Sun Jul 20 201411:16Doc Rivers likes Delonte West's intensity
Doc Rivers cited Delonte West's willingness to sacrifice his body on every play as a reason as to why he decided to give West a second chance, and Summer League invite.
"He's just doing out there what he always does - he's been one of the best players in the summer league," said Rivers. "I would rather have that guy who puts his body on the line every time... Maybe that's why our relationship was so close. Fans love guys who give everything, and Delonte is one of those guys" Rivers has always been a fan of West, but he stopped short of guaranteeing West a training camp invite. "I have no idea [if Delonte will be given an invite to training camp]. Right now we have 1,000 guards. But if the situation fits, then we'll see."

Delonte West will attempt to showcase himself playing for the Clippers' Summer League team, and he hopes to secure a training camp invite.
"The biggest thing personally is just to show teams that any off-the-court issues or things like that are behind me," said West, who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks in October 2012 after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. "Those things don't affect what I do on the basketball court. All I am ready to do is play basketball and win games, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to help the Clippers." West's on-court/off-court issues have been well documented, but he is a serviceable backup point guard, and if he is able to land on a roster it will be a nice story. West attributes his newfound maturity to fatherhood.

Thu Aug 1 201312:29Knicks not expected to sign Delonte West
The Knicks are no longer interested in signing Delonte West and could try to sign Bobby Brown before August 15.
Beno Udrih is also on the radar for the Knicks. They need a third point guard behind Pablo Prigioni, but perhaps there is a little too much baggage with West. As for Brown, he might wind up overseas without an NBA contract by the 15th. No matter who the Knicks sign, that player will need some players to miss time in order to see double-digit minutes per game.
