Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday that he expects Olivera to be a full-time player in 2016, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
While Olivera has been deployed as a platoon player in recent weeks, sitting against most left-handers (even though he bats right), he's fully expected to a lineup regular either at third base or in left field next season. That was the expectation all along, after the Braves gave up the likes of Jose Peraza and Alex Wood in order to land Olivera at the trade deadline. Olivera hasn't exactly excelled since his promotion (.669 OPS), but the Braves expect him to be much improved after winter ball and a full spring training.
