Mon Mar 2516:02Nolan Jones Returns To Action Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones (knee) returned to the team's Cactus League lineup on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers, starting in left field and batting second in the order. Jones had an injury score in spring training on Saturday when he was removed from the contest after fouling a pitch off his right knee, but he was diagnosed with only a contusion and only needed one day off. Now that the 25-year-old slugger is back on the field, he should be good to go for Opening Day this Thursday. Jones has the potential to finish his second year in Colorado as a No. 1 outfielder for fantasy managers after he slashed .297/.389/.542 with a .931 OPS, 20 home runs, 62 RBI and 20 stolen bases in just 106 games in 2023. He'll be the club's everyday left fielder and resides in one of the best hitting environments in baseball.

Sun Mar 2415:48Nolan Jones Avoids Serious Injury, Should Still Play Opening Day
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones fouled a ball off of his kneecap in Saturday's 6-2 Cactus League loss to the Reds. The 25-year-old said he felt numbness in his foot afterward, but today it is just a bruise. He believes he'll be ready for Opening Day and could even play in the final spring games. It's fantastic news for the lefty as he had become a high fantasy draft pick with his power-speed combo, although somewhat concerningly, he has zero home runs and zero stolen bases in 52 spring plate appearances. For anyone still drafting, RotoBaller ranks him at 49 overall, slightly ahead of his NFBC ADP of 54.

Sat Mar 2318:33Nolan Jones Leaves Game On Saturday
Colorado Rockies Right Fielder Nolan Jones (knee) left Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds after fouling a ball off his right knee. The Rockies have announced that he has a right knee contusion. No timetable has been set for his return, but this certainly puts his Opening Day status in jeopardy. Jones is expected to be a big part of the Rockies lineup this season after coming on strong in the 2023 season. His spring training has been below par for the 25-year-old, hitting for a .255/.327/.731 slash line without any HR. ATC projects Jones to hit for a .269/.360/.481 slash line with 24 HR and 78 RBI. With an ADP of 71.3, fantasy managers still expect Jones to be a productive contributor to lineups but will need to keep an eye on his status for early season matchups. Jones is considered day-to-day.

Wed Mar 618:27Nolan Jones Dealing With Back Tightness, Expects To Play Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones (back) was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League game early against the Texas Rangers as a precaution due to lower-back tightness, but Jones said he's fine and expects to be back in the lineup on Thursday versus the Kansas City Royals. The 25-year-old should be considered a high-end No. 2 fantasy outfielder in the best hitting environment in baseball in Coors Field. The left-handed hitter was a second-round pick by the Cleveland Guardians in 2016 and showed off his impressive power/speed combination in 106 games for the Rockies last year by slashing .297/.389/.542 with a .931 OPS, 20 homers 62 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 424 plate appearances. Jones was just as good away from Coors Field, too which makes him even more exciting.

Tue Feb 2715:31Nolan Jones Gets Off To A Slow Spring Start
Through three Cactus League appearances, Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones has gone 0-for-7 with three strikeouts. No need to panic, but managers who have invested in his services will be hoping he shakes off the rust sooner rather than later. After a breakout campaign in 2023 where he finished with a .297-20-62-60-20 line in just 106 games (424 PA), his fantasy stock has gotten expensive with an NFBC ADP of 55th overall. The former second-round pick has the talent and the stats to back up the breakout, such as his better-than-league-average chase rate (28.7%), BB% (12.5%), and 94th percentile Barrel% (15.7%). However, some are cause for caution, including K% (29.7%), Contact% (70.7%), and an unsustainable BABIP of .401. The 25-year-old will look to get back on track next time out.

Tue Aug 1 202319:09Nolan Jones Returns For Rockies
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against San Diego Padres right-hander Pedro Avila after leaving Monday's game early with mild cramping. Jones is starting in right field and is hitting sixth in the batting order. In his first full big-league season, the 25-year-old left-handed hitter is batting an impressive .273/.351/.485 with an .836 OPS, nine home runs, eight doubles, 22 RBI, seven stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 185 plate appearances and 50 games played. Jones will have a nice matchup against Avila at hitter-friendly Coors Field on Tuesday, although he hit just .193 (11-for-57) with four home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 18 games in the month of July.

Sun Jul 30 202319:53Nolan Jones Pulled Out Early On Sunday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones was pulled out early during Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics. There was some concern that the 25-year-old suffered an injury, but that might not have been the case. It sounds like his exit was precautionary due to cramping. The expectation is he'll be fine going forward, so fantasy managers shouldn't be alarmed. Hell likely be back in the lineup for their next game.

Sun Jul 2 202323:00Nolan Jones Misses Weekend Games For Brother's Wedding
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones was at his brother's wedding as the best man this weekend and therefore missed the team's last two games against the Detroit Tigers. With Jones sitting two straight immediately after the returns of Kris Bryant and C.J. Cron, speculation opened up about him possibly losing playing time to the veterans of the team. Fortunately, there is a different reason for him not playing either game this weekend. He may still lose some at-bats, but Jones has put up a .315/.398/.528 slash line this season and even an organization like Colorado should be able to see that he deserves playing time.

Tue Jun 27 202319:27Nolan Jones Out Against Lefty Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones will take a seat on Tuesday with the team facing left-hander Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jones is hitting an incredible .349 against right-handers this year and just .250 (8-for-32) with one of his five home runs against southpaws, so fantasy managers need to put him on their bench for Tuesday's slate of games. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has been great for the Rockies and fantasy managers in his last 12 games, going 13-for-44 (.296) with a homer, four doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and six runs scored in 51 trips to the plate. Keep riding him in fantasy against righties. With Jones on the bench to start on Tuesday, Randal Grichuk is in right field and is hitting sixth against Kershaw.

Tue Jun 20 202323:24Nolan Jones Goes Off For Full Line On Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder/first baseman Nolan Jones had a monster night at the dish on Tuesday, going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBI, two runs scored, a stolen base, and a walk. It wasn't enough for a win, though, in an 8-6 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The 25-year-old got the party started with a towering blast into deep right field. Jones proceeded to nab a single and a few doubles to complete an outstanding performance. The left-handed hitter is slashing a superb .354/.436/.634 with five taters, 14 RBI, and five pilfers over 82 at-bats since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 26. The Rockies could get healthier soon, but Jones is flashing enough power and speed potential to be rostered across all fantasy formats if he was dropped during a recent quiet stretch.

Wed Jun 14 202317:33Nolan Jones Batting Leadoff For Rockies
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff for the team on Wednesday against Boston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock. Jones has earned a move up Colorado's batting order by hitting .375 (15-for-40) with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, four stolen bases and six runs scored in 45 trips to the plate in 11 games so far in the month of June. The recent hot streak has boosted is overall line to .345/.406/.638 with a 1.044 OPS, four homers, 12 RBI, four steals and eight runs scored in 17 games in 2023. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues and DFS formats will want to stick with the left-handed hitting 25-year-old while he remains hot.

Mon Jun 12 202309:32Nolan Jones Blasts Walkoff Home Run
Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Jones came up clutch for the team during Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. The Rockies entered the ninth inning trailing 4-3, but that was erased on a Ryan McMahon solo shot. Then, there was a lengthy rain delay before the game picked up again. Jones stepped in and crushed a 472-foot home run to send what was left the Rockies crowd home happy. The 24-year-old is slashing .360/.407/.680 with four homers and 12 RBI through his first 15 games. At this point, Jones should be rostered in basically all fantasy formats.

Fri May 26 202316:51Nolan Jones Recalled, Brenton Doyle Not Expected To Go On IL
The Colorado Rockies will recall corner infielder/outfielder Nolan Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday and option first baseman Michael Toglia to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. The belief is rookie outfielder Brenton Doyle (knee) won't land on the 10-day injured list after injuring his knee during a crash into the outfield wall on Thursday. Doyle, a dynamic 25-year-old outfielder may miss a few games, but fantasy managers have to be happy that he's expected to miss considerable time. Jones, meanwhile, could be worth a waiver-wire pickup in deeper leagues if he sees enough playing time in Colorado. The left-handed hitter was batting a strong .356 (53-for-187) with 13 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs 42 RBI and five steals across 39 games for the Isotopes before his call-up.

Thu May 25 202322:18Nolan Jones Expected To Be Promoted To The Big Leagues
The Colorado Rockies will likely promote outfielder Nolan Jones to the majors to replace Brenton Doyle (knee) on Friday. Doyle was carted off the field after crashing into the center field wall while attempting to rob a home run in the top of the ninth inning. Jones was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque by the Rockies in mid-April. The 25-year-old has posted impressive numbers in Triple-A, slashing .356/.481/.711 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 38 runs, and five stole bases over 187 plate appearances. Jones will look to build on his performance in Triple-A when the Rockies host the Mets on Friday. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats can look to add Jones, as he should see an uptick in at-bats while Doyle is sidelined.

Sun Apr 16 202313:50Nolan Jones Optioned To Triple-A
Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Nolan Jones has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Jones was called up earlier this week after German Marquez landed on the injured list but he didn't appear in a game. He's been optioned back to the minors because Colorado needed a spot starter for Sunday's series finale against the Mariners. Jones should get another shot with the big league club later this year.

Wed Apr 12 202316:06German Marquez Goes On IL, Rockies Recall Nolan Jones
The Colorado Rockies placed starting pitcher German Marquez (forearm) on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with a right forearm injury and recalled infielder/outfielder Nolan Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Marquez doesn't have any structural damage in his arm, so he should come off the IL when eligible. Colorado's ace has made three starts this year and has allowed eight runs on 13 hits (three home runs allowed) while walking only two and striking out 13 in 16 1/3 innings pitched. Like most of the team's pitchers, he's best used as a streamer on the road. Jones, the team's No. 17 prospect per MLB Pipeline, already had six home runs and 14 RBI at Triple-A before his call-up, but it's unclear if he'll see enough playing time in Colorado to warrant fantasy attention outside of NL-only leagues.

Sat Apr 1 202310:31Nolan Jones Homers Twice For Albuquerque
Colorado Rockies' No. 17 prospect Nolan Jones had a big night in Triple-A on Friday. Jones smashed a pair of two-run homers for Albuquerque, making him the first player to hit two Opening Day homers for the Isotopes. Jones is a former top prospect for the Cleveland Guardians, hitting .244 with two homers and 13 RBI across 86 MLB at-bats for the team in 2022. Cleveland traded Jones to the Rockies in November for shortstop Juan Brito. Jones is worth keeping tabs on in deeper dynasty leagues in case he gets called up to join Colorado at some point during the season.

Tue Mar 21 202300:35Nolan Jones Optioned To Triple-A Albuquerque Monday
The Colorado Rockies optioned third baseman Nolan Jones to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, per the Communications Department's Twitter account. The 24-year-old, who was acquired from the Guardians in November had batted just .186 in 43 spring at-bats. However, he has intriguing power potential and can play first base and outfield. Jones will not start the season with the Rockies, but his multi-position skills could help him eventually re-join the team, especially if he hits well in Triple-A. Jones' power in Coors Field could be a fantasy asset, but fantasy managers will have to wait on that possibility for now.

Tue Nov 15 202220:21Rockies Acquire Nolan Jones From Guardians
The Colorado Rockies acquired infielder Nolan Jones from the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Juan Brito. Jones was a former second-round pick and is listed as Cleveland's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old has had some of the best walk rates in the minors over the last couple seasons, and he finished the season at Triple-A Columbus by hitting .276 with nine home runs, 43 RBI, 44 runs, four stolen bases and 31 walks in 55 games. In his first 28 games at the big-league level, Jones hit .244 (21-for-86) with two homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored. The left-handed hitter has a chance to play a lot at the hot corner in Colorado in 2023. Brito, meanwhile, was listed as the Rockies' No. 30 prospect. The 21-year-old switch-hitter batted .286 with 11 home runs, 72 RBI, 91 runs and 17 stolen bases in 107 games for Single-A Fresno this year.

Tue Jul 12 202201:00Nolan Jones Plates Four More Monday
Cleveland Guardians third base/outfield prospect Nolan Jones continued to impress in Monday's 8-4 win over the White Sox. The 24-year-old went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, four RBI, and a strikeout. Jones is known for his power potential and has looked intriguing in his first 16 plate appearances with the Guardians, slashing .538/.625/.923 with a home run and eight RBI. Obviously, these metrics won't stay this good, but Jones is worth keeping an eye on in the event that he can continue to bring the power at the big-league level.
