RHP Tyler Wagner was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday, four days after recording his first major league victory with five innings of scoreless relief in a 6-2 victory over San Francisco that concluded a four-game series sweep at AT&T Park on April 21. Wagner gave up three runs (two earned) and five hits in three innings of Arizona's 12-10, 13-inning loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Wagner was 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in three relief appearances with the Diamondbacks, although the team still sees him as a starter. "We made it clear to him he needs to go down and get starting," Arizona manager Chip Hale said. "In a perfect world, our five starters would go and run it the whole year, but we know it's not a perfect world."

RHP Tyler Wagner was called up from Triple-A Reno on Monday to give the Diamondbacks another bullpen option. In two starts for Reno this year, Wagner was 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA. He made his major league debut with Milwaukee last year, going 0-2 with a 7.24 ERA in three starts.

RHP Tyler Wagner and SS Jean Segura were acquired by the Diamondbacks from the Brewers on Saturday in exchange for INF Aaron Hill, RHP Chase Anderson, SS Isan Diaz and cash.Wagner, 25, went 0-2 with a 7.24 ERA in three starts for the Brewers last season. He spent most of the campaign at Double-A Biloxi and went 11-5 with a 2.24 ERA in 25 starts.
