Padres signed RHP Eddie Bonine to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Tucson.
Bonine was released by the Diamondbacks on Saturday morning but was jobless for only a few hours. The righty had a 6.30 ERA in four appearances at Triple-A Reno. He's still building strength following Tommy John surgery.

Bonine signed a split contract with the Diamondbacks this offseason, so they only ended up having to pay him a minor league salary. He posted a 6.40 ERA in four appearances with Triple-A Reno. Bonine will look to reestablish himself with another team after missing all of 2012 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Phillies signed RHP Eddie Bonine to a minor-league contract.
He received an invite to Spring Training as part of the pact. Bonine was 4-1 with a 4.63 ERA and 26/22 K/BB ratio over 68 innings in 47 appearances as a rookie with the Tigers this past year. The 29-year-old right-hander elected to become a free agent after being outrighted to Triple-A Toledo last week. Bonine will attempt to make the Phillies out of camp as a mediocre long relief innings eater who can spot start.

The Phillies are interested in signing Eddie Bonine to a minor league deal, according to FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
The Tigers would also like to bring back Bonine on a minor league contract. He's certainly nothing special, but he can eat innings in middle relief and spot start when necessary.

Eddie Bonine left Sunday's game with a cramp underneath his rib cage, but expects to be fine.
"I threw a pitch and it kind of knotted up on me," Bonine said. "I've never cramped up underneath my rib before, so I don't really know what that was. I just cramped up and I just needed to take a big breath, and I was fine." It doesn't appear as though he will miss any time.
