Sat Apr 13 201316:07Could K Jason Hanson return in-season?
FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez "gets the feeling" recently-retired free agent K Jason Hanson would listen if asked about kicking in-season.
Hanson, 43 in June, reiterated to Marvez that he only wanted to play for Detroit. The Lions inked 38-year-old David Akers last week, and they also signed Norwegian trick-kick artist Havard Rugland. If neither works out, there's a good chance they'd give Hanson a call. Hanson is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his plant foot, which caused him to retire last week.

Thu Apr 4 201316:05Long-time Lions K Jason Hanson hangs 'em up
Free agent K Jason Hanson announced his retirement.
Hanson, 42, spent all 21 seasons of his career with the Lions. He had an 82.4 percent success rate over that time, connecting on 55.9 percent of his kicks from 50-plus yards out. Hanson cites a foot injury as the main reason he is hanging up the cleats, and the Lions' unwillingness to offer much more than the veteran's minimum to bring him back for a 22nd season likely also contributed to his decision. Detroit is now looking for a new punter and kicker.

The Lions' contract negotiations with free agent K Jason Hanson "so far have gone nowhere."
The Lions have stepped up efforts to replace Hanson and will host David Akers for a free-agent visit this week. After banging home 32 of his 36 field goal tries last season, Hanson may want Phil Dawson money (one year, $2.35 million).

Wed Mar 20 201309:53No deal yet between Hanson, Lions
The agent for free agent K Jason Hanson said the Lions have not made an acceptable offer yet.
There's no urgency here as Hanson isn't going to play for anyone other than Detroit -- his home for the last 21 seasons. But perhaps he isn't willing to kick for the veteran minimum after all. Hanson made $2.55 million in 2012.

Mon Mar 18 201318:19Lions working on re-signing K Hanson
The Lions are currently working on re-signing free agent K Jason Hanson.
Hanson, 43 in June, informed the Lions last week that he plans to continue his career, and it's expected that the two sides will work something out. Last season, Hanson converted 32-of-36 field goal attempts. He'll likely score a one-year deal at the veteran's minimum.

Free agent K Jason Hanson has decided that he wants to play another season.

Lions K Jason Hanson is still weighing his options on whether he'll return for his 22nd season.

Wed Feb 13 201308:55Lions optimistic that Hanson will return
Lions GM Martin Mayhew remains optimistic that free agent K Jason Hanson will not retire this offseason.
Hanson is coming off another solid year that saw him convert 32-of-36 field goals -- including an impressive 18-of-22 mark from 40-plus yards out. Although he'll be 43 in June, the Lions want him back for a 22nd season. Hanson said he's willing to play for the 10-year veteran minimum, which will be $940,000 in 2013.

Thu Dec 27 201208:36Jason Hanson unsure if he'll be back
Lions K Jason Hanson doesn't think he's going to retire this offseason.
Hanson, an impending free agent, will turn 43 in June and is wrapping up his 21st year with the Lions. You wouldn't know how old he is by watching him kick, however. Hanson is 31-of-35 on the season and 17-of-21 from 40-plus yards out. His 128 points are the most he's scored since 1995. "It's a commitment and I'm not going to do it unless I feel like I can and I'm going to work like I always have," Hanson said. "You take that break (after the season but) when you start up, from OTAs to now it's a lot of work. So again, I'll really process it. Those are the conversations that'll take place."

Jason Hanson has won the Lions placekicker job, as expected.
Undrafted rookie Derek Dimke was cut on Monday. Hanson is 42, but still has one of the most powerful legs in the game. He has gone 8-for-11 on field goals of 50-plus yards over the last two seasons and is aided by the Ford Field dome.

Wed Aug 1 201208:36Jason Hanson locked in once again
Jason Hanson, 42, says he is still comfortable kicking field goals from up to 60 yards out.
The only "competition" Hanson has this summer is undrafted rookie Derek Dimke. He'll once again ride the ideal conditions inside Ford Field and the Lions' explosive offense to a strong fantasy finish. Over the last two seasons, Hanson has made 8-of-11 kicks from 50-plus yards out.

Mon Jan 23 201209:24Jason Hanson expects competition
Jason Hanson expects to face competition for the placekicking job this offseason.
Hanson hit on 24-of-29 field goals in 2011, but will be 42 in June. He beat out Dave Rayner to retain the gig in last year's training camp. "I think the days of not having competition are over, because I'm old and they're probably always wondering when's the day when he falls to the ground," Hanson said.

Jason Hanson intends to return to Detroit for a 21st season in 2012.

Jason Hanson (knee) connected on both his field-goal attempts in Sunday's loss to the Bears.

Thu Nov 10 201108:43Lions work out Lloyd, Crossman
The Lions worked out free agent kickers Rhys Lloyd and Danny Crossman.
Jason Hanson has an injured left knee. The Lions have not released the nature of the ailment, but it's possible he had a minor procedure done during the bye week. Although Hanson was having a dynamite season (17-of-18, four field goals of 50-plus yards), fantasy owners now need to look elsewhere.

Wed Nov 9 201115:08Jason Hanson dealing with knee issue
Lions K Jason Hanson's Week 10 status is up in the air after his knee required stitches.
The Lions worked out two kickers Wednesday, so Hanson is far from a slam dunk to be active against the Bears. Look elsewhere at kicker.

Fri Sep 23 201109:47Jason Hanson breaks Matthews' record
After last week's game against the Chiefs, Lions K Jason Hanson now holds the NFL record with 297 games played with one franchise.
Hanson broke the mark held by Hall of Fame OL Bruce Matthews, who played with the Oilers/Titans franchise from 1983-2001. For a player annually on one of the worst teams in the league, Hanson should be rewarded this year in a long-awaited renaissance season for the Lions.

Mon Sep 19 201113:09Jason Hanson won't stop kicking
Jason Hanson has made at least one 50-yard field goal in 17 consecutive seasons.
Hanson is 41 but remains one of the best deep-ball kickers in the game. After winning the job with an impressive training camp, he's already 4-for-4 on field goals and 9-for-9 on extra points through two games. Hanson is a fantasy kicker to target as part of the Lions' explosive offense.
