Marlins signed RHP Mitch Talbot to a minor league contract.
We're assuming he'll also get an invite to major league spring training. Talbot pitched with the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization last season and posted a 3.97 ERA over 138 innings. He has a 5.30 ERA over 41 starts and two relief appearances in the majors between the Indians and Rays.

Fri Dec 2 201109:16Mitch Talbot signs with Korean club
Mitch Talbot has signed with the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization.
He will make $300,000. Talbot's agent, Andrew Lowenthal, said last month that he was talking to 15 different teams about his client, but it's hard to believe that now that Talbot has taken a relatively modest deal to play overseas. The 28-year-old held an ugly 6.64 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in 63 2/3 major league innings -- 12 starts -- this season for the Indians.

Mitch Talbot's agent, Andrew Lowenthal, told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com that he has heard from 15 teams regarding his client.
Talbot is also drawing interest from Japanese League clubs. The 28-year-old suffered through an ugly 6.64 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in 63 2/3 major league innings -- 12 starts -- this season for the Indians, but he has back-end of the rotation upside, so someone will take a flier on him.

Fri Aug 5 201114:26Mitch Talbot outrighted
Indians sent RHP Mitch Talbot outright to Triple-A Columbus.
The Indians designated the right-handed for assignment Sunday, but he's cleared waivers and because it was the first time he's been outrighted, he has to accept the assignment. Talbot is likely a candidate only for the bullpen later this season.

Sun Jul 31 201117:02Mitch Talbot DFA'd to make room for Ubaldo
Indians activated RHP Mitch Talbot (back) from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.
Talbot is the odd man out with Ubaldo Jimenez on board. The Indians will still need to demote someone from their active roster to make room for their newly acquired pitcher. Talbot, 27, had an ugly 6.33 ERA and 1.800 WHIP over 58.1 innings in 2011 before going down with a lower back injury. The journeyman could latch on with a team looking for bullpen depth, but he'll be nothing more than a mop-up reliever.

Mon Jul 18 201119:21Talbot (back) to begin rehab sint Tuesday
Mitch Talbot (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Columbus.
Talbot was placed on the disabled list earlier this month with a lower back strain. He is expected to work out of the bullpen in the minor leagues. The 27-year-old right-hander is out of options, so the Indians will either have to add him to the active roster or put him through waivers once his 30-day rehab assignment is complete.

Wed Jul 13 201113:38Indians place RHP Talbot (back) on DL
Indians placed RHP Mitch Talbot on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 9, with a lower back strain.
Interesting timing, given that Indians manager Manny Acta was already considering booting him from the starting rotation. Talbot has a 6.33 ERA over 11 starts this season and is winless since May 31.

Sat Jul 9 201109:43Mitch Talbot could be booted from rotation
Indians manager Manny Acta indicated after Friday's game that the struggling Mitch Talbot might be booted from the rotation.
Talbot gave up eight runs Friday and now holds a 6.33 ERA on the season. "He's scuffling, so we're going to have to look into that," Acta said. "We're not going to overreact, but we've got to look into things. It's been 31/2 months of baseball. We have to do what's best for our team and look at all our options." The Indians have four options at Triple-A that are all pitching well in Zach McAllister, Jeanmar Gomez, David Huff and Scott Barnes, so it's no surprise that the leash on Talbot is short.

Fri Jul 8 201122:36Talbot knocked around by Jays
Mitch Talbot was pummeled by the Blue Jays Friday, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings.
That's now 14 runs he's allowed over his last two outings and 26 allowed over his last five times out. The Indians have a handful of starters pitching well at Triple-A, so Talbot's leash can't be too long at this point. He'll carry a 6.33 ERA and 1.78 WHIP into the All-Star break.

Tue Jun 21 201122:23Talbot scatters eight hits and three runs
Mitch Talbot scattered eight hits and three runs over 6 1/3 innings of work on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Rockies.
He walked a pair and struck out a pair. Talbot has given up two runs or fewer in five of his eight starts this season, but he was bad enough in two of those starts that his ERA sits at 4.91. He has little upside and is a borderline play in AL-only leagues.

Thu Jun 16 201116:19Mitch Talbot gives up six runs in loss
Mitch Talbot was tagged for six runs and two homers in four-plus innings by the Tigers in a loss Thursday.
Talbot has given up two runs or fewer in five of his seven starts this season, but the other two have been bad enough to leave him with a 5.02 ERA. He has little upside, and he'll be a borderline play in AL-only leagues most weeks.

Sat Jun 11 201115:44Mitch Talbot ejected
Mitch Talbot was ejected from Saturday's outing after drilling Alex Rodriguez on the left hip with a pitch in the sixth inning.
It was pretty apparent that there was no intent. But, Curtis Granderson had just homered, A-Rod went deep in his prior at-bat and the umpiring crew was on edge after the Mark Teixeira/Fausto Carmona incident Friday, so it wasn't entirely surprising to see home plate ump Dan Iassogna run Talbot. The Indians right-hander was putting together another pretty nice start before getting the boot, allowing just two runs on four hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. We doubt a suspension is forthcoming, so expect Talbot to get the ball next week against the Tigers.

Sun Jun 5 201115:57Talbot out-dueled by C.J. Wilson
Mitch Talbot scattered eight hits and two runs over six innings of work on Sunday afternoon, but got out-dueled by Texas' C.J. Wilson in a 2-0 Indians loss.
He struck out four and walked three. Talbot's two worst pitches of the day came in the second and third innings, where he allowed Mitch Moreland and Elvis Andrus, respectively, to tag him for solo home runs. The quality start was his second straight after the Red Sox abused him for 12 hits and eight runs in just three innings of work on May 25.

Wed May 25 201115:26Mitch Talbot rocked by Red Sox in return
Mitch Talbot was torched for eight runs in three innings by the Red Sox in his return from the DL.
Talbot allowed seven runs and nine hits before finally escaping the first inning, and while he was able to limit the damage in the following two innings, he allowed three hits and two walks between the frames. Talbot pitched well in his rehab, so this wasn't a case of the Indians bringing him back too early. It was more about a pitcher with mediocre stuff having a rough day against a very good offense.
