Thu Mar 2122:11Fernando Tatis Jr. Closes Seoul Series On High Note
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and a walk in Thursday's 15-11 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, closing the two-game Seoul Series on a high note after going 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 5-2 defeat. Tatis drove one in on fielding error by Max Muncy during the third inning, bringing Jackson Merrill around to plate a run and give the Friars an early 8-2 lead. Following Juan Soto's offseason departure, San Diego is certainly going lean more on the dynamic Tatis as the engine of their offense in 2024. Across 27 at-bats in spring training, the 25-year-old All-Star hit .259 with a .767 OPS, one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base and will look to pick up steam in March 28's home opener versus the division-rival San Francisco Giants. In 13 games against the Giants last season, he slashed .276/.300/.517 with three homers, five doubles, five RBI, and 10 runs scored.

Sun Feb 412:50Fernando Tatis Jr. Expected To Stay In Right Field
San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt said that outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is strongly penciled in to start the 2024 season in right field, where he won a Platinum Gold Glove last year in his first season moving from shortstop to the outfield. "He's strongly penciled in to play right field, and that's the expectation for him and for us. But things always can change. So I'm not gonna close the door on anything, but at the moment there's nothing that indicates he's not going to play anything other than right field." There was some speculation that the Padres may move Tatis to center field after sending Trent Grisham to the New York Yankees in the blockbuster deal that included Juan Soto, but for now, Tatis will stick in right. On the offensive side, the 25-year-old may never get back to his pre-PED levels, but he's still an elite offensive force for his power-speed combination and should be a first-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Mon Jan 121:13Padres Prefer To Keep Fernando Tatis Jr. In Right Field
The San Diego Padres would like to keep outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr.'s Platinum Glove in right field in 2024, but they haven't ruled out the possibility of moving him over to center field after trading both Juan Soto and Trent Grisham to the New York Yankees this offseason. Most of the potential outfield trade candidates are limited to a corner outfield spot, and the free-agent center field market is a wasteland of options. Although the 24-year-old hit .225 with nine home runs and 15 steals in the second half of the season, he managed to stay healthy all year and played 141 games after serving a 20-game suspension to begin the year. It might be optimistic to expect him to return to his pre-PED form, but Tatis is better than his second half would suggest and offers fantasy managers plenty of upside offensively.

Sun Sep 10 202316:31Fernando Tatis Jr. Given Day Of Rest Sunday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Houston Astros. It's possible Tatis was given the day off because of the slump he finds himself in. Tatis has a .233/.299/.417 slash line over his last 15 games with 17 strikeouts compared to 14 hits. He's been even worse over his last seven games, being a non-contributor in fantasy. It's hard for fantasy managers to sit a player who has been amongst the 50 best in fantasy baseball this season, but if you have other options, you may want to consider it if the day off doesn't help.

Sat Sep 2 202302:25Fernando Tatis Jr. Smacks A Two-Run Shot In Padres Win
On Friday, San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-5 in a 7-3 victory over the Giants. In the first frame, Tatis Jr. wasted no time providing his team with an early lead by launching a two-run homer off right-handed hurler Tristan Beck. During the sixth inning, he struck again, smacking a double. The 24-year-old superstar has a slash line of .266/.329/.463 this season. He also has cranked 21 home runs, logged 69 RBI and stolen 23 bases across 477 trips to the plate.

Tue Aug 15 202300:37Fernando Tatis Jr. Reaches Twice, Swipes A Bag
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, a stolen base, and two strikeouts in a 4-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. The Padres couldn't get much of anything going against Grayson Rodriguez and the Orioles' bullpen as they mustered just four hits as a team, only one of which went for extra bases. Tatis Jr. was still able to salvage his night by reaching base twice and stealing his 20th base of the year. It's been a struggle for Tatis--and for most of the Padres lineup, for that matter--over the last month. The 24-year-old is slashing just .203/.258/.333 over the last 30 games so any game in which he reaches base multiple times should be considered a step in the right direction. With that said, he's working on a modest four-game hit streak so he'll look to extend that tomorrow against Jack Flaherty and the O's. For the season, Tatis is slashing .261/.319/.466 with 19 home runs, 62 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 414 at-bats.

Sat Jul 29 202311:45Fernando Tatis Jr. Goes Deep In Friday’s Victory
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 7-1 win over the Texas Rangers. The 24-year-old struck out twice before leaving the yard with a fifth-inning solo shot. Tatis then singled to drive in another run as part of a big four-run sixth-inning for the Friars. The two-time Silver Slugger may not be taking MLB by storm as he did during his first three years, but Tatis has performed superbly on both sides of the ball in his 2023 return from a wrist fracture and suspension. He is batting .279 with an .842 OPS, 18 homers, 52 RBI, and 16 stolen bases over 351 at-bats this season. That's good for top-25 average value in Yahoo roto leagues on the campaign.

Tue Jul 18 202316:14Fernando Tatis Jr. Back For Padres
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) is back in right field and is hitting second in the batting order on Tuesday against right-hander Alek Manoah and the Toronto Blue Jays. Tatis twisted his ankle in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies and didn't start on Sunday, although he came in late as a pinch-hitter and played several innings on defense. It's no surprise, then, that the 24-year-old superstar is back in action on Tuesday after a day off on Monday. Fantasy managers need to get him back in their starting lineups in all formats. Tatis has been one of San Diego's best hitters all year long, and he's gone 17-for-49 (.347) with two home runs, three doubles, a triple, 12 RBI and nine runs scored in 12 games in July.

Mon Jul 17 202312:16Fernando Tatis Jr. Makes Pinch-Hit Appearance Sunday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) made an appearance as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of the team's 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in 12 innings on Sunday. Tatis finished the contest 1-for-2 with two RBI and finished the game in right field, so the ankle injury he suffered on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader doesn't appear to be very serious. Manager Bob Melvin said before Sunday's game that the 24-year-old superstar was feeling much better on Sunday morning, too, so he should be back in Tuesday's lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays after an off day on Monday. Fantasy managers should be prepared to get Tatis back in their starting lineups in all formats this week.

Sun Jul 16 202312:35Fernando Tatis Jr. Feeling Better, Could Be Available Off The Bench
San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin said that outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) is feeling better than expected on Sunday and could be available off the bench in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, the Padres will likely err on the side of caution and keep Tatis out in rainy weather in Philadelphia. With Tatis out, Brandon Dixon is starting in right field and batting eighth against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler. With San Diego off on Monday, hopefully the 24-year-old Tatis will return to the lineup for the start of a series on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Tatis has been one of the team's most consistent producers all year and is hitting a strong .283/.341/.521 with an .862 OPS, 17 long balls, 47 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 53 runs scored in 307 at-bats.

Sun Jul 16 202309:18Fernando Tatis Jr. Twists Ankle On Saturday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) exited the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies with a twisted ankle. The 24-year-old suffered the injury near the warning track while chasing down a double during the third inning. Tatis was able to stick around for a little while longer, but was eventually pulled during the sixth frame for Brandon Dixon in right field. The superstar went 0-for-3 with one RBI before his night concluded. Tatis is deemed day-to-day, as he appears to have avoided a significant setback. Fantasy managers can exhale. With an off day on Monday, it's possible that the speedy slugger could be out of Sunday's lineup for the series finale in Philadelphia.

Sat Jul 15 202321:24Fernando Tatis Jr. Removed From Saturday's Game
San Diego Padres star outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was pulled from Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Phillies with an apparent injury. He appeared to come up slightly gimpy after chasing a double in the third inning. The 24-year-old stayed in the game but was replaced in the sixth inning by Brandon Dixon. He went 0-for-3 with an RBI before exiting. Tatis is considered day-to-day, and the Padres should have an update after the game. Dixon should see an uptick in playing time if Tatis were to miss any time. Stay tuned for more updates.

Thu Jun 29 202312:00Fernando Tatis Jr. Leading Off On Thursday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the Friars on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Luis L. Ortiz. Ha-Seong Kim, who had hit leadoff the last couple days, will drop to seventh in the batting order while starting at second base. With the flailing Padres looking to avoid a sweep on the road, they'll use the 24-year-old in the top spot in the order. Tatis has been one of the team's best hitters this season, batting .280 (70-for-250) with 15 homers, 36 RBI, 14 steals and 43 runs scored. He's also hit .302 (51-for-169) with 12 doubles, 11 homers, 23 RBI and 10 steals in 41 games out of the leadoff spot. Tatis remains a no-doubt, must-start in fantasy.

Sat Jun 24 202310:01Fernando Tatis Jr. Intensifies Sizzling June In Rout
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. finished 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and a stolen base in Friday's lopsided 13-3 win over the Washington Nationals. The 24-year-old continues to enjoy an impressive return to play after missing some of April and all of last season with a left wrist fracture and PED suspension. Tatis is churning up a sensational June, slashing an absurd .378/.474/.744 with six bombs, 16 RBI, and eight thefts. The speedy slugger is burgeoning towards first-round fantasy value, slashing .289/.359/.556 with 15 home runs, 35 RBI, and 13 pilfers across 232 at-bats overall.

Wed Jun 14 202312:17Fernando Tatis Jr. Heating Up In June
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. has hit .386 with a 1.255 OPS in 11 games so far in the month of June. In the five games he's been back in the leadoff spot, he has chased just 20.5 percent of pitches he's seen outside the strike zone. Before that, he had been chasing at a 30 percent rate. "Timing is good, my rhythm is good," Tatis said after going 1-for-3 with his team-leading 13th home run of the season, a walk and two runs scored in the win over the Guardians on Tuesday night. "I just feel good all over the plate. Fastball, breaking ball. I just feel like I'm seeing everything well right now." The 24-year-old Dominican superstar is now hitting .273 (53-for-194) with 11 doubles, 33 RBI, eight stolen bases and 31 runs scored in 46 games played.

Wed Jun 14 202306:53Fernando Tatis Jr. Hits 13th HR Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two runs, and a walk in a 6-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday. Tatis' solo shot came off of Cleveland rookie right-hander Tanner Bibee in the second inning. The blast had an exit velocity of 106.9 MPH and traveled 405 feet. Tatis already has 13 homers this season, despite missing the first 20 games of the year while recovering from injury. Overall, Tatis is batting .273 with 31 runs, 33 RBI, and eight steals across 194 at-bats. Despite not playing at all in the 2022 season, Tatis remains an elite fantasy hitter who has been red-hot at the plate of late, hitting .311 with five homers in his past 15 games.

Fri Jun 2 202300:59Fernando Tatis Jr. Has Big Game Thursday
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. filled up the score sheet on Thursday, leading the Padres to a 10-1 drubbing of the Miami Marlins. Tatis went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored, four RBI, and a stolen base. This game likely felt good for Tatis, as he slumped in May with a .229/.286/.450 slash line, although he has managed seven homers and five steals to keep fantasy managers happy. His Statcast page is still very red, and his xWOBA (.347) is quite a bit higher than his actual WOBA (.319), so expect him to heat up soon. He should still be considered a top-five fantasy player for the rest of the season.

Wed May 31 202304:33Fernando Tatis Jr. Drives In A Run In Tuesday's Win
San Diego Padres outfielderFernando Tatis Jr.went 1-for-4 with a single, an RBI, a stolen base, and a walk in Tuesday's 9-4 win against the Miami Marlins. The 24-year-old has not collected multiple hits in his last nine games and has not hit a double in over two weeks. Tatis is still hitting for great power despite his mild struggles, as shown by his nine home runs in May. Two home runs came in Yankee Stadium, where the fans had some words for Tatis. The Padres have also moved Tatis to the number two spot in the lineup, as opposed to his regular leadoff role. The change has not led to the desired effect, but fantasy managers should be reassured. Tatis is one of the best young talents in the game, and he's bound to heat up.

Wed May 17 202315:21Fernando Tatis Jr. Hitting Third Against KC
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is hitting third in the batting order on Wednesday and playing right field against right-hander Carlos Hernandez and the Kansas City Royals with third baseman Manny Machado (hand) missing his second straight game. Tatis will be moving from his normal leadoff spot into the heart of the batting order to try and help replace Machado, who had been slumping before his injury on Monday. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts will replace Tatis at the top of the order Wednesday. Tatis has been one of San Diego's best hitters all year to this point, as he's slashing .287/.327/.485 with five doubles, five home runs, 12 RBI, three steals and 14 runs scored in 23 games. Expect him to move back to leadoff once Machado returns.
