T.J. Ford (neck) is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Spurs and says his career is over.
Ford has had multiple neck/spine issues in his career and sustained another scary "stinger" on Wednesday. Although the Spurs haven't confirmed, it looks like he'll officially retire shortly. During eight seasons with the Bucks, Raptors, Pacers and Spurs, Ford averaged 11.2 points, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Gregg Popovich said that Ford will play "when he feels comfortable ... That was a scary situation, so he's going to let his mind calm down a little bit." Ford's slow return is completely understandable, as he's been diagnosed with a chronic narrowing of the spinal canal.

T.J. Ford's (neck) x-rays were negative, and he rejoined his teammates on the bench in the second half of Wednesday's game.
"They called it a stinger," said Gregg Popovich. A very scary fall left Ford on the floor for several minutes and he had to be helped off, but luckily he avoided any serious injury.

T.J. Ford left Wednesday night's game in the second quarter after taking a hard hit from behind while attempting to grab a rebound.
Ford was the victim of a shot to the back from Baron Davis, and then was kicked in the head area by Tiago Splitter while laying on the ground. He was in a great deal of pain, although it's not clear at this point what he injured. But after seeing the way he needed to be helped to the locker room, we'd guess his night is over.

T.J. Ford (hamstring) is making progress and the Spurs are looking to get him back just after the All-Star break.
Ford has been playing one-on-one against fellow reserve point guard Cory Joseph and has also been doing work in two-on-two scenarios. "I've got to get my legs back under me," Ford said. He's missed the last 24 games, but Ford should be ready to return in the second half for San Antonio.

Spurs guard T.J. Ford has been diagnosed with a longitudinal tear of his left hamstring and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Gary Neal and Cory Joseph will back up Tony Parker, which will likely pull Neal away from playing primarily at shooting guard. And that, in turn, could mean more minutes for Kawhi Leonard at the 2. Neal still probably has some fantasy value, while Leonard is going to be a hot pickup of he plays well again for the Spurs. Leonard has been very good in his last two games.

Ford called the injury a "freak accident" and said that he "just came down wrong." Gary Neal took over as Tony Parker's backup, and rookie Kawhi Leonard slit into Neal's starting spot. Neal, Leonard and Parker should all see a bump in playing time for however long Ford is out, and Manu Ginobili (hand) is still several weeks away from returning.
