Tillman (non-injury) is listed as active Sunday at Tampa Bay. |
Working opposite Josh Norman (personal) should begin to work in Tillman's favor, as the veteran has only tallied one pass defended versus five for the NFC's defensive player of the month in September. Despite the lack of attention from the opposition, Tillman has racked up 17 tackles (12 solo) across three games. |

Tillman recorded nine tackles (six solo) in Sunday's game against the Saints. |
Tillman's nine tackles trailed only starting linebackers Thomas Davis (pectoral) and A.J. Klein for the Panthers' team lead Sunday. On the back of that outing, Tillman has now totaled 17 tackles (12 solo) and one pass defended through his first three games in Carolina. |

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Tillman is no longer being evaluated under the NFL's concussion protocol, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports. |
Tillman is expected to be close to a full participant in practices this week as the Panthers prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Steelers. The long-time Bears cornerback is in line to assume a starting role in his first year with Carolina. |

Tillman did in fact suffer a concussion during Friday's game against the Patriots and was held out of Sunday's practice while under the league's concussion protocol, Joseph Persona and Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer report. |
Tillman won't likely feature in Thursday's final preseason game against the Steelers as he'll put all of his focus on passing his mandatory examinations so he can be ready for the start of the regular season on Sept. 13 in Jacksonville. It initially seems that he'll have enough time to recover, but there's always the possibility that his concussion will linger and threaten his availability. |
Fri Aug 28 2015 | 23:13 | Contradicting previous report |
Contradicting a previous report, Tillman did in fact suffer a head injury in Friday's game, the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Jones reports. |
Hopefully this time the Panthers are releasing accurate information regarding Tillman's status, as the team originally said he suffered a head injury, only for coach Ron Rivera to say it was not a head injury after the game. His status will presumably be updated prior to Thursday's preseason finale. |
Fri Aug 28 2015 | 22:50 | Tillman did not suffer head injury in Friday's game |
Tillman did not suffer a head injury in Friday's game, but instead got the wind knocked out of him, the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person reports. |
The dissemination of information regarding Tillman's status Friday was pretty shoddy, but after the game coach Ron Rivera contradicted a release from the team that stated Tillman left with a head injury. Assuming Rivera's remarks are accurate, Tillman should be ready to go for Thursday's preseason finale. |

Tillman suffered a head injury in Friday's game and will not return. |
He was seen puking on the sidelines but then returned to action Friday only to finally be ruled out at halftime. Considering it is being labeled a head injury there is a chance that Tillman may have suffered a concussion. Look for his status to be updated prior to Thursday's preseason finale in Pittsburgh. |
Fri Aug 28 2015 | 20:32 | Tillman able to return to field |
Tillman, who briefly left Friday's game with an illness, was able to return to the field, the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Jones reports. |
He was seen puking on the sideline, but the effects of the illness were obviously not long-lasting so he should be considered healthy moving forward. |
Fri Aug 28 2015 | 20:19 | Tillman left Friday's preseason game with illness |
Tillman left Friday's preseason game with an illness, the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person reports. |
He was apparently puking on the sideline Friday, but odds are the illness is not something that will affect Tillman's status for the start of the regular season. |
Thu Apr 9 2015 | 17:45 | Charles Tillman: (Triceps) Signs With Panthers |
Tillman (triceps) signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Thursday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. |
Tillman may have the most recognizable name in the Carolina secondary, but the Panthers' young defensive backs came on strong at the end of the 2014 season. The 34-year-old corner will likely just be third or fourth on the depth chart entering training camp, with Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere seemingly locked into the top two spots. Tillman should have plenty of time to recover from the torn triceps that cost him nearly all of the 2015 season. |
Wed Sep 24 2014 | 10:50 | Tillman underwent surgery Tuesday to repair torn right triceps |
Tillman, who has already been ruled out for the season, underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his torn right triceps, ESPN Chicago reports. |
Tillman's season has been cut short for the second straight year due to the same injury. With the former Pro Bowler sidelined, rookie first-rounder Kyle Fuller will continue to start at cornerback. In his past two games, Fuller has played quite admirably, tallying 14 tackles (11 solo), three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. |

Tillman (triceps) is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve, ESPN reports. |
Tillman missed the final eight games of last season due to a triceps injury and unfortunately re-aggravated the same ailment Sunday night versus the 49ers. An exceptional cornerback when healthy, Tillman's absence is certainly an unwelcomed development for the Bears' secondary. With the 11-year veteran ruled out, promising rookie first-rounder Kyle Fuller is expected to step up and become Chicago's starting cornerback opposite Tim Jennings. |
Sun Sep 14 2014 | 22:55 | Charles Tillman: Exits With Triceps Injury |
Tillman suffered a triceps injury, and he will not return to Sunday's game against the 49ers. |
Tillman, who missed the final eight games of last season with a triceps injury, was ruled out for the night shortly after getting hurt. That obviously doesn't bode well for his future availability, which means rookie first-round draft pick Kyle Fuller may assume the starting job. With Sherrick McManis (quad) previously exiting Sunday's game, the Bears are down to just two healthy cornerbacks -- Fuller and Tim Jennings. |
Mon Sep 8 2014 | 21:17 | Tillman accrued four tackles in Sunday's loss to Bills |
Tillman accrued four tackles in Sunday's loss to the Bills. |
The tackle total was slightly less than we've been accustomed to seeing from Tillman over the last few seasons, but made up for it by limiting the Bills' number of big plays in the passing game. Even as his production declines in his age-33 season, Tillman still figures to collect enough tackles and force enough turnovers to rank among the better IDP defensive back options by season's end. |

Speaking Friday, Bears GM Phil Emery insisted that Peanut Tillman would remain at cornerback, and not be moved to safety. |

Fri Mar 14 2014 | 16:47 | Bears keep CB Peanut Tillman with 1-year deal |
Bears re-signed CB Charles Tillman to a one-year contract. |
Tillman visited the Bucs and former Bears coach Lovie Smith in free agency, but otherwise received zero interest. Peanut was one of the league's top corners in 2012, but was ineffective as he played through injury last season. A born playmaker, Tillman is open to moving to safety. The Bears have holes at both safety and cornerback, but going on 33, safety could make the most sense for Tillman in 2014. |

Wed Mar 12 2014 | 14:49 | Bucs host Peanut Tillman |
The Bucs hosted free agent CB Charles Tillman on Wednesday. |
The Buccaneers had a slew of visitors at One Buc Place on the second day of free agency, including Josh McCown whom they proceeded to hand a two-year, $10 million deal. Tillman reuniting with old coach Lovie Smith seems inevitable. |

ESPN's Adam Caplan reported on NFL Insiders that "teams are doing search" on free agent CB Charles Tillman's ability to play safety. |
Caplan didn't say whether Tillman would be open to the position conversion, at which he's publicly balked in the past. Tillman has always been an excellent ball stripper and tackler. In theory, he'd be a natural fit for safety. |
