Wed Apr 6 202211:47Spencer Patton Optioned To Minors
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Spencer Patton won't make the Opening Day roster. This comes as a bit of a surprise since Patton pitched well out of the bullpen last season. The 34-year-old posted a 3.83 ERA with 48 strikeouts and two saves in 42 appearances with Texas. However, Patton was roughed up for four earned runs in five appearances this spring. He'll head to Round Rock and be extra depth for later in the season. There isn't much fantasy value here even though Patton was the closer for the Rangers late last season.

Wed Sep 1 202111:19Spencer Patton Records Second Save
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Spencer Patton was able to help secure the win against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. He tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to help get the 4-3 win. That marked Patton's second save of the season and he could see a few more coming his way. However, it sounds like Joe Barlow is normally the closer, but possibly he had the night off. Patton could see more save chances, but his fantasy value is minimal with Barlow being included as well.

Tue Aug 3 202111:06Spencer Patton Notches First Career Save
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Spencer Patton recorded his first career save versus the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. He tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to earn his first save in seven professional seasons. Patton became a closer candidate after the trade of Ian Kennedy. He did blow his first save on Saturday, but looked solid during Monday's contest. He might be worth snagging in category leagues, assuming the Rangers are going to continue using him in that role.

Tue Feb 2 202123:54RHP Patton minor deal with Rangers after 4 seasons in Japan
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Spencer Patton has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers that includes an invitation to spring training after pitching in Japan the past four seasons. Patton was 3-2 with a 4.92 ERA in 57 relief appearances last season in Nippon Professional Baseball. The right-hander, who turns 33 on Feb. 20, was 12-9 with a 3.68 ERA in 219 games with the Yokohama Bay Stars from 2017-20. The Rangers announced Patton's deal Tuesday, making him the 24th non-roster invitee to their spring camp in Arizona. Patton made 16 relief appearances for the Chicago Cubs during the 2016 regular season, but didn't appear in the playoffs when they won the World Series that fall. He made his big league debut with 33 1/3 innings over 36 relief appearances for the Rangers in 2014 and 2015 before getting traded to the Cubs. The Rangers acquired Patton from Kansas City in a July 2014 trade that sent reliever Jason Frasor to the Royals. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
