Tue Dec 12 202320:14Rowdy Tellez Signs With Pirates
Free-agent first baseman Rowdy Tellez is signing a one-year, $3.2 million deal on Tuesday with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The deal comes with $800,000 in performance bonuses. Tellez sticks in the National League Central division following two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he hit .218/.300/.430 with 48 home runs, 32 RBI, a triple, 136 RBI and 93 runs scored in 258 games. The left-handed slugger took a step back this past season, though, hitting .215 (67-for-311) with only 13 home runs and 47 RBI in 105 games played for the Brew Crew. The 28-year-old will get run against right-handed pitchers at first base with the rebuilding Pirates in 2024, but Tellez doesn't offer much outside of some power as a corner infield option in NL-only leagues.

Fri Nov 17 202323:02Rowdy Tellez Non-Tendered By Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers non-tendered first baseman Rowdy Tellez on Friday, according to a source familiar with the situation. The move sends Tellez to the free-agent market this offseason. The Brewers traded for first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers earlier in the day on Friday, so he will now be the favorite for the majority of playing time at first base for the Brew Crew in 2024. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting Tellez didn't even make the playoff roster for the wild-card series this fall after hitting a weak .215/.291/.376 with 13 home runs, nine doubles, a triple, 47 RBI and 26 runs scored in 105 games. Tellez is a career .233 hitter with 92 home runs in six big-league seasons, and he should be able to latch on with another team looking for some pop from the left side.

Mon Aug 28 202318:11Rowdy Tellez Starting At First Base Monday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/designated hitter Rowdy Tellez is getting the start at first base Monday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Jameson Taillon. Monday marks the slugger's first start at first base since back on July 4 before injuring his finger, an ailment that cost him roughly six weeks of action. All three of Tellez's starts since his return have come as the club's DH as Carlos Santana's superior glove has him handling first base nearly every outing for the Brewers. Tellez has caught fire over his last two games with a homer, a double, and six runs driven in over that time. For the season, the 28-year-old is hitting .217 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and a .694 OPS across 300 trips to the plate.

Sat Aug 19 202313:35Rowdy Tellez Activated From The 10-Day Injured List
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/designated hitter Rowdy Tellez has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Tellez has been out since early July after he suffered a cut on his hand while shagging flyballs during practice. The 28-year-old slugger has 12 home runs and a .678 OPS over 253 at-bats so far this season. He will platoon with the recently-acquired Carlos Santana at first base for the rest of the season, most likely.

Sat Aug 19 202300:30Rowdy Tellez Should Return This Weekend
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (finger, forearm) is likely to be activated off the injured list at some time this weekend during the series against the Texas Rangers. It's been quite a bumpy road back for the 28-year-old. He initially experienced right forearm inflammation on July 5 before trying to come back from that ailment on July 15, but he fractured his left ring finger while shagging fly balls during batting practice. Tellez should find himself on the strong side of a platoon upon his return at the cold corner with Carlos Santana, who hasn't supplied a whole lot outside of a few sporadic home runs. The all-or-nothing slugger, Tellez, looks to improve on a career-low .213/.285/.388 triple-slash line with 12 homers, seven doubles, and 36 RBI over 288 trips to the dish this year.

Tue Aug 15 202321:12Rowdy Tellez Will Remain On Rehab Assignment Through Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (hand) will remain on his rehab assignment until he gets going at the plate, according to manager Craig Counsell. That means he'll be with Triple-A Nashville at least through the Dodgers series, which ends on Thursday. So far, Tellez is batting just .111 at Triple-A so he'll get a few more days to get it going at the dish. He has been out since mid-July after getting stitches on his hand. He'll split first base duties with the recently-acquired Carlos Santana at first base once he's back with the Brew Crew. He put up a lackluster .653 OPS over 253 at-bats before his injury so he's a little hard to trust for fantasy purposes at the moment.

Sat Aug 5 202312:31Rowdy Tellez To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell said that first baseman Rowdy Tellez (finger, forearm) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. Tellez is trying to return from two separate injuries, a fractured left ring finger and forearm inflammation, but he's doing baseball activities and is getting closer to a return to the Brewers. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman will be returning to a .213/.285/.388 slash line over 258 at-bats for Milwaukee with 12 home runs, 36 RBI and 23 runs scored. Tellez is an option at the cold corner for the team when they face right-handed pitching, but his playing time will be more complicated when he returns now that the switch-hitting Carlos Santana is in town.

Sat Aug 5 202310:03Rowdy Tellez Set For Rehab Assignment Soon
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (forearm/finger) is closing in on starting a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. The 28-year-old swung in the cage and fielded grounders on Thursday and should continue working out with the club in Milwaukee ahead of his scheduled rehab stint. Tellez originally went down with right forearm inflammation on July 5 before attempting to return on July 15, only to fracture his left ring finger while shagging fly balls amid batting practice. Barring any further setbacks, Tellez appears on pace for a mid-August return. The all-or-nothing slugger is also on pace for his worst season yet, slashing a career-low .213/.285/.388 with 12 home runs, seven doubles, and 36 RBI over 288 trips to the plate.

Mon Jul 24 202309:30Rowdy Tellez To Get Stitches Removed On Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (finger) is set to have his stitches removed from his fractured finger on Tuesday. The 28-year-old is expected to resume swinging the bat as early as Wednesday. Tellez has been out since July 5 due to inflammation in his forearm and the fractured ring finger. The expectation is that he's going to need a minor league rehab assignment before rejoining the Brewers. That being said, Tellez probably won't be back until early August.

Sun Jul 16 202312:23Rowdy Tellez Breaks Finger, Out Another 3-4 Weeks
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (finger, forearm) will be out another three to four weeks at minimum after breaking the tip of his ring finger on his throwing hand before Saturday's game while shagging fly balls in the outfield. He required 17 stitches for a torn nail bed. Tellez went on the injured list with right-forearm inflammation, but he was set to return early next week before suffering a broken finger on Saturday night. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues must now wait longer for the 28-year-old left-handed slugger to return. Tellez offers very little besides some modest power from the first base position, as he's currently hitting .213 (55-for-258) with 12 home runs and 36 RBI this year. Owen Miller should see plenty of playing time at the cold corner in Milwaukee until Tellez is able to return.

Fri Jul 14 202318:50Rowdy Tellez Expected To Return On Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (forearm) is expected to make his return from the injured list on Tuesday. The 28-year-old has been out since July 5 due to inflammation in his right forearm. It doesn't sound like Tellez is going to require a rehab assignment. That means, Tellez should be back in the Brewers lineup early in the week. He's slashing .213/.285/.388 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI in 67 games this season.

Wed Jul 5 202316:18Rowdy Tellez Put On Injured List, Brian Anderson Activated
The Milwaukee Brewers placed first baseman Rowdy Tellez (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with right-forearm inflammation and reinstated infielder/outfielder Brian Anderson from the paternity list in a corresponding move. The team also designated infielder Mike Brosseau for assignment and released left-hander Thomas Pannone. Tellez has really struggled since June 18, going 6-for-47 (.128) with no homers and five RBI in 15 games, so he could use the time off to recharge for the second half of the season. Anderson will return last played on July 2 and has four hits (a triple) in his nine at-bats to start the month of July. He's returning to a .227/.318/.374 slash line with nine homers and 37 RBI in 273 at-bats.

Thu May 25 202315:20Rowdy Tellez Singles In Win, Hit Streak Reaches Four Games
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout in a win against the Houston Astros on Wednesday. The single extended his hitting streak to four games, which started after a hitless streak of four games. Tellez is slashing .257/.347/.535 with 12 home runs this season, which puts him on pace to approach his career-best 35 home runs from last year. Tellez may have a tough stretch this weekend in San Francisco since it isn't a home run-friendly ballpark, but next week the Brewers travel to Toronto. Tellez has hit 15 home runs at Rogers Centre in his career, the second-most of any ballpark he's played at.

Mon Apr 24 202317:36Rowdy Tellez Sitting Against Lefty Monday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez is not in Monday's starting lineup versus left-hander Matthew Boyd and the Detroit Tigers. Luke Voit will take over at first and hit fifth. The lefty-swinging Tellez has enjoyed a big season to this point with seven homers and an .880 OPS across 20 games, all but one of which were starts. It's a good time for the veteran to get a breather as he's hitless in nine trips to the plate against lefties this season while he owns a .699 OPS against lefties in his career versus a .797 mark against righties. At the same time, Boyd has held left-handed hitters to a .188 average and a .485 OPS on the young season.

Milwaukee Brewers first basemanRowdy Tellezcracked a solo home run in a 5-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox Friday. Tellez blasted a solo shot in the fourth inning to tie the game. The slugger is slashing .242/.338/.548 with six home runs and 15 RBI over 18 games in 2023. His heavy bat makes him an asset to any fantasy lineup early in the season. Last year Tellez hit 35 home runs and drove in 89 runs.

Thu Mar 23 202315:00Luis Urias, Rowdy Tellez Back In Brewers Lineup
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Luis Urias and first baseman Rowdy Tellez are back in the team's Cactus League lineup on Thursday against the San Diego Padres and left-hander Jay Groome after playing for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Urias is at second base and is hitting cleanup, while Tellez is at first base and is batting fifth in the order. Urias hit .278 with a home run and four RBI for Mexico. He's slated to serve as an infield regular for the Brew Crew in 2023 after playing a part-time role in 2022. The 25-year-old got off on the wrong foot last year due to a quad injury, but he finished the year hot and is looking to rebound. The 28-year-old Tellez will also be a lineup regular for Milwaukee. He hit a career-high 35 long balls in 2022 but also had a career-low .219 average.

Sun Feb 5 202321:59Rowdy Tellez Playing For Mexico In WBC
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez will be representing Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Tellez will be joined by other major-leaguers to represent Mexico, such as teammate Luis Urias, Julio Urias, Randy Arozarena, Joey Meneses and others. Tellez hit a whopping 35 home runs this past season with the Brewers and continues to emanate elite power. His slash line was underwhelming after molding a .219/.306/.461 triple line this past season, but that's typical for a sole power hitter. The first baseman accumulated a 115 OPS+ and drove in 89 runs. His .306 on-base percentage was at the root of his low average, but playing in the WBC could help him out. Not to mention, Tellez also received an offer to play for Israel in the WBC.

Tue Sep 27 202223:11Rowdy Tellez Hits Homer No. 34
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez hit the 34th home run of his season Tuesday, a solo shot off St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas in a 6-2 defeat. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Tellez has hit for a low .222 average all year, but his 60 walks and .469 slugging percentage have brought his OPS to a respectable .779 in 568 plate appearances. The 34 round-trippers are a career high, and Tellez has provided solid power to fantasy managers for practically no cost all year.

Wed Aug 31 202213:09Rowdy Tellez Back Against Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez (knee) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Zach Thompson, serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the lineup. Tellez sat out of the game on Tuesday, but he'll be back in there for fantasy managers on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has been a great source of power this year, as he's batting .231/.323/.477 with an .801 OPS, a career-high 27 home runs, 75 RBI, 51 runs scored and one stolen base in 415 at-bats for the Brew Crew. He hasn't been as good in the month of August, though, going 17-for-75 (.227), but he does have seven home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in 24 games played.

Mon Aug 29 202221:42Rowdy Tellez Leaves Monday's Game Early
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez left Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with right knee discomfort. Tellez left the game after coming around to score from first base on a Hunter Renfroe double in the fourth inning. The Brewers replaced him at first base with Keston Hiura. Tellez went 1-for-2 with a run before leaving the game. It doesn't sound like the injury is serious but stay tuned as the Brewers are likely to update his status sometime before Tuesday's game.
