Wed Feb 2814:44Dustin Peterson Joins Pirates On Minors Pact
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed outfielder Dustin Peterson to a minor-league deal that presumably includes an invite to big-league spring training. The former second-round pick of the Padres has appeared in just 19 big-league games, 17 of which came with the Tigers in the 2019 season when he hit .227 and stole one base across 47 trips to the plate. More recently, he spent the 2023 season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies organization where he hit .244 with 19 home runs and a 10.6% BB% across 85 appearances. He should merely serve as minor-league outfielder depth for the Bucs in the 2024 campaign.

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Dustin Peterson from the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations. Peterson has been assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 27-year-old will give the Phillies a little more outfield depth with Odubel Herrera (oblique) and Mickey Moniak (hand) currently on the shelf. Peterson last played in the major leagues in 2019 with the Detroit Tigers, going 10-for-44 with no home runs and six RBI in 17 games played. He hit .272/.347/.416 with nine home runs, 56 RBI and 42 runs scored in 329 plate appearances over 77 games for Triple-A Nashville in the minors last year.
