Tue Mar 10 201510:44Tyvon Branch: Signs With Chiefs
Branch has reached a one-year agreement with the Chiefs, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
Still only 28 years old, Branch topped 100 tackles in three consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2011. He made a name as one of the league's better strong safeties, but his stock has dropped considerably after he played just five total games in 2013 and 2014. He should have plenty of time to recover from the foot injury that ended his 2014 campaign, and he projects as a starter in Kansas City. Branch still has impressive upside, both in real-life and IDP terms. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are now unlikely to re-sign Ron Parker.

Branch's release frees up nearly $3 million in salary cap space for the Raiders in advance of free agency. Branch has been a productive IDP when healthy, but he's been limited to just five games over the last two seasons, including three in 2014 (in which he recorded 30 tackles).

Sun Sep 21 201416:26Branch suffered fractured foot in Sunday's loss to Patriots
Branch suffered a fractured foot in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
For the second consecutive season, Branch will fall victim to a long-term injury, dimming the luster of the former top-tier IDP defensive back. Branch looked to be well on his way to reclaiming his DB1 upside with 29 total tackles and a sack in his first three games, but the fractured foot figures to keep him out multiple weeks, if not the remainder of the season. Jonathan Dowling looks like the top candidate to step into a starting role at safety, but the Raiders could choose to scan the free agent market for other options.
Sat Aug 16 201410:01Tyvon Branch: Suffers New Ankle Injury
Branch left Friday's preseason game against the Lions with an ankle injury, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
An ankle injury limited Branch to just two games last season, and while coach Dennis Allen said immediately after Friday's game he didn't think his latest setback was serious, he added that he wasn't positive as to the extent of the issue. Brandian Ross seems like the top candidate to see increased reps at strong safety should Branch miss practice time.

He wasn't cleared to return after resuming practicing earlier this month and will be shut down with only three games remaining. DT Ricky Lumpkin has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Branch should be 100 percent for the start of training camp.
