RHP Jason Garcia, called up from Double-A Bowie on Saturday, was optioned back to Bowie after the Sunday game. He didn't appear in a game for Baltimore. He is 4-7 with a 4.79 ERA in 15 Double-A starts this year.

RHP Jason Garcia was called up from Double-A Bowie to give the Orioles another right-handed arm in the bullpen. Garcia stayed with the Orioles in 2015 as a Rule 5 pick -- going 1-0 in 21 games -- but went back to Bowie to continue working this season.

Garcia (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day DL on Thursday.

Garcia hit the DL in mid-May tendinitis in his right shoulder, and he's finally back with the Orioles after a successful rehab stint. He'll take the roster spot of Mychal Givens, who was sent back to Double-A Bowie.

The Orioles may not call up Garcia (shoulder) until early-August, MASN Sports reports.

Garcia has been wild in his rehab, walking eight and striking out nine in five innings at Double-A. The Orioles could be in a roster crunch when he returns, so it makes sense to give Garcia the maximum 30 days to rehab.

Garcia tossed a scoreless inning in Thursday's rehab game at Double-A.

Garcia now has two scoreless innings, one in which he breezed through with nine pitches and the other that required some labor at 24 pitches with two walks and a strikeout. Garcia could join the Orioles out of the All-Star break, but the team has plenty of bullpen options and it could result in more rehab time.

Garcia (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Monday, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Garcia has been on the DL since mid-May with shoulder tendinitis, so it wouldn't be a surprise if his rehab assignment extended through the end of the All-Star break. The right-hander posted a 5.93 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 13.2 innings prior to succumbing to the injury, which could put him at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Norfolk once he's formally activated from the DL.

Garcia (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday.

Garcia was transferred to the 60-day DL to help clear space on the 40-man roster for Kevin Gausman and reliever Mychal Givens. He has been on the DL since May 11, meaning he won't be eligible for activation until July.

Garcia (shoulder) is performing strength exercises, but he is not throwing yet, MASN Sports reports.

It was originally thought that Garcia could rejoin the team before the end of the month, but it appears it is going to take much longer than that. There is no word on his timeline, but if he is not throwing yet it is unlikely he will be back before mid-June.

Garcia has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 11 due to right shoulder tendinitis.

Mike Wright has been recalled to take Garcia's place on the roster. As a Rule 5 selection, it's not unreasonable to think that the Orioles will bring him along very slowly.

Garcia made his MLB debut Wednesday and tossed a scoreless inning with one walk and no strikeouts.

Manager Buck Showalter earlier said that the Red Sox may have been trying to "hide" Garcia in Low-A and High-A last year, knowing he would be exposed to the Rule 5 Draft. The Orioles pounced and Garcia had a solid debut. He entered the game with the Orioles down one run, but he figures to pitch in low-leverage situations or in long relief when possible.

Garcia has made the Orioles' Opening Day roster, MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports.

Garcia, a Rule 5 draft pick, wasn't a lock for a roster spot, but will claim one of the final bullpen spots available. The 22-year-old righty gave up just one earned run in 10.1 innings this spring, cementing a role on the Major League club despite never pitching above the Class-A level in his career.

The Orioles are not committed to keeping Garcia on the roster at this point despite waiving fellow Rule 5 pick Jason Verrett Thursday, MASN Sports reports.

Both Garcia and Verrett were very good this spring, with Garcia allowing one run in 9.1 innings. He has still show a wild side with seven walks, but he also has 11 strikeouts. Garcia still seems to have better than a 50/50 chance of staying with the Orioles despite never having pitched above High-A.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter says keeping Garcia on the roster remains a possibility, according to MASN Sports.

Garcia has allowed one run on six hits with six walks and nine strikeouts in seven innings this spring. He could end up being a high strikeout, high walk pitcher, but it seems like a stretch that the Orioles will find a way to keep him given the bullpen is logjammed with several players out of options. The Orioles have been creative in keeping Rule 5 players in the past, so we will have to stay tuned to see if there is a way to keep Garcia.
