Swanner, 23, is batting .258/.344/.480 with 15 home runs, 37 RBI and six stolen bases through 88 games for Double-A New Britain.
The prospect star has faded for Swanner, a converted catcher. However, he will likely surpass his previous career-high in home runs this season, and with future home games played in the thin air in Colorado, it may be foolish to completely write him off just yet.

Swanner, 23, is batting .224/.358/.398 over 120 plate appearances at Double-A New Britain.
Swanner isn't particularly old relative to his Eastern League competition, but his standing as a prospect of note nonetheless seems to be nearing its expiration date. His value had already been on the decline after his position switch from catcher to first base last season, and the downward trend of his slugging percentages has further dampened his outlook. While accomplished players like Jim Thome and Adam Dunn (among others) have proven there's a place for Three True Outcomes types in the majors, Swanner is only striking out (31.7 K% this season) and walking (16.7 BB%) at prodigious rates, as the power has disappeared since his breakout 2012 campaign at Low-A Asheville. Until he starts to demonstrate that skill again, Swanner has the look of a career minor leaguer.
