Sat Mar 1610:06Abraham Toro Playing His Way Onto Roster
Oakland Athletics infielder Abraham Toro continued his strong spring on Thursday in a 3-1 Cactus League loss to the Cubs. The switch hitter went 1-for-2 in the game and is now 11-for-30 (.367) in the spring with a home run, seven RBI, four runs scored, and a 4:5 BB:K. Right now he's projected to make the roster, however, with the A's signing veteran third baseman J.D. Davis, Toro's playing time could be impacted. What Toro has going for him though is his positional flexibility, as he can play first base and second base as well. The 27-year-old isn't on the radar for standard roto or points leagues, but makes for an intriguing option in AL-only leagues.

Mon Feb 1222:48Jordan Diaz, Abraham Toro To Have Edge At Third Base
The Oakland Athletics don't have a true established option at third base entering spring training, which could lead to somewhat of a competition in camp. Jordan Diaz and newcomer Abraham Toro figure to have the edge entering spring training, with Toro's switch-hitting ability creating the possibility for a platoon situation. Another name to watch is prospect Brett Harris, who is considered close to major-league-ready after reaching Triple-A Las Vegas in 2023. Diaz, 23, wasn't anything special on offense or defense for the A's last year hitting .221 with 10 homers and 27 RBI in 90 games. Toro, 27, only played nine big-league games with the Brewers last year. Harris, 25, might have the most upside given his contact-oriented approach and solid plate discipline, but the A's third base picture will be one to avoid in mixed fantasy leagues.

Wed Nov 15 202321:41A's Acquire Abraham Toro From Brewers
The Oakland Athletics acquired third baseman Abraham Toro from the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for pitcher Chad Patrick. Toro, a 26-year-old Canadian switch-hitter, made just nine appearances in Milwaukee last season, going 8-for-18 (.444) with two home runs and nine RBI for the Brew Crew. He also hit a strong .291/.374/.471 in 414 plate appearances for Triple-A Nashville. Toro is a career .211/.282/.354 hitter in 271 major-league games with 28 home runs and 108 RBI for the Brewers, Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners. With the rebuilding A's, he'll have a legitimate shot to win playing time at the hot corner in spring training next year.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Abraham Toro was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday to make room for first baseman Rowdy Tellez (hand), who was activated from the 10-day injured list. He will likely make it back to the big league club later this season if another member of the active roster were to hit the injured list.

Fri Dec 2 202217:19Jesse Winker, Abraham Toro Heading To Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired outfielder Jesse Winker and third baseman Abraham Toro from the Seattle Mariners on Friday in exchange for second baseman Kolten Wong, according to sources. Winker will help replace Hunter Renfroe, who was shipped to the Los Angeles Angels recently. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger ended his season early in 2022 and needed knee and neck surgeries. He struggled after being a first-time All-Star in 2021 with the Cincinnati Reds, slashing .219/.344/.688 with 14 home runs, 53 RBI and 51 runs scored in 136 games for the M's. With better health and in a hitter-friendly environment, Winker could bounce back in his new digs. Toro also struggled offensively by hitting .185/.239/.324 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in a career-high 109 games in Seattle. He could be competing with youngster Brice Turang for a starting job in Milwaukee in 2023.

Sat Aug 6 202222:19Abraham Toro Optioned To Triple-A Tacoma
Seattle Mariners' third baseman Abraham Toro was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday. Mitch Haniger was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Toro struggled this season, slashing .180/.239/.322 with eight home runs, 26 RBI, 30 runs, and a stolen base over 285 plate appearances in 2022. The 25-year-old will try to turn things around in the minors and is expected to be one of the top call-ups if Seattle needs to call up a hitter from the minor leagues.

Sun May 22 202212:39Abraham Toro Goes On IL, Taylor Trammell Recalled
The Seattle Mariners placed infielder Abraham Toro (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday and recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Seattle also selected infielder Sam Haggerty's contract from Tacoma and designated outfielder Steven Souza Jr. for assignment. Toro suffered a sprained left shoulder on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, and it's unclear exactly when he'll be ready to return to the Mariners major league roster. The 25-year-old was hitting just .179/.237/.366, but he did have six home runs and 13 RBI in 38 games played. Trammell is starting in right field and batting ninth on Sunday against Red Sox right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. He'll have to prove himself to remain in the majors after hitting .160/.256/.359 with a 42.1% strikeout rate in 51 games in 2021.

Sat May 21 202218:44Abraham Toro Exits With Shoulder Injury On Saturday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Abraham Toro (shoulder) was removed from Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox due to a left shoulder sprain. Dylan Moore came in to replace him in the game and Adam Frazier shifted over from the outfield to cover Toro's second base post. Toro was 1-for-2 with a single prior to leaving the game. The 25-year-old entered Saturday's contest with an underwhelming .174/.233/.364 slash line on the year. We should get an update on the severity of his injury either late Saturday or early Sunday.

Mon Oct 4 202113:20Abraham Toro Steals Sixth Base Sunday
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro stole a base in the season finale Sunday, bringing his season total to six. He went 1-for-4 with a single in the 7-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Toro limped to the finish line this season, slashing .145/.217/.218 in his last 15 games with just one home run since Aug. 31. He appears set for a guaranteed spot in the Seattle lineup entering 2022, but he's no more than a late-round draft pick for fantasy.

Thu Sep 30 202111:17Abraham Toro Breaks Out With Homer
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro hit his first home run since August 31 on Wednesday, a solo shot which gave the Mariners an important insurance run against the Oakland Athletics in a 4-2 victory. It was Toro's only hit in four at-bats. Toro now has 11 home runs on the season, and has continued to be in the lineup every day despite a .181/.250/.266 slash line in September. He does have hits in six of his last eight games, so perhaps he can still provide some fantasy value in the final days of the season.

Tue Sep 21 202119:34Abraham Toro Getting A Breather On Tuesday
Seattle Mariners second baseman Abraham Toro is getting the day off on Tuesday as the team faces Paul Blackburn and the Oakland Athletics. Dylan Moore is getting the start at second base and batting ninth in the game. Toro has been a mainstay in the heart of the Mariners' lineup lately despite struggling immensely in September. Over 17 games this month, he's slashing .172/.250/.234 with four doubles and no home runs. He certainly made a splash after the Mariners acquired him in late July, tallying three home runs and three doubles over his first seven games with the team, but he slowed down soon after that. There's no need to roster him in any fantasy leagues at this point.

Thu Sep 9 202113:41Abraham Toro Drives In Two Wednesday
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI against his former team in an 8-5 victory over the Houston Astros. Toro has slashed .315/.391/.463 in 149 at-bats for Seattle, and he now has a five-game hitting streak going with four multi-hit performances in that span. Slotted into the fifth spot in the lineup, he's an excellent value going forward and should be started in all leagues.

Tue Sep 7 202113:13Abraham Toro Drives In Two Monday
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro drove in two runs Monday against his former team, the Houston Astros, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Toro has been outstanding in his 37 games in Seattle, slashing .314/.394/.457 in 140 at-bats. He's batting fifth in the lineup on an everyday basis, and he has the ability to be a major difference-maker in the fantasy baseball stretch run.

Wed Sep 1 202112:11Abraham Toro Delivers Dramatic Grand Slam
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro provided all four runs Tuesday's game had to offer on one swing, a grand slam off of Houston Astros relief pitcher Kendall Graveman in the eighth inning. That's the same Kendall Graveman Toro was traded for, and that trade went down on the same day Dylan Moore, whom Toro essentially replaced at second base for Seattle, hit another go-ahead grand slam off an Astros reliever. Got that? It was super dramatic, and changes very little for Toro's fantasy value, except to say that he's a solid deep-league versatile infield option with some pop batting fifth in a decent lineup.

Sat Aug 28 202111:44Abraham Toro Drives In Two
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro drove in two more runs Friday, going 2-for-5 with a walk against the Kansas City Royals in an 8-7 extra-inning loss. Toro has slashed .330/.408/.472 in 106 at-bats as a Mariner, and he's settled in nicely as the regular fifth hitter in the lineup. He's also in the midst of a nine-game hit streak, with three multi-hit outings in his last four. Toro is well worth an add for fantasy managers in need of a flexible infield option.

Tue Aug 24 202101:46Abraham Toro Adds Three Hits
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro added three hits in four at-bats against the Texas Rangers Monday. He came around to score once. Toro has stepped his game up to another level since he came over via trade from the Houston Astros, slashing .323/.406/.473 with three home runs in 93 at-bats as a Mariner, and he's in the midst of a six-game hit streak. He's playing every day, and with positional eligibility at second and third base, he's worth rostering in deeper leagues.

Wed Aug 4 202101:37Abraham Toro Homers For Third Time As A Mariner
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro went deep yet again Tuesday, giving him three home runs in his seven games in Seattle. Including his ninth homer of the year, Toro went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI against the Tampa Bay Rays. Though Mariners players were not pleased with the trade that brought Toro to the team, he's more than earning his keep so far, and looking like an excellent add for fantasy purposes. Toro has eligibility and second and third base, and will be batting fifth every day. He also adds stolen base upside, with four swiped bags on the season.

Sun Aug 1 202121:34Abraham Toro Doubles Twice Sunday
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro had yet another strong game Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored against the Texas Rangers. Toro has nine hits in 18 at-bats since coming over from the Houston Astros, five of which have gone for extra bases. He seems to be settling nicely into the fifth spot of the lineup, and he offers enough in both the power and steals departments to be worth a pickup in all but the shallowest of fantasy formats.

Fri Jul 30 202123:59Abraham Toro Has Three More Hits Friday
Seattle Mariners infielder Abraham Toro may not have been who Mariners fans wanted the team to acquire at the trade deadline, but he's made an immediate impact. While his four-game home run streak was ended Friday, Toro still went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. He now has a five-game hit streak, and figures to play every day for Seattle. With eight homers and four steals in just 119 at-bats this season, there's plenty to recommend him as a fantasy add.

Thu Jul 29 202102:14Late-scratch Judge hits tiebreaking single for Yanks in 10th
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Aaron Judge went from being a late scratch to hitting a tiebreaking single in a two-run 10th inning to help the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second straight day, 3-1 on Wednesday night. Judge was taken out of the lineup about 30 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. Although no announcement was made about why, the All-Star right fielder struck out in the fifth pinch-hitting for Estevan Florial. Judge returned to the team Tuesday after going on the COVID-19 injured list July 16. New York also had a big night off the field. The Yankees reached a deal to get All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers, a person familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move had not yet been announced and was subject to approval of medical records of the players involved. Greg Allen was hit by a pitch from Pete Fairbanks (3-4) leading off the 10th, putting runners on first and second. Judge... [More]
