the $10.6 million the Marlins filed for in 2024, rather than the $12 million he had filed for. Arraez slashed .354/.393/.469 with 10 home runs and 69 RBI in 2023, earning his second batting title. President of baseball operations Peter Bendix said, "I love that he wants to stay here... That's something that we're going to keep internal." While his lack of high-level contribution in other categories limits his overall fantasy value, Arraez's elite batting average skills are undeniable.

Wed Feb 1414:13Luis Arraez Loses Arbitration Case
Miami Marlins infielder Luis Arraez has lost his arbitration case with the club. The 26-year-old will earn the $10.6 million the Marlins filed for rather than the $12 million he had filed for prior to his hearing. He is coming off the second battle title of his MLB career as Arraez hit a hefty .354 with the Marlins in the 2023 season alongside a career-high 10 home runs and an .862 OPS across 617 trips to the plate. Perhaps his most impressive feat is the fact he struck out in just 5.5% of his plate appearances, even if he walked in just 5.7% of them. Despite some trade rumors following the lefty-swinging infielder this offseason, Arraez is expected to split his time between second base and first base with the Marlins in 2024.

Fri Nov 10 202319:35Luis Arraez "Available" If Marlins Want To Talk Extension
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez said the team has not reached out to him about an extension yet, but he would be open to talking if they do. The batting champ made $6.1 million in 2023, his second year of arbitration. That figure could double in 2024. Arraez is under control through the 2025 season, so talks may not be right around the corner. The 26-year-old broke into the majors at the age of 22, so he will be an unrestricted free agent at 28, which should set him up for a nice payday. As for fantasy, there aren't many, if any, players out there you'd rather have to help your average. Arraez, however, doesn't offer much else.

Tue Oct 3 202317:33Luis Arraez Returns For Game 1 Of Wild-Card Series
Miami Marlins All-Star second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) is back in the team's starting lineup for Game 1 of the wild-card series on Tuesday against right-hander Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies, starting at second base and batting leadoff. Arraez miss all but one game in the final two weeks of the regular season due to a sprained ankle, but he's back in there now to kick off the postseason. However, it remains to be seen how effective the 26-year-old two-time batting champion will be for the Fish at less than 100 percent health. In nine career at-bats against Wheeler, Arraez has two hits (one double) and a strikeout. He has very little pop (10 homers on the year), but he's an excellent table-setter with a career-high 203 hits and a .393 on-base percentage in 147 games in 2023.

Mon Oct 2 202313:29Luis Arraez Expected To Return In Game 1?
Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said it would take a lot for second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) not to be in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the wild-card series on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Arraez, who led all of baseball this year with a .354 average (203-for-574), hasn't started a game since Sept. 23 when he sprained his left ankle, but he did come in as a pinch-hitter last Friday. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter should be back for the postseason, but how effective he'll be on a bum ankle remains to be seen. Arraez has led the league in batting the last two years and also has added a career-high 10 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 69 RBI, three stolen bases and 71 runs scored in 147 games in his first year in Miami.

Sat Sep 30 202318:26Luis Arraez Remains Out On Saturday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This marks the sixth game in a row that Arraez has missed due to a lingering ankle issue. He was able to come off the bench on Friday, so the expectation is that he could do it again on Saturday. Possibly, Arraez returns to the lineup on Sunday or the Marlins might wait until the postseason, assuming the Marlins make it. In his absence, Jon Berti will cover second base and bat seventh versus right-hander Quinn Priester on Saturday evening.

Fri Sep 29 202316:22Luis Arraez Remains Out Friday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to a left-ankle sprain that he aggravated over the weekend. Arraez suffered an ankle injury at the worst possible time down the stretch with the Marlins trying to secure the final wild-card spot in the National League, and this will be his fourth straight missed game. Jon Berti will man the keystone on Friday and will hit sixth in the batting order. The Marlins and fantasy managers can only hope that Arraez will be able to return on Saturday. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter still leads the league with a .353 batting average (202-for-573) in 146 games in 2023, adding a career-high 10 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 69 RBI, three steals and 71 runs scored.

Thu Sep 28 202318:43Luis Arraez Still Out Of Lineup With Sprained Ankle
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) remains out of Thursday's lineup for the series finale against the New York Mets with his sprained left ankle. It's rough timing for the 26-year-old to become hobbled with Miami pursuing the National League Wild Card's final spot, as Arraez has only played in two of the prior seven contests. The 2022 American League batting champion's pursuit for a .400 average may have fizzled long ago, but he's still on pace for his second straight hitting title at an MLB-best .353 BA to go with a career-high .860 OPS, 10 home runs, and 69 RBI. Xavier Edwards is handling the void at the keystone in Arraez's stead on Thursday, batting ninth versus left-hander David Peterson.

Wed Sep 27 202314:13Luis Arraez Remains Out For Game 1 Of Twin Bill Wednesday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Wednesday's straight doubleheader with the New York Mets and left-hander Joey Lucchesi. The 26-year-old injured his ankle when he slipped on some dugout steps during Saturday's game against the Brewers and has not appeared since. In line for an NL Batting Title in his first season in the senior circuit, Arraez is hitting .353 with 10 home runs, three stolen bases, and an .860 OPS across 616 plate appearances on the season. The injury comes at the worst of times for the Fish as they are currently just a half-game back of the Chicago Cubs for the final Wild Card spot in the National League with five games to go.

Sat Sep 23 202321:19Luis Arraez Suffers Injury On Saturday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (leg) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. It appears that Arraez slipped on the dugout steps after the light went out during Tanner Scott's entrance in the top of the ninth. Garrett Hampson took over at second base for the final frame. This is tough news after Arraez just returned on Friday after a two-game absence. The Marlins cannot afford to lose Arraez now in the middle of the Wild-Card hunt. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday for another update on his status.

Fri Sep 22 202318:20Luis Arraez Back In The Lineup On Friday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) has returned to the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 26-year-old was forced to exit early during Tuesday's game due to a left ankle sprain. Arraez received a few days off and is now ready to return to the lineup. He'll bat leadoff and cover second base versus right-hander Corbin Burnes on Friday. Fantasy managers who have Arraez rostered should get him back in there for this game.

Wed Sep 20 202316:19Luis Arraez Out Again For Marlins
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday against the visiting New York Mets. Jon Berti will take over at the keystone and will bat eighth in the order against Mets right-hander Kodai Senga. Arraez suffered a sprained left ankle during pre-game workouts on Tuesday and will now miss his second straight game. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 26-year-old hit machine day-to-day. With an off day coming on Thursday, both the Marlins and fantasy managers will be hoping MLB's batting leader can return on Friday for the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Although Arraez has very little power to speak of, he's the best pure hitter average-wise in baseball and is a must-start when he's active.

Tue Sep 19 202319:10Luis Arraez Day-To-Day With Ankle Sprain
The Miami Marlins scratched second baseman Luis Arraez (ankle) from their starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets due to a left-ankle sprain and are calling him day-to-day. Arraez suffered the sprained ankle while working out before the game and could need multiple days off as the Fish push for the final wild-card spot in the National League. With Arraez injured, Xavier Edwards entered the starting lineup at the keystone and will hit ninth against Mets left-hander Joey Lucchesi. The Marlins can ill-afford to lose Arraez for any stretch of games at this critical juncture. He entered the day leading the league with a .354 average (201-for-567) with a career-high 10 homers, 30 doubles, three triples, 69 RBI, three stolen bases and 70 runs scored in 144 games in his first year in Miami.

Tue Aug 22 202318:45Luis Arraez Returns To The Lineup
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (illness) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. He was pulled out of Monday's game due to a stomach cramp. It appears to be only a minor issue as Arraez is back in the lineup on Tuesday. He'll bat second and cover second base versus left-hander Blake Snell on Tuesday evening. Arraez is slashing .358/.401/.460 with five home runs and 58 RBI in 115 games this season.

Tue Aug 22 202301:37Luis Arraez Leaves Early With Stomach Cramp
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez (stomach) left Monday night's 6-2 loss to the Miami Marlins early due to a stomach cramp, according to the team. Before departing, Arraez went 1-for-2 at the plate before being replaced at the keystone by Jon Berti. Losing Major League Baseball's leading hitter for any stretch of time would be devastating for the Marlins as they look to secure a postseason berth down the stretch, but this will most likely be a day-to-day thing. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Tuesday to see if he's back in the starting lineup. The 26-year-old came into Monday's action leading all of baseball with a .357 batting average and a league-leading 166 hits in 505 plate appearances in his first year in Miami. Arraez has also added a career-high 58 RBI and 52 runs scored.

Sun Aug 13 202320:16Luis Arraez Posts Three Hits Sunday
Miami Marlins All-Star second baseman Luis Arraez was 3-for-5 with three RBI in an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday. Before going into the ninth frame, Miami was down four runs. Eventually, Arraez smashed a two-run game-tying triple. Jake Burger would then end the game with a walk-off single. For Arraez, the triple was the only extra-base hit for the infielder in the contest. However, the 26-year-old did register three RBI. The Marlin's leadoff batter until Sunday's game had hit a rough patch offensively, as he has six hits in his last 26 at-bats.

Mon Aug 7 202317:31Luis Arraez Resting In Series Opener
Miami Marlins All-Star second baseman Luis Arraez is not in the team's starting lineup for the series opener on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. With Arraez starting on the bench, Jon Berti is at the keystone and is batting leadoff against Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson. This will be Arraez's first game off since the All-Star break. The 26-year-old hitting machine continues to lead all of baseball with a .375 batting average and 157 hits in 458 plate appearances in his first year in Miami. He's also added a fantastic .420 on-base percentage, .888 OPS, three home runs, 26 doubles, two triples, 52 RBI and 46 runs scored in 107 total games. Arraez should be back on Tuesday and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups then.

Wed Jul 12 202309:12Luis Arraez Notches Two Hits In All-Star Game
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez saw two at-bats during Tuesday's All-Star game and recorded a pair of singles while driving in one run. That's nothing new for the 26-year-old, who's sporting a league-leading .383 batting average. Arraez doesn't do much else in terms of fantasy value, as he's gone deep just three times and has one stolen base, 40 runs, and 42 RBI over 86 games. However, his batting average makes him a solid producer in any format, and fantasy managers can expect that continue considering his career .327 mark.

Sat Jul 8 202313:55Luis Arraez Getting A Breather On Saturday
Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arraez is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 26-year-old hitting machine is getting a breather on Saturday so Bryan De La Cruz is batting leadoff while Garrett Hampson is drawing the start at second base and batting ninth against Phillies' starter Ranger Suarez. Arraez should get a final tune up game on Sunday ahead of his first All-Star game appearance next week. He's slashing an absurd .386/.437/.475 with three home runs, 41 RBI, and one stolen base over 324 at-bats.
