Wilfork dressed but did not play in preseason Week 2 against the Broncos.
Wilfork has yet to make his Houston debut in game conditions, but this is not due to injury. We'll likely see in next week.
Mon Mar 16 201516:03Wilfork has signed with Texans
Wilfork has signed with the Texans, the Boston Herald reports.
The 33-year-old Wilfork isn't a major IDP factor these days, having recorded 47 tackles for the Patriots in 16 games last season, but he remains an asset as a run defender and should step right into the starting nose tackle position for Houston.

Wilfork will become an unrestricted free agent when eligible next week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The Patriots declined to pick up the team option on Wilfork's contract, so he will be free to explore other opportunities at the onset of free agency. The 33-year-old defensive tackle tallied 47 combined tackles in 2014, but didn't record a sack for the second straight year. The report, which was relayed by Schefter, came from Wilfork's personal Twitter account.
Thu Feb 5 201519:09Vince Wilfork: Says He'll Keep Playing
Wilfork said Thursday that he will play at least one more season, WEEI.com reports.
Signed through 2016, Wilfork was very clear about the fact that he plans to continue playing. The Patriots could free up approximately $8 million in 2015 cap room by releasing Wilfork, but the two sides will almost certainly agree to a mini-extension or restructure.

Wilfork was on the field for 22-of-52 of the Patriots' defensive snaps in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers, ESPN.com reports.
While Wilfork recorded just one tackle in the game, both ESPN and the Boston Herald suggest that Wilfork seems past his Achilles' woes at this stage. While the veteran DT is only an IDP factor in deeper formats, his return to the the Patriots' defensive front line should represent a big boost to the team's overall defense, in particular against the run.
Thu Jul 24 201418:39Vince Wilfork practicing without restriction
Patriots NT Vince Wilfork (Achilles') is practicing without restriction.
Wilfork will likely he held out of some 11-on-11s, but he's full steam ahead for Week 1. That being said, we'd expect him to see very limited action in the preseason. There's simply no reason for the Patriots to take the risk.

Sun Jun 15 201415:24Vince Wilfork on track for training camp
Patriots NT Vince Wilfork (Achilles') is on track to be ready for training camp.
Wilfork is participating in individual drills at OTAs and has even progressed to some 11-on-11 work. He tore his Achilles' in September, but there haven't been any setbacks. Even if Wilfork misses time, his Week 1 status isn't in doubt.

Thu Mar 27 201418:05Vince Wilfork's deal essentially 1-year pact
Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Vince Wilfork's "three-year, $22.5 million deal" is essentially a one-year, $8 million contract.
The final two years are option years. As for Wilfork's "$8 million," only $3 million of it is guaranteed. The remaining $5 million is tied up in playing-time incentives, albeit ones Wilfork is expected to reach if he's healthy. It's a good deal for both sides, allowing Wilfork to save face while protecting the Pats in case he hits a speed bump in his recovery from a torn Achilles' tendon.

Tue Mar 25 201418:19Patriots and Vince Wilfork 'are talking'
ESPN Boston reports the Patriots and Vince Wilfork "are talking."
It's been two weeks since an apparently angry Wilfork requested his release, but it appears there's been a thaw in the sides' chill. Owner Robert Kraft said Monday he "hopes" Wilfork remains with the team for 2014. That's much more likely than it was two weeks ago.

Mon Mar 24 201416:16Report: Wilfork cleaned out Patriots locker
In addition to requesting his release, the Boston Herald reports an "angry" Vince Wilfork cleaned out his locker and "ripped his name plate off his locker stall" after the Patriots approached him about reworking his contract.
At the time, at least, Wilfork "seemed convinced" he was done in New England. "I sure hope Vince will be with us next year," owner Bob Kraft stated at the NFL league meetings on Monday. Kraft was noncommittal on Wilfork's Patriots future, and it's unclear where negotiations currently stand. "We have to put a team together of over 50 people," Kraft said. "We have a salary cap. In the end, it's about both parties feeling it's a good transaction and it's a win-win. I think that's what we're both shooting for."

Mon Mar 24 201413:28Pats owner hopes Wilfork stays for 2014
Patriots owner Robert Kraft "hopes" DT Vince Wilfork remains with the team for 2014.
"I very much hope we get it done, and I believe he very much would like to do it," Kraft said. "We'll see what happens." It's been quiet on the Wilfork front since he reportedly requested his release two weeks ago. That suggests the sides are still talking.

Thu Mar 13 201414:24Report: Pats' Wilfork requests to be released
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Patriots DT Vince Wilfork has requested his release.
Due $7.5 million, the Pats had approached Wilfork about restructuring his contract. He clearly didn't like what they were selling, and would rather take his wares to the open market. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wilfork isn't open to any sort of restructuring. Cutting Wilfork would clear $8 million in cap space, but leave behind $3.6 million in dead money. Wilfork appeared in just four games last season before tearing his Achilles' tendon. Going on 33, Wilfork has spent his entire 10-year career with the Patriots.

Sat Mar 8 201409:54Patriots ask Wilfork to restructure contract
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots have approached Vince Wilfork about restructuring his contract.
The Patriots are searching for money to re-sign free agents Aqib Talib and Julian Edelman, and Wilfork's $11.6 million cap hit is a huge number for a 32-year-old coming off an Achilles' injury. An extension could lower that number and keep Wilfork in New England for the rest of his career.

Mon Feb 17 201416:48Wilfork candidate for Suggs-like extension?
ESPN Boston believes Patriots NT Vince Wilfork could be a candidate for a Terrell Suggs-type extension.
Suggs, 31, signed a five-year, $28.5 million deal on Monday, slashing his 2014 cap number. "Only" $16 million of the deal is guaranteed. Going on 33, Wilfork is coming off major injury and headed into the final year of his contract. He's currently set to count a steep $11.6 million against the cap. An extension would lower that number while likely locking a Bill Belichick favorite up at a team-friendly rate.

Wed Dec 18 201308:08Vince Wilfork says he'll be back in 2014
Vince Wilfork (Achilles, IR) said there's "no question" he'll be back in 2014.
Wilfork, 32 years old, blew out his Achilles' tendon in late September. It can be a career-threatening injury for someone at his age, but he has no plans to shut it down. "I'll be back. There's no question in my mind. That's not even a question," he said. "People can worry about it. But not me. I'll be back." Wilfork is owed $7.5 million in 2014, the final year of his current contract.

Thu Oct 3 201316:37Patriots officially place Vince Wilfork on IR
Patriots placed NT Vince Wilfork on injured reserve with a torn Achilles' tendon, ending his season.
The 10-year veteran underwent surgery on Tuesday. Coming into 2013, Wilfork had missed only six games in nine years. The longtime anchor of the Patriots' defensive line turns 32 in November, and is signed through 2014. Achilles' injuries have proven far less difficult to return from in recent years, but Wilfork's age is a complicating factor. There's no guarantee he'll be the same in 2014. The Patriots are going forward with Tommy Kelly, Joe Vellano and Chris Jones at the nose.

Tue Oct 1 201313:39Wilfork's wife tweets that he had surgery
Patriots NT Vince Wilfork's (torn Achilles' tendon) wife tweeted Tuesday that he underwent successful surgery.
The Patriots have still yet to officially update their nose tackle's status, but all indications are that he tore his right Achilles' tendon in Sunday night's win, and underwent surgery on Tuesday. Perhaps we'll finally get official word when New England returns to practice on Wednesday. Wilfork can be safely considered out for the season, leaving Tommy Kelly, Joe Vellano and Chris Jones to pick up the pieces at the nose.
