Mon Feb 1918:08Harrison Bader To Play Center, Brandon Nimmo In Left
Outfielder Harrison Bader is set to serve as the New York Mets' center fielder this year, with Brandon Nimmo shifting to left field, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. Bader will give the Mets an upgrade in center over Nimmo. However, the 29-year-old Bader has had trouble staying healthy and took a step back offensively last year with a .232/.274/.348 slash line with seven homers, 40 RBI and 20 steals in 98 games with the Yankees and Reds. Bader hasn't played in over 100 games since 2021 and will mostly be appealing to fantasy managers for his speed in deeper mixed leagues while hitting near the bottom of the order in New York. Nimmo, meanwhile, will be a strong No. 3 outfielder in fantasy after slashing .274/.363/.466 with 24 homers, 68 RBI and 89 runs in 152 games in 2023 as the Mets' leadoff hitter.

Thu Jan 411:42Mets Sign Harrison Bader
The New York Mets signed free-agent outfielder Harrison Bader to a one-year deal for approximately $10 million, according to a source. The Mets have been looking for help in the outfield this offseason, and Bader should immediately slot in as their primary center fielder in 2024, which will allow Brandon Nimmo to slide over to a corner-outfield spot. The 29-year-old Bader, a former third-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015 out of the University of Florida, has become more of a defense-first player. Bader has been known to be a streak hitter at the plate and finished this past season with a .232/.274/.348 slash line, seven home runs, 40 RBI, 20 stolen bases and 44 runs score in 98 games for the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds. He can be a decent source of runs scored and stolen bases for fantasy managers, but he's dealt with his fair share of injuries as well, playing in over 100 games just three times in his seven MLB seasons.

Thu Dec 7 202322:02Giants, Padres Interested In Harrison Bader
The San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres have been active on center fielders this offseason, including Harrison Bader. Korean outfielder Jung-Hoo Lee is also of interest to both the Giants and the Padres, as well as plenty of other teams. The Padres just dealt outfielders Juan Soto and Trent Grisham in a blockbuster deal to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. If they'd prefer not to move Fernando Tatis Jr. to center field, signing a defensive-minded center fielder like Bader would make some sense. Not only can the 29-year-old Bader patrol center field, but he stole a career-high 20 bases in 98 games with the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds in 2023. Pretty much anything the Friars get from a new center fielder offensively in 2024 would be an upgrade over Grisham, who really struggled with the bat the last two years.

Mon Sep 18 202314:26Reds Place Harrison Bader On 10-Day Injured List
The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Harrison Bader (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right-groin strain. The team also reinstated left-hander Alex Young (illness) from the COVID-19 list and optioned right-hander Carson Spiers to Triple-A Louisville. Bader injured himself on Sunday against the New York Mets and will most likely miss the rest of the regular season. The 29-year-old was claimed off waivers from the New York Yankees last month and only played in 14 games for the Reds before getting hurt, going 5-for-31 (.161) with no homers, three RBI, three stolen bases and four runs scored in 34 plate appearances. If Bader's season is over, he'll finish 2023 with a disappointing .232/.274/.348 slash line with seven homers, 40 RBI, a career-high 20 steals and 44 runs scored in 98 games with the Yanks and Reds.

Thu Aug 31 202314:22Harrison Bader Picked Up By Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Reds claimed outfielder Harrison Bader off waivers from the New York Yankees on Thursday, according to sources. The Reds added both Bader and outfielder Hunter Renfroe off waivers on Thursday as they attempt to win a wild-card spot in the National League in the final month of the regular season. They're currently just one game out of the final spot. The 29-year-old Bader should at least have a platoon spot in center field for his new team in Cincy with TJ Friedl. The oft-injured Bader could probably use a change of scenery, too, as he was hitting .240 (69-for-288) with seven home runs, 37 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 40 runs scored for the Yankees this year. Bader will hit the open market this winter as a free agent.

Tue Aug 29 202318:34Harrison Bader Waived By Yankees
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader has been waived by the organization on Tuesday. The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. Clearly, the Yankees don't plan on bringing him back, so they'll waive him in hopes of getting some salary relief. This season, Bader is slashing .242/.279/.370 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 74 games. He doesn't offer much upside with the bat, but plays above average defense. He could be worth a look as a possible fourth outfielder on a playoff contending team.

Tue Aug 1 202315:15Harrison Bader Drawing Trade Interest, Absent From Lineup Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader is generating interest ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. It's also worth noting that he isn't in the Yankees' starting lineup for Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. While it remains to be seen whether New York wants to trade Bader specifically, there have been numerous reports suggesting the club is willing to part with rentals. Bader is a free agent after this season and could provide support to a contender with his .256/.283/.417 slash line, 16.0% strikeout rate, and 6.3 dWAR through 57 games in center field.

Sun Jul 23 202311:59Harrison Bader Returns To Sunday's Lineup
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (ribs) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday, starting in center field and batting sixth against the visiting Kansas City Royals and right-hander Jordan Lyles. Bader will be making his first start for the Yankees since suffering bruised ribs on Wednesday, and he also served as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's game. The 29-year-old should be rostered in most fantasy leagues for his power/speed abilities as New York's starting center fielder, but he's been a bit of a disappointment in his first full season in the Bronx in 2023. Injuries have held him to just 50 games played, and he's batting .247 (34-for-174) with seven homers, 31 RBI, nine stolen bases and 23 runs scored in 186 plate appearances.

Wed Jul 19 202322:03Harrison Bader Dealing With Rib Injury
Updating a previous report, New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (rib) left the game early on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels with a left posterior rib contusion. Bader was hit in the ribs by a pitch in the sixth inning and had to leave. The good news is that the 29-year-old should be able to avoid another stint on the injured list, but he could still have to miss a few games, despite the Yankees having an off day on Thursday before starting a new series on Friday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Bader has been disappointing in fantasy because of injuries the last two years, but he deserves to be rostered in most fantasy leagues because of his power/speed combination when healthy.

Wed Jul 19 202321:23Harrison Bader Exits After Being Hit By Pitch
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (back) left the game early on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels after being hit by a pitch in the back in the top of the sixth inning. Isiah Kiner-Falefa took over for Bader in center field. Until we get an update on Bader's status, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With an off day on Thursday, Bader could return to the lineup on Friday against the visiting Kansas City Royals if his injury is minor. The 29-year-old can't seem to catch a break with injuries over recent seasons, and he's played in 49 games in 2023 in his first full year in the Bronx. Bader went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in Wednesday's game before leaving to drop his season average to .243 with a .698 OPS.

Fri Jun 23 202318:45Harrison Bader To Miss Friday's Game
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Texas Rangers. The 29-year-old recently returned from the injured list, so it appears the Yankees are going to be cautious with him. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Bader. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will cover center field and bat sixth versus right-hander Dane Dunning on Friday.

Tue Jun 20 202313:28Yankees Reinstate Harrison Bader From Injured List
The New York Yankees reinstated outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. He should return to the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners and right-hander George Kirby. Bader has been out with a strained right hamstring since the end of May, but he should return to being the team's regular center fielder. In three minor-league rehab games, he went 2-for-12 with five strikeouts, so fantasy managers might want to expect a little rust at the plate. The 29-year-old outfielder was hitting .267 (24-for-90) with two triples, six home runs, 19 RBI, six stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 26 games before his injury, and his power/speed combination makes him worth rostering in mixed fantasy leagues.

Mon Jun 19 202301:04Harrison Bader Likely Returning Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) is expected to return from the injured list on Tuesday. Bader has been out since late May with a right hamstring strain and was originally expected to return last Friday, but was given a few extra rehab games over the weekend. The Yankees have sent down Oswaldo Cabrera to open up a roster spot for Bader. The 29-year-old is batting .267 with six homers and six steals in 26 games, making for an interesting power/speed combination. He holds some value in rotisserie/category leagues and should be rostered in most of them.

Fri Jun 16 202316:50Harrison Bader Not Back From Injured List Yet
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) was not activated from the injured list before the team's game against the division-rival Boston Red Sox on Friday. Bader was originally expected to return on Friday for the series opener against Boston, but he will now play two more minor-league rehab games with Double-A Somerset on Friday and Saturday before returning to the Yankees on Tuesday. The 29-year-old has been out with a right-hamstring strain since late May and went hitless with two strikeouts in four at-bats for Somerset on Wednesday. Bader was hitting .267 (24-for-90) with two triples, six home runs, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 26 games before his injury. His power/speed combination makes him valuable in mixed fantasy leagues, so if he's still available on your waiver wire, pick him up now. Bader is rostered in 43% of Yahoo leagues currently.

Tue Jun 13 202319:05Yankees Planning For Harrison Bader To Return Friday
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that the plan is for outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) to play in a minor-league rehab game on Wednesday and then return for the series opener against the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Bader has been away from the Yankees since late May with a right-hamstring strain, but he's made good progress and should rejoin the starting lineup in center field this weekend. The 29-year-old will return to a .267 average (24-for-90) with two triples, six home runs, 19 RBI, six stolen bases and 14 runs scored in his 26 games played. For his power-speed combination and regular playing time in a potent offense, Bader should be rostered in the majority of fantasy leagues, but he's currently rostered in only 43% of Yahoo leagues.

Sat Jun 10 202321:18Harrison Bader Making Progress
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) is progressing after landing on the IL. He's been out with a low-grade hamstring string, but fortunately, he's been running, hitting, and throwing without discomfort, which is certainly a positive sign. The 29-year-old has played well enough this season to land on some fantasy rosters, hitting .267 with 14 runs, 19 RBI, and six home runs in 26 games. Skipper Aaron Boone isn't sure if Bader will need a rehab assignment. But it sounds like he could be back in the lineup relatively soon, possibly by the end of June, at the latest.

Wed May 31 202312:39Harrison Bader Dealing With Low-Grade Strain
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader's right-hamstring strain is classified as "low-grade" and he'll be out at least "a couple of weeks," according to manager Aaron Boone. It's good news overall, but Hader will still be away from the Yankees for multiple weeks and must be stashed in fantasy leagues until then. The 28-year-old outfielder will leave behind a .267/.295/.511 slash line with six home runs, 19 RBI, six stolen bases and 14 runs scored until he can come off the injured list. Greg Allen should see most of the playing time in center field for the time being in the Bronx, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa could also see some action in the outfield as well.

Tue May 30 202321:39Harrison Bader Heading To The Injured List
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) will take another trip to the injured list on Tuesday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. The 28-year-old suffered a right hamstring strain in Monday's game and underwent an MRI earlier on Tuesday. It's unclear how long he'll be out, but that's tough news for fantasy managers who were already without Bader for more than a month to begin the season. The former St. Louis Cardinal is slashing .267/.295/.511 with six home runs, 14 runs, 19 RBI, and six steals over 26 games in 2023. In a corresponding move, the club recalled Franchy Cordero, who will likely get a solid amount of playing time but owns just a .578 OPS this year over 18 games.

Tue May 30 202316:50Harrison Bader Could Land On Injured List
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) will at the very least miss the next few games, and his injury could require a trip to the injured list, according to manager Aaron Boone. Bader left Monday night's Memorial Day game early against the Seattle Mariners with a right-hamstring injury, and he's undergoing an MRI exam on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should plan for the worst for the 28-year-old, which would mean a couple weeks of missed action if he goes on the 15-day injured list. If Bader requires an extended absence, Greg Allen and Isiah Kiner-Falefa could see more playing time in center field. So far through 90 at-bats in 2023, Bader is hitting .267 with two triples, six homers, 19 RBI, six stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 95 plate appearances.

Tue May 30 202309:12Harrison Bader Going For An MRI Tuesday
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (hamstring) exited Monday's 10-4 win over the Seattle Mariners with a right hamstring injury. According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, the former Gold Glove winner is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday, and manager Aaron Boone said it doesn't seem serious, but the team doesn't want to rule out a trip to the injured list before the testing. Fantasy managers should consider Bader day-to-day and check back for more updates. Hopefully, the 28-year-old doesn't have to miss more time after starting 2023 on the IL. Since returning to action on May 2, he's been a solid fantasy contributor, slashing .267/.295/.511 with six homers, 14 runs, 19 RBI, and six stolen bases over 26 games.
