Thu Jun 29 202321:57Yonathan Daza Will Undergo Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder next week. He injured his shoulder during an at-bat in last Sunday's game with Triple-A Albuquerque. The 29-year-old has had the same injury to his left shoulder twice before. He will undergo the same surgery teammate Brendan Rodgers had earlier in the year. Daza slashed .270/.304/.351 with seven RBI, eight runs, and one stolen base across 80 plate appearances with the Rockies in 2023. Daza will miss the rest of the season and look to recover ahead of Spring Training in 2024.

Wed Apr 26 202318:29Yonathan Daza Remains Out On Wednesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (hand) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Daza exited early on Sunday after being hit by a pitch on the hand. Luckily, the X-rays were negative, but Daza will sit out his third straight game on Wednesday. Brenton Doyle will cover center field and bat seventh versus right-hander Tanner Bibee. The expectation is that Daza will return in a few days and won't require a trip to the injured list.

Mon Apr 24 202312:33Yonathan Daza Day-To-Day After Sunday's Injury
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (hand) left Sunday's game early against the Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch on his left hand. X-rays came back negative, though, and manager Bud Black said Daza was considered day-to-day. "He'll be sore, but it could have been worse," Black said. "We don't know when [he will play], but he's going to be fine." It sounds as though Daza will avoid the injured list, but fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Daza misses a few games to start the week. The Rockies are calling up outfield prospect Brenton Doyle with both Daza and Kris Bryant getting injured over the weekend. How long Doyle stays with the big-league team will depend on how quickly both Daza and Bryant can return to Colorado's lineup.

Thu Mar 30 202321:45Yonathan Daza Leading Off Opening Day Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza will act as the leadoff hitter for Thursday's Opening Day against the San Diego Padres, according to MLB.com. Daza earned that role after a solid 2022 season, where he batted .301 with a .349 OBP, and he hit .311 this spring. However, he showed little power and speed, with just two home runs and no stolen bases over 113 games. Daza has the skill to continue providing batting average, but fantasy managers shouldn't count on much else from the 29-year-old, especially if he loses the role at the top of the lineup if the Rockies aren't satisfied with his talent at the plate.

Wed Sep 7 202219:05Yonathan Daza Records Four Hits In Last Two Games
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza had another multi-hit game after he went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's 8-4 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers. He doubled and scored twice during the contest and has back-to-back two-hit games since coming off the injured list. Daza has come out of nowhere to be a big batting average contributor, hitting .304, but hasn't shown any power or speed (two home runs, no stolen bases) across his 92 games this season or throughout his career. Fantasy managers should know what they're sacrificing if they pick up the 28-year-old from the waiver wire.

Fri Aug 12 202211:42Yonathan Daza Hopeful To Avoid Injured List
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (shoulder) was forced to exit early during Thursday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Daza suffered a left shoulder sprain, while making a diving catch in the first inning. The Rockies decided to pull him out of the contest after he came up clutching his arm. The 28-year-old is hopeful to avoid a trip to the injured list. That will likely be determined by how Daza feels over the next few days. For now, fantasy managers can consider Daza as day-to-day, but that could change.

Thu Aug 11 202217:49Yonathan Daza Departs Early On Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (shoulder) didn't last long during Thursday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He exited the contest after a diving catch during the first inning. Afterwards, Daza was clutching his left arm in pain, so the Rockies decided to remove him from the contest. Now, Daza has been diagnosed with a left shoulder sprain, which will probably lead to a stint on the injured list. Garrett Hampson came into the game on Thursday and could see more playing time now.

Thu Sep 9 202114:58Yonathan Daza Reinstated From The Injured List
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday. He's been sidelined since August 16 with a left thumb laceration. Antonio Santos was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Before the injury, Daza slashed .283/.331/.360 with two home runs, 29 RBI, 25 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 298 plate appearances. The 27-year-old is starting in right field and batting seventh against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. Fantasy managers should wait and see how Daza produces before inserting him into their starting lineups.

Wed Aug 18 202113:10Yonathan Daza Lands On The Injured List
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez was activated in a corresponding move. The severity of Daza's hand injury is unknown at this time, and he will miss at least the next 10 days. The 27-year-old was activated from the COVID-19 list two weeks ago and lost playing time to Sam Hilliard since returning. Fantasy managers can move on from Daza in most league formats if they haven't done so already. Hilliard, along with Connor Joe, should see an uptick in playing time while Daza is sidelined, and both should be rostered in deep-league formats.

Sun Aug 1 202120:13Yonathan Daza Appears As A Pinch-Hitter
Colorado Rockies outfielder Yonathan Daza appeared as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Padres. Daza hit the COVID-19 injured list back on July 16 and was activated prior to Sunday's contest. He struck out in his lone appearance as a pinch-hitter. The 27-year-old outfielder was having a solid season prior to hitting the IL so we'll see how he fits back into the lineup after his extended absence. He's slashing .294/.343/.380 with two home runs, 28 RBI, and two stolen bases over 245 at-bats. He plays excellent defense in center field but the Rockies outfield is looking crowded with Sam Hilliard and Connor Joe back on the team.

A look at what's happening around the majors today: SHORT STORY The first-place Mets are waiting for news on Francisco Lindor, who left Friday night's heated 4-1 loss in Pittsburgh with soreness on his right side. In his first season with the Mets after being acquired from Cleveland in a January trade, Lindor is hitting .228 with 11 home runs in 88 games. He agreed to a $341 million, 10-year contract just before opening day.
