Sat Nov 20 201008:13Sborz inks minor league deal with Braves
Braves signed RHP Jay Sborz to a minor league deal.
A 2003 second-round pick, Sbroz moved at a glacial pace through the minors, not reaching Double-A until 2009. He has pitched fairly well the last two seasons, though, other than getting hammered in his lone big league appearance, as he's struck out over a batter per inning. Sborz, who turns 26 in January, will attempt to earn a bullpen spot with the Braves in spring training.
Thu Nov 4 201013:49Tigers outright Sborz to Triple-A
Tigers sent RHP Jay Sborz outright to Triple-A Toledo.
Just a formality, as the former second-round pick will become a free agent on Saturday. The 25-year-old right-hander was knocked around in his lone appearance in the big leagues this season and posted a 4.74 ERA and 42/24 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 innings with Triple-A Toledo.
Fri Jun 25 201017:53Tigers demote RHP Sborz
Tigers optioned RHP Jay Sborz to Triple-A Toledo.
Sborz had an ugly major league debut, giving up five runs in two-thirds of an inning in Tuesday's loss to the Mets. The Tigers will probably try someone else next time they bring up a reliever.

Tigers recalled RHP Jay Sborz from Triple-A Toledo.
Sborz has posted a 1.16 WHIP, a 28/13 K/BB ratio and 15 saves in 26-plus innings as Toledo's closer this season. He should do well in the majors, but will stick to a middle relief or setup role.
Mon Jun 21 201009:11Sborz to be called up in place of Porcello
The Tigers will call up right-hander Jay Sborz on Tuesday to take Rick Porcello's spot on the 25-man roster.
Sborz, 25, was drafted in the second round of the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft. He has served as Triple-A Toledo's closer this season and has rattled off a 1.16 WHIP, a 3.04 ERA and 15 saves in 26 2/3 innings.
