The Tampa Bay Rays have traded right-hander
Diego Castillo to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-hander
JT Chargois and third baseman
Austin Shenton. Seattle recently traded closer
Kendall Graveman and now acquired his replacement in Diego Castillo. The 27-year-old has been terrific as the Rays closer in 2021, converting 14-of-16 save chances to go along with a 2.72 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 49:10 K: BB across 36 1/3 innings in 2021. He should immediately take over the closer role in Seattle. As for Tampa Bay,
Pete Fairbanks (shoulder), when healthy, will handle closing duties for the Rays until
Nick Anderson (elbow) is activated from the injured list.
Andrew Kittredge is the favorite for save opportunities until Anderson and Fairbanks return from the IL. Fantasy managers searching for saves can add Kittredge as a temporary fix.
