Travis Hafner told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he is hoping to continue his playing career.
Hafner agreed this week to join the baseball coaching staff at Notre Dame College in Ohio, but it's only a volunteer position and he can leave at any time. The 36-year-old hit just .202/.301/.378 for the Yankees in 2013 and is mostly limited to DH duties.

According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, Travis Hafner has joined the coaching staff of Notre Dame College in Ohio.
No word on whether this officially means retirement, but Hafner likely hasn't drawn much interest this winter after batting just .202/.301/.378 over 299 plate appearances last season with the Yankees. He turns 37 in June.

Tonight's 0-for dropped Hafner's OPS under .700 for the season, that even though he came in at 1.104 during April. If the Yankees had anyone in the minors banging down the door, Hafner would probably get his walking papers. As is, they lack much in the way of alternatives.

Hafner plated runs in the first and fourth innings, but they were the only tallies the Yankees could muster in the extra innings loss. Pronk dealt with a shoulder issue last week, but he appears to be fine now, having homered twice and driven in two runs in each of his three games since returning to action.
