Sat Jul 30 201113:35Francisco Martinez acquired by Mariners
Mariners acquired 3B Francisco Martinez from the Tigers in the Doug Fister deal.
Martinez, 20, was ranked by Baseball America coming into the season as the Tigers' fourth-best prospect, but he was blocked by Nick Castellanos and thus was viewed by Detroit as expendable. He hasn't been terribly productive in the minors to this point and sports a .279/.316/.402 batting line with seven homers this season for Double-A Erie. He's young for the Eastern League, though, and profiles as a solid regular if he can reach his potential.
